Adjustments! Bonus Points!!
I took a Beach Level 1 class here during the holidays with two girlfriends, one whom is pregnant. The instructor was very accommodating for my friend. It was a good experience, and the location is great for beach dwellers, but not 100% the right fit for me.
Bonus Points
Medium Sized Studio
Large windows, lots of light
Quality instruction
Kids and Teens yoga
Relaxed vibe, older people, more chill
Halfmoon bolsters and products
Lots of workshops if that is your thing.
Minus Points
Not enough boot/jacket storage
Very crowded front area
No lockers
No filtered water
Small Changerooms
Not enough variety of classes for me!
No showers
I will probably visit again. -

Downward Dog Yoga Centre is a lot smaller than I expected. Only having 1 washroom.. yes 1 unisex washroom for the whole studio... :)
The front is a really small shelf for shoes/winter boots and there is no where you can really sit down to put your boots on!! I guess it is one way for yogi to take their practice off the mat into real life! :P It can be quite a frustrating experience when dealing with all the people traffic in between classes with people all trying to take off and put their boots on!
The practice room though is spacious and I just love the darker earth tone of the decoration... Which is quite different than all those white wall and richer s in a lot of other studios I been to.
There are floor to ceiling windows overlooking Queen Street, right across from Starbucks.. Made me feel like getting my cafferine fix when I was struggling in my asanas.. Starbucks calling my name.. I need a Grande Cafe Latte... ommmmmm ommmmmmmm
The class I took using my passport to prana is Ashtanga Prep.. instructors was really patient giving instructions and tips on all the poses.. as expected with Ashtanga there was a lot of flow and working on upper body strength. Prep class is good start if you are new to yoga or you just want to take it easy on a Sunday morning. -

Saw this place on the passport to prana website and came here with my sister. It wasn't to hard to find street parking near the studio on a Sunday morning, but by the time the class was over, the streets were busier.
The reception area was quite small and difficult to maneover with all the winter boots, but the change area had plenty of cubby holes.
We went to a level 2 class which might have been a mistake. Because everyone there seemed to know the flow of the class and the teacher wasn't too helpful to newbies. It seems like a "you know how to do this stuff, and if you don't we'll ignore you" class.
The studio is clean and warm, I just wouldn't recommend going to a level 2 class your first time.Listed in: T to the O dot

I took a restorative class here on an early Friday evening with Jane. Upon locating the studio another woman and I stood outside thinking DD was closed for the day, because the door was locked and there was nary a sign of anyone around; a sign with an updated schedule and a note stating when the studio opens would be very useful.
5 minutes before the class started the door was opened, and everyone piled in one by one. The studio, on the second floor of a unit is pretty hippy and inviting. They don't offer hot yoga classes, so the tiny change room and washroom down the hall work just fine.
The restorative class at DD is highly prop-intensive, with the use of a bolster, block, blanket and eye pillow, youre made to make a adjustments at every position, sometimes without flow.
I found this class to be thoroughly relaxing, and a great way to end the week. However, for this to be a 4-star studio I would have appreciated some personal adjustments when the classes arent large. I found it often hard to get the instructors attention (despite being in the front of the class), and upon getting it, I felt shushed and not completely satisfied with the adjustments made.
All in all, DD has lots of potential and I'd like to try a different class here for a full understanding of their approach.Listed in: Yoga Fire!
