Awesome little pub I discovered when I first moved to Van, and now live right by it! It's more like a British style pub than most people in Vancouver will be used to, with it's older crowd 'regulars' and typical pub fare.
However it's a decent atmosphere, especially if there's a sports game on, with good beers on tap. They do a lot of the tasty Whistler ales, and pour what is probably the best pint of Strongbow in Vancouver (that costs under ten bucks at least!)
The serving staff have always been attentive and nice to talk to, and always seem to be one step ahead when it comes to needing another beer. The food is actually really high quality for the price, with poutine that's great for sharing, great pulled pork sliders and red hot spicy chicken wings.
Definitely check out the $3 beer Tuesdays, and I'm sure you'll be back! -

This is very decent local pub, if you are in the West End. Not sure I would make the trek out here just to be here.
The servers are friendly, and the food is decent. I like their fries and the burgers are decent. There are several TV's to catch the games. This place has always placed emphasis on showing soccer. So good place to catch some good European/FA soccer games. -

An Ode to Dover Arms
Some say you're a dive and have no style
Some say you're awkward and don't stay awhile
But I know better, my dear Dover Arms
You're not my scene, but are full of charm
Playoff season is when you shine
Even for me, who drinks only wine
You may be pricey with a small-town vibe
But I like those things that are hard to describe
With your odd older crowd and 90s rock feel
I know what I'm getting when you serve me a meal
So I'm telling you, the sayers of nay
This dim little bar will change your day-to-dayListed in: My West End, Denman Delights

I really like this place! Decent greasy pub grub and a low key enviroment. The staff are all fun and treat everyone like the regulars. I can't help but LOL at all the people complaining about the clientele or the decor, it's a pub not a lounge/bar? HAH. Came here after a wedding and upon walking in a regular said to my husband (in a suit+tie) "hey buddy, there's a dress code here!" while gesturing at his jeans and t shirt :) I love it here. Great place to watch sports, especially soccer.

First time I was ever really in there, I met this guy who was super friendly to me, and after a few drinks, he started to yell at me and call me names. I laughed it off, and the bartender told him to cut it out. I didn't have any problems with him, other than him yelling at me... he WAS wasted. Just as long as he doesn't go any further than that.
So, yeah. Tuesday $3 beerz tax in?? Come on! It's way better here than the Cambie! And there's no mice, the servers are friendly, and the food is tasty. What more can you ask for? A band on weekends you say? They got that too! -

Don't go here expecting to pick up a hottie or get laid. I love places like this. Older crowd, people just coolin' out having a beer, no fuss, you can walk in here in your pajamas and no one would care. Hey, hey! Friendly staff as most hole-in-the-wall pubs tend to have. When you get down to your last 10 dollar stretch, don't fret.. there is a liquor store right next door.

Great place to chill and have a pint. They have food that is well above average for pub food - I had a special that included a NY Strip, grilled prawns, vegetables and mashed potatoes - and it was uncommonly good.
The prices are a bit high in general but about par for the area - $6 for a pint of Granville Island Lager, and entrees in the $10-15 range. The aforementioned special was $13, and worth every penny.
They also have live music on weekends, which I caught the first few minutes of last Saturday. (wasn't bad) -

Upon walking in I notice comfy chairs, a dim yet calming lighting. I appreciate the number & size of TV's, as my hubby & I are sports fans. Menu has typical Canadian pub food with the option to upgrade your sammie's side of fries to any of their poutine choices. The fireplace and dark walls, flooring, and ceiling add to it's cozy feel! Great place to relax & enjoy the evening with a good friend. Food and service were decent, but nothing extraordinary. I enjoyed the atmosphere, so I will definitely be back!

Dover Arms has saved me many a night. Now I don't refer to the actual bar portion. The bar itself is shocking for the West End.
Old drunks, classic rock and Canadian on tap. Not my scene. Okay, I love classic rock, but I don't need AC/DC sing-a-longs with my seniors.
I'm impressed/surprised this place thrives in the WE. Yaletown would eat this bar for breakfast.
The attached cold beer and wine store, now that's where my moneys at. Open late seven days a week. The friendly staff have saved me from sobriety on many occasions. Dare I venture they shall again. -

Oh Dover, you funny lil bar. You are a dive, in a good way. You got that small town 90's feel. I can handle that. I like your onion rings. I like that back on Christmas Day in 1999 you were open to sell me beer while other places were not. I was new in town and you showed me some love that morning.. er ..afternoon.. I know I don't visit you often enough but that's probably a good thing. You have plenty of regulars already.

small town bar right on denman. i don't know how old this place is but it seems like some of the people have been coming here for 20 years to play some keno, watch some sports and catch up with their best friends of 30 year over a pint or 2 while the wife is cooking at home.
friendly server ladies, decent prices and good food.
they changed the menu and don't serve onion rings anymore but we were able to get the last batch, leftover from the menu change.
good place to watch hockey and forget about the fact that you're in downtown vancouverListed in: best (pub) food (Vancouver)

Can't stand this place. Smelly, crowded seating, sad people, no cool vibe. Feels like a retail store went out of business and they plopped down some seats and chairs. Only works because of no competition. We deserve better in the West End. Will someone PLEASE open at least one cool pub/lounge in this area? PLEASE??

Very friendly place. Agreed, it's an older crowd, but typically your usual regular pub-dwellers. Not a place for the 20-something scenesters, but if you want to catch a hockey game, have a few pints, and some pretty decent pub fare, it can't be beat. The staff are all unbelievably friendly, and some of the girls working there are smoking hot!

Odd and awkward bar, with matching clientele. Soho or Calling are much more my speed
