Review from Thom H.
Like many Toronto neighbourhoods, there's a number of coffee and gelato shops on the Danforth that don't really want your patronage. They are gathering places for people of a certain ethnic background and/or professional affiliation. I will speculate no further about the nature of these businesses.
From the outside, Double Shots looks inviting. It's signage is new and it looks very welcoming. But once I had opened the door - committing myself to going inside - I felt very much like I'd walked in on an private gathering.
Things progressed cordially once the gentlemen in the place figured out which of them was doing the serving. "You've never been in here before, have you?" the server asked. Was it a simple polite question or some cryptic piece of advice? I really couldn't tell. Awkward banter between myself and the other gentlemen started and stalled repeatedly.
Despite the cool climate, a single, long Double Shots espresso was exceptionally good, and only $1. That means I plan on going back. I hope that's okay with them. -

The first reviewer is correct: This is a place that isn't interested in having patrons that aren't already known to them. BUT, if you're 'in the know' and you want some form of opiates, then this is the place to go-especially obvious after a bust on August 11 by Toronto police. So, for the law-abiding, this probably ain't the place to go even if bad espresso is your 'thing'.

Review from Joe D.

My wife and I ventured to the end of our street in an attempt to get some caffeine. She was looking for a flavoured latte; me, an americano.
Unfortunately, this place failed at both. First, they have no flavour shots for lattes. (This, in my mind, is understandable - be all about the coffee.) Second, the americano I got was low on flavour - I should have been tipped off due to the lack of crema-foam on the top of the americano. (But it was cheap, at $2.)
Finally, this place seems sort of "sketchy" at best. Lots of guys standing around in front and inside, talking loudly about business deals and other things. Does not feel inviting at all. I'll be avoiding this place in future.
