When we first moved to Ottawa, the las thing on our list (if indeed it was even on our list) of places we were looking for was a family dentist. Then, my daughter started losing teeth faster than the goon on your local hockey team. She also started experiencing pain in her gums. So, we asked around and were told by local parents about Dr. Kevin Rattray. Sure, there are lots of dentists in Ottawa. But, were any taking new patients? Luckily, Dr. Rattray was. I was able to get an appointment right away. I took my daughter in and turns out she had an abcess. It was a complicated procedure involving taking moulds, injections, x-rays, a tooth being pulled and the insertion of a metal space-holding device. I felt a little nervous on behalf of my little seven-year-old. But, Dr. Rattray and his nurse were very good with her and helped her through the ordeal with humour and caring. I only wish they had a full-time receptionist to answer calls. Every time I call, I end up leaving a voice mail and then play phone tag trying to get back in touch with the office. Otherwise, it is a pretty good dentist office to go if you have kids.
