This is where I get to put my "Back in the Day" hat on, and say that I remember when Down One used to be one of the two Down Under pubs that were found right across the street from each other.  Those days are gone, and the Down Under to the north is now the Flatiron and Firkin (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...) on Wellington, and the Down Under to the south is now Down One.  It still stays true to its initial inception from back in the day.  This is a place where you can go in play pool.

Once you go downstairs, as you would expect from a place named Down One, you're faced with pool table upon pool table lining a bar against the side wall.  A back room provides more tables and a flat area for lounging and, if need be, dancing.  A large TV fills the back hall, so you're able to catch any of the games that are available while you shoot stick.  The bar is well stocked, and the kitchen provides various amounts of finger foods for you to nosh on while you try and not sink the cue ball.

This place is geared towards not only individuals wanting to come in and play pool, have a drink, and have some laughs.  Down One can also be booked for corporate pool parties and "teambuilding exercises" where you're able to play, drink, and laugh at how bad your boss is at doing bank shots.  With all this available for corporate parties, I'm sure there had been many a career limiting move made here.  It's probably a good thing that the prices are reasonable.

I went in a big group for my cousin's birthday. Walking into this dark basement bar you are greeted with loud music and billiard tables, lots of them. Atmosphere is fun as are the people here. There is a small dance floor in the back and this place gets packed on the weekends with the older college crowd and they are ready to party but can handle themselves. Not many loud dbags and fights goin on here. Drinks are cheap and service is fast.

Overall, it is a good place to hang out with friends if you don't mind loud music and a dance floor too small to dance on. The pool rates and drink prices are good and may just be enough to keep you coming back. How could you not have fun playing pool and drinking?
