Having worked for the Red Lion at 3 sites totalling over 8 years of primo hotel service my standards are high. It's possible to be gracious and to listen and to extend self to listen, realize that what a guest is asking for is ok, no trouble and will not hurt anyone. However, some people need to apparently- be rude and power-trip.
Front desk staff with whom I spoke had varying abilities to be factual and clear.
Shuttle driver- really nice, fine.
Front desk staff whom I met fine.
Restaurant server- very gracious.
Communications w/ staff to help a guest- major fail which became apparent when I arrived and someone changed a plan in an ungraceful manner.
Pool clean and very nice.
I began with a 3, felt like a 2. However many excellent interactions influenced my rating. The staff member who power-tripped and chose to ignore communications will ultimately be found out. as thi s is a tough quality. -
Review from Lisa D.
The beds here are so very, very comfortable. I always end up very well rested when I stay at the Doubletree! The rooms do not have in room fridges or microwaves however you can request that one be brought up. The exercise room is decent although I wish they had more than one bike. Hot tub and pool were closed when I stayed there. The cleaning staff was fine and the front desk staff were ok. The in room heater/AC units tend to be noisy.
I've had two meeting/conferences here and they did an outstanding job with the rooms and catering. The food was delicious and the serving staff were all very nice and accomodating. The rooms themselves were three stars but the great job the hotel did with the meeting bumped everything up in my eyes. -

The Doubletree Hotel in Spokane is a very expensive restaurant and hotel business. The food is very expensive and well prepared. The hotel very comfortable and high priced.$ The Doubletree Hotel also gives big ballroom dances. Food is prepared all day for the ballroom dances. The dress for the balls is formals for the women and suits for the men. The hotel is expensive, the food really good, and people have a lot of fun at the balls.

If I can be honest, Yelp friends, I think my idea of hotel "rating" is a little more critical than most. I find most all chain hotels to be pretty bland/boring/less than normal.
That being said, the DoubleTree in Spokane is A-OK with me. It never hurts to be greeted with a warm, delicious cookie.
The location is great, right in downtown, next to the convention center, right by the river, close to the mall, etc. The hotel itself.....well.... it's pretty normal. There is a room with a TV, bathroom, bed, chair and desk. It has some lamps and mostly bland and unoffensive art on the wall.
It's clean and is at a good temperature when you arrive.
I don't want to be overly verbose so i'll leave it at this. This is a good hotel if you are staying in Spokane. I will probably make this my regular spot. It's no Davenport, but for the price and location, will do most anyone just fine, maybe even a little bit of an upgrade as most chain hotels go.
I would recommend the Davenport (The "Dav" if you are a local) if you want something nice, different, more elegant. -
Review from Lori F.
I was recently here for a convention at the hotel, I also stayed the night in the hotel itself.
Convention space was good and pretty easy to find your way around in. On a side note - there is no 2nd floor, at least that we could find. Both the stairs and the elevator go directly from the main floor to the 3rd floor. So most of the convention space seems to be on these two floors.
The rooms were very nice and very clean! The beds were incredibly comfortable although the pillows were a little mushier then I typically like but I just piled up a couple of them and it evened out. Depending on which side of the hotel you end up on, you can get a very nice view - our room looked out over the park next door which was quite beautiful.
Also yay for awesome, free, still-warm chocolate chip cookies!
Parking is actually in the shared garage for the hotel and the convention center. The downside is having to pay $16 a night to park but everything else during my stay was great! -

Reasons I fell in love with this hotel:
1) FREE shuttle to and from the airport (just call and tell them which airline you flew, and they arrived in ~20 minutes; when leaving, just sign up for the shuttle near the entrance)!
2) Upon check-in they handed me 2 WARM chocolate chip cookies!
3) Clean rooms. Meaning I wasn't afraid to touch things! Including the bathroom. Yay!
4) Super friendly staff.
5) Location: right next to the Convention Center and river, and walking distance to downtown nightlife.
6) Dining hall breakfast buffet in the cafe downstairs and a classy steak house (where room service comes from), if you're fancy like that.
7) FREE bottled water!
Not so much:
1) The pillows are way too soft! Got a freakin' neck/shoulder ache by the end of my stay, which lasted a week! I hate pansy bedding!
2) No free continental breakfast. Sad face.
Basically, this is a great hotel when considering the price! -

Huge room (maybe 600 square feet or more?). Nice and clean.
HDTV was really bad though. The brightness settings were very low and I saw no way to manually bring them up, so every TV show was very dark. It's also easy to hear noise from other rooms (TV noise, people talking, etc.). -

This is a great choice for staying in the Spokane area. We got a good deal on the room through Priceline and was offered an upgrade through the hotel. The room was very clean and the staff is friendly. They do have flat screen TVs and the room that we upgraded to was very spacious with a separate area for watching TV and relaxing.
The location is perfect and is surrounded by anything you could possibly want. Restaurants-Check, Park-Check, Skating Rink-Check, Carousel-Check, Mall/Movies-Check. So the only time you should even need your car is to conduct the business you came to Spokane for and most of that is in the area as well.
My only complaint is that other than the flat screen TVs, the furniture is a little dated. All in all I think it's still a great hotel and I'll definitely stay there again! -

Pros: Very comfortable bed, HD channels, well-functioning thermostat, and a really nice workout area.
Cons: Breakfast is not included, room fixtures seemed a bit worn/outdated, no fridge and workout room is packed from 5:30 to 7PM.
The beds were superior to everywhere else I've stayed in Spokane. The tv didn't get a huge variety of channels - but at least 5 of them were HD which was a nice touch. The workout area had 2 precor ellipticals and 3 treadmills as well as free weights and a bike, unfortunately it fills up quick and its sometimes still hard to snag a machine. Overall I was pleased with the experience, but for work-related travel I think I will continue to stay at the Holiday Inn Express on the Rock. I like having a fridge and free breakfast in the morning and beer & snacks in the evening. -

To be fair... much of what I enjoy about this property is the result of my being a Gold Member in Hilton HHonors (free parking, room upgrades, free breakfast, etc.) but all in all, I think this is a very solid 4-star hotel.
The property is an older three-wing style tower. Although most of the room interiors have been updated.. the bathrooms are small, and some of the furniture is also dated. The new flat screen TVs are a nice touch though. I'm almost always upgraded (stayed here three times this year) to a King Premium -- these floor plans are MUCH larger than the standard room. If you look at the exterior of the hotel they are the rooms at the end of each wing with the massive bank of windows.
The hotel is connected to the Convention Center which is nice when participating in events hosted there.
The location in downtown is nice and makes most things walkable.
Spencer's Steakhouse is a great food option inside of the hotel if you don't want to walk elsewhere. Pricey, but totally worth it. -
Review from Dawn C.
With our bi-annual trips to Missoula, knowing Spokane hotel stops is key. Doubletree is solid. All the moreso because, as long as there's not a convention in town, rooms are available at a very reasonable rate--either as a walk-up or on Priceline.
I'm not one to nitpick hotel furniture, unless it's a boutique or an Inn it's all the same to me. All I care about is the clean, and this Doubletree has it. Additionally, the flat screens are nice, free and reliable wi-fi another plus, and the Starbucks/restaurant make it easy to get up and hit the road the following morning.
I think all yelpers have noted, the true benny of this hotel stop is the location. You're right in beautiful downtown, and the river park is a mere three blocks away. There's nothing like checking in to a hotel and being able to saunter around outside, stretch your legs, and get some fresh air. All without having to cross an eight-lane highway! On your way back from the walk, you can eat your Doubletree cookie sans guilt.
Final bonus for dog people--you can bring your four-legged friends! -

Pros: This is a great place for staying in Spokane. The rooms are reasonably priced and the staff is awesome! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I left my cell phone in my car when I valet parked it, and I called down and the valet quickly brought it to my room. The room service was quick and the food was fairly good. I had the romaine heart salad which was over-dressed, but the fillet mignon was melt in your mouth delicious and cooked perfectly!
Cons: valet parking $22/night. The tv satellite reception kept sticking which was annoying while watching tv at night and the heater is extremely loud. -

You know what they say...location, location, location.
This hotel sits along the beautiful River Front Park. There is a trail for your running / walking pleasure, a very clean outdoor hotel pool, and a small gym on the 3rd floor. The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. Service is courteous, parking is on site in a garage (free if you are a Gold or Diamond member), and the best part.....a chocolate chip cookie when you check in (of course I asked for one every afternoon when I got back from work). You can't beat the location; besides sitting on the river, it's in the heart of downtown and within walking distance of the mall, bars and restaurants.
It also helps that it's right at the Convention Center.
Happy travels! -

We brought a group event to the hotel and loved it.
Pro's:
Location, Location, Location---on the riverfront, close to downtown and the convention center no need to drive. If you are staying downtown don't even rent a car...catch the shuttle and walk to dozens of places to eat and drink.
Staff--Banquet and front desk were exceptional. We spend an inordinate amount of time in hotels for work and play and I can tell you that I appreciate staff that recognizes and vaules its customers.
Cookies---Warm and endless, just ask and you can have one whenever.
Towels--love them, rich and lush...tempting to take home
Lobby--totally renovated, looks nice and inviting
Neither here nor There:
Spencers---good but not noteable
Rooms---I have no complaints but typical for an older tower....soon to be renovated though
Parking---I am Hilton Diamond so parking is no charge...
Con's:
IT Equipment rental cost---OUTRAGEOUS and exhorbitant...so bad I am embarassed to say how many thousands...dont do it!
Otherwise, I love this place and stay here all the time. I have stayed in nearly every worthwhile hotel in Spokane and this is one of the best and for location and price it is the best. -

Bellevue, WA
It was listed $149/night and I got it for $75 via priceline. Great location, clean and neat. If people who are concern about abesto, you should better check with them in advance. There was pop-corn ceiling (abesto) in the room and the front desk didn't disclose much about it and just asked me to sign a "no-smoking floor" and another B-4 sized note. If you don't like central AC, that's the place. However, the old style AC/heater was pretty noisy.
Pros
-good price via Priceline
-Cafe opens at 6am. Starbucks cofffee booth
-Convenient. Walking distant to convention center, Chilis & Azteca.
-Pretty good service
-welcome gift (a chocolate cookie) for discounted; a whole can of cookies for full priced room
Cons
-old AC/heater
-pop corn ceiling
-old building
-$16/night garage parking for guest
I have no concern about abesto since I would only stay there for a few days but I expect more from a 4-star hotel though. I hope it will remodel very soon. If I pay full price, I would try Marriot in a block. -

Issaquah, WA
The hotel room was outdated, but it was clean. Good location for Spokane, but the staff were not pleasant, no smiles or welcomes, quite cold and seemed put off. (maybe they were having a collective bad day?) My fellow vacationers and I were in great moods despite their bad attitudes!
Yet all that would have warranted a 3 -star rating. The reason for the low one star rating is the poor customer service after my car was damaged while in their valet parking (@$20/night) My friends and I noticed it had been parked in front of the hotel right up against another car the first night, but assumed they would take care when moving vehicles in/out. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case.
When they brought it up after checkout, the valet attendant didn't know how to park a Prius and left it in neutral, then exited the car! (it's the big button that says "PARK" next to the wheel) It began rolling away fast and my friend was fast at catching it and put it in park, as the valet was already gone. No one was hurt... all was ok.
Then we noticed the huge scratch running along the passenger side. The valet didn't care much and I asked to see the manager. The manager was kind, offered his apologies and offered to send payment for the repair. Two years later though, and no follow up from the manager or hotel.
This experience has put me off from ever considering staying in another Double Tree again. -

Englewood, CO
As mentioned in previous reviews, the location of this property is fantastic. It is right along the riverfront with extremely easy access to the trail and downtown, close to several restaurants, some bars, a few boutique shops, a bookstore, a nice grocery co-op, and the Riverfront Park mall. Located inside the lobby is a Starbucks kiosk, but since there is only one barista, it can be quite hectic and a bit of a wait in the mornings.
The front desk staff are very professional and welcoming, especially Manal. The rooms are pretty nice, especially the ones on the top floor with a view of the river. I agree with a previous poster about the bathrooms being small. A majority of the issue is that the bathroom doors swing inwards, so you have to maneuver to avoid being pushed into the toilet.
The garage can be a bit scary at night, since it is separate from the hotel, but it is fairly well lit. The room service is prompt and friendly. I have stayed here on numerous occasions and definitely recommend this place to anyone needing a place to stay in Spokane. -

Spencers is decent but the CI's behind the Double Tree is much better... Good drinks nice staff. -

When I first moved to Spokane I was living out of (various different) hotels, this one was my favorite. I had a great room with an AWESOME view of the river and Gonzaga. I only paid about $79 (booked through http://hotwire.com and got lucky, I suggest you do the same).
If you want a nice place to stay in Spokane, but don't want to break the bank, this is your place. -

Good value (hotwire), walking distance to downtown, Division Street and GU. The hotel is clean and comfortable and newer than the Red Lion Inn down the street. Solid hotel.
TIP: If you're not offered a cookie, do not be shy...ask for one! They are extremely soft and gooey and delicious. My sister (who is allergic to walnuts) couldn't stop eating hers, even tho her lip started to swell up. YES, they are *that* good. -

Hotel is very nice. The staff is friendly, professional and full of great information about Spokane. Loved the bed! What really sells me on this hotel is its location...it's in downtown Spokane, out-the-door access to the Centennial Trail, cross the footbridge and you're in Riverfront Park, walking distance to great shopping and restaurants. When I go to Spokane again I will definitely return to this hotel!

Portland, OR
A nice hotel with an amazing location. I came in town for work for a week and stayed here.
As always, Doubletrees and their fresh warm cookies are fantastic! The beds are comfortable and they have the best hotel towels out of all the places I typically stay for work.
My only complaint - housekeeping. I usually don't care whether I receive housekeeping or not, since I'm always in hotels and no one cleans up after me at home, that's my job. But, I stayed on the 15th floor, housekeeping was knocking on my door daily at 8am if I forgot to put the DND door hanger out, and if I didn't leave my room for the day before 10am, housekeeping didn't clean it. Also, I left a bag of trash next to the trash can (because the dividers in the trash can for trash and recycling make it so you can't put much in them...) and after 5 days, it's still there. Housekeeping did come in this time frame, but never took the trash.
If you can look past the housekeeping issues, which I can, this hotel is great. Great location for downtown, Riverfront Park, as well as all the entertainment facilities in downtown Spokane - highly recommended! -

Stayed here to attend a convention. Was picked up in a timely manner at the airport and check in was a breeze. The room was very nice and comfortable.I needed a late checkout and they offered me a 4 hour extension. Very nice place on the river, close to many restaurants, and right next to the convention center.

Phoenix, AZ
I usually love this hotel but I was very disappointed this stay. There was a strong smell of gas on the fourth floor that no one knew anything about. I had a broken toilet and the wall unit for my heater wouldn't work at all and the heater itself wouldn't turn off on it's own when I put it on Auto. When I tried to explain to the young guy at the front desk he had no idea what I was talking about and got sarcastic with me rather than say he didn't know. I heard later he was sarcastic with another crew member. There was no hot water for two of us and the van took us to the airport ten minutes late after dropping off another crew while two other vans sat parked. I'll give them three stars this time only because the gentleman at the front desk the night before and the one at the reastaurant the next morning were very nice.

Review from Brad H.
This is a wonderful Double tree that really lives up to the Hilton name. Although it has been a while since I have stayed here, I still remember how friendly the staff were after a horrible stay at the Travellodge across the street. The front desk provided me a pickup from their lobby so I wouldnt have to carry my bags across the street and provided a very competitive rate (granted I know the occupancy rate was likely low at the time, but it is the service and thought that counts). The rooms are quiet and the beds are very comfortable.

The hotel itself is great - rooms are clean, pool is nice, staff is friendly, location is convenient. The only downside: paying $16 a night for parking in Spokane is not cool!

This is one nice Doubletree. The rooms are very clean and the hotel is right across from River Front Park. They have a bunch of banquet rooms for conventions and the employees are always friendly and helpful. They have ample parking and it's within walking distance of most anywhere downtown you would need to go.

Review from Nicole F.
Old, outdated hotel. Your two parking options: in the hotel garage for $16 per night, or valet for $22 per night--ridiculous. And the garage isn't connected to the hotel, so you have to park your car outside the lobby, unload all your stuff, check in,go up to your room--all while leaving your car at the front door (which is what everyone else is doing, so you just pray someone doesn't block you in) then go back to your car and drive it around to the garage--big hassle. Didn't feel safe walking back from my car to the hotel by myself. Bathrooms barley large enough for one person. Rooms are clean, and carpet is newer, but TV's,hallways, elevators outdated and furniture badly scratched--I have a room with a great view of the river and the city on the 15th floor, so if you can get a room with a view, ask for one. The other reviewer is correct--it is a popcorn ceiling. There is Wolfgang Puck coffee and Numi tea in the room and a one cup brewer. There's one nice white terrycloth spa robe in each room. Free internet access with code they give you at the front desk. Personally, I prefer the Oxford Suites which is right around the corner with free parking, updated rooms, and free beer, wine, soda and finger foods for guests Monday through Friday (and perhaps even Saturday).
