Even when you're the un-techy person in the house, by osmosis you absorb all kinds of nifty tech things.  Greenlyph is one of these insider secrets (except that it's no longer a secret!).

Greenlyph doesn't carry extensive stock, but what it has it stands behind.  We have purchased many components here;  if they don't have it in-stock, they may be able to bring it in for you.

The staff at Greenlyph are knowledgeable and friendly, and are always ready to hear your tale of computer woe.  They'll suggest fixes and patches and get you back on the information highway in short order.  Their service rates are more than reasonable:  $40 for the first hour and $20/hour from the second hour onwards.

Shopping at Greenlyph becomes, for some people, more of a religion than a habit.  We recently purchased a wireless router and my partner was adamant at sourcing it from Greenlyph instead of the big box stores.  An additional bonus was that Greenlyph was $30-40 less expensive than comparable products elsewhere.

With apologies to Stuart McLean, Greenlyph may not be big, but it's small.  And that's a good thing.

I have to update my review and knock Greenlyph down a star. Whatever they did to fix it only lasted a week, so I ended up buying a new computer. Word of caution - engage in more dialogue to see if it's actually worth repairing your computer.

Greenlyph should be great - it's local, the staff know their stuff, and the prices are fairly competitive for a retail outlet.

It's a shame that their ordering/customer service lets them down.  We ordered a new custom build PC from them on a Friday, and were promised a completed build on Monday - great, we thought.

Calling to confirm on Monday, it was delayed again, awaiting another delivery (same as Friday).  OK, we thought, just one of those things.  Tuesday for sure.

Thursday rolls around and no contact.  After calling the store and leaving a message, there was no callback until we call again.  After repeated calls, we get promised that Jeremy will work late to finish the build.  He promises to call when the build is complete, and even to courier the box over to our business when done.  He does not call back.

After going to the store the next day, apparently there was a defective part and they now don't have any idea when it'll be back.

We cancelled our order and went to Robotnik.

The store's failure to keep us updated on progress and inability to deliver on time means we had to take our business elsewhere.

Being a very techy person, I absolutely refuse to buy computer components from big box chains (Futureshop, Best Buy) unless it's an absolute critical emergency, aka: Greenlyph or Mysterybyte are closed.

I've been going to Greenlyph for quite a few years now and have always had a good experience from them.  At one time their prices could not be matched in town for things like hard drives and ram (even by other specialty stores).  Prices have normalized quite a bit in recent years across town (excluding FS & BB of course), but Greenlyph often still has a price edge.

The staff there know their stuff because they're techies themselves and use the stuff they sell extensively.

While their selection is small at first glance, they only tend to bring in brands you can trust for build quality and performance, rather then having a big selection from brands of varying quality.

Cheapest and best quality computer store!

Greenlyph was definitely the little store that could. Their computer prices, knowledgeable staff and warranties are the best I have found so far! And I have been to every computer store in the city that I know of.

I'll give you just one example of a time they have helped me. I went in one day because the hard drive I had was damaged and I needed to retrieve the data on it. They told me what my options were for data recovery and how much it would cost. Greenlyph isn't a specialty data recovery store but their prices were the best. However they asked me my level of computer experience which I told them was intermediate to advanced. They then let me know of some free data recovery programs I could try online. In the end, I got the data I thought I lost all by myself and it was thanks to the customer service agents at Greenlyph who were more interested with helping me out then making a few bucks off of my bad situation.

Of course I believe in giving back and when it came time to film a documentary I was co-producing, I spent a little over a thousand dollars at Greenlyph. But I have definitely price-checked and not only are Greenlyph's prices the best in the city, but they also have the best warranties I have seen. And their products are the exact same as the big mega computer stores. I don't know how they do it, but I am a customer for life at this amazing little computer store.

I've never purchased anything from Greenlyph, but oh man can I vouch for their repairs. My laptop contains my entire life (and I suck at remembering to back up my files) so I panicked on the dark day when I was greeted with the Blue Screen Of Death. Not to fear, though - the guys at Greenlyph got it back to me in a jiffy, and it was as though nothing had ever happened. Plus they're really friendly and help you make daunting decisions like "Buy a new laptop or pay for new parts for this one?"

There's something comforting about knowing that a guy like Jeremy is around, just in case the... you know... data hits the fan.  This amiable fellow really knows his business, which is selling and repairing computers.  He's friendly and helpful and knowledgeable and honest... qualities you'll never get in a big-box electronics store employee. And the great thing is, if something goes wrong with your computer (whether you bought it in his shop or not), he can fix it without shipping the blessed thing off to Japan for six months.

Best computer shop in the city, without a doubt.

This is a great little (no seriously, it's really little!) computer shop with excellent prices and a knowledgeable staff who are more interested in helping you out than taking your money.

I can remember walking into Greenlyph recently with what I thought was a major job. I had a couple internal hard drives from an old computer that I wanted to grab some data from. The problem was that I had recently purchased an Imac, making it impossible to hook up the hard drives...or so I thought.

With relative ease the guys behind the counter tossed out some suggestions before finally settling on a piece of equipment that would connect my hard drives via usb, esentially transforming my internal hard drives into externals.

Quick, painless, easy and much cheaper than the "Data Recovery Options" suggested to me by a big chain store.

The knowledge, exceptional customer service and shockingly low prices are what helps make Greenlyph the best computer store in the city.

Friendly staff who are very knowledgeable. You won't get screwed by these guys. Small selection is only downside, as they are a little independent shop..go to Greenlyph when you are sick of the 'Big' stores BS..

Greenlyph seems to flow off of people's lips when you say you need a computer part and can not find it. That was the case for me. I was actually in a big-box store, trying to buy a video-card for a computer. They did not have it. The sales guy actually told me about Greenlyph.

He said when ever one of his customers needs something they do not stalk, the first place he calls is Greenlyph. So he did while I was there.

I was really impressed and the amount of professionalism and respect given to this company. Well, Greenlyph searched and called us back with a quote on the product. They have a very loyal customer here.

I've shopped at Greenlyph for years and never had a problem with any orders until just recently.

I ordered a system three weeks ago and was initially told I could pick it up in two days. It's now been three weeks, 8 missed delivery dates and I'm still waiting for the system. Greenlyph are blaming their suppliers for screwing up orders, cards not being available, etc. They offered an alternative to the original video card, but even that alternative appears to be delayed. I don't mind waiting for the system, but I'm quite annoyed at the number of "guaranteed" delivery dates that have come and gone. Latest delivery date promise is tomorrow. We'll see...

I'd still recommend Greenlyph as my past experiences have always been good, but this situation has soured me a little.

These guys are friendly without being obsequious and wow they back their products. For years it was easy as I recommended Dell but then Dell went way down hill and I was stuck for a computer purchase recommendation. Then I discovered GL and that was it. Now my recommendation is "Go to greenlyph and they will take care of you. You can get a better price at places like Staples but the value for money will be so poor that you will regret not buying from GL."

Right after moving to town both my boyfriend M. and I had minor computer issues we needed to deal with. First, our PC's fan was getting super loud, so loud that it was becoming a nuisance in our small apartment. M. hauled the thing a few blocks down to Greenlyph and had exceptional service. The fix was cheap and quick, just the way you want it to be. Next, M.'s new laptop was having screen issues that he'd already tried to have fixed by the company once, but that were still causing problems. The guys at Greenlyph took a look and new exactly what the issue was straight away. With their help, and his new and improved vocabulary, M. was able to contact the manufacturer and clearly communicate what the issue was. While we were in asking about one of these issues, I asked the guys behind the counter about cooling tables for laptops, as mine had been heating up more than usual. They convinced me that although they had them in stock (and ostensibly would like to sell some of them) this was not what I needed. Good advice, and I was able to get a free servicing from my manufacturer to address the problem at its source. Their advice didn't make them any money, but it did earn them a loyal customer.
