This was my hair spot when I used to live in Canada and Angelina was my girl! She's a sweetheart and gives the BEST scalp massages using Aveda hair oil. I always left more than satisfied with my hair length, layers and bangs. I'm the type of person to bring pictures along and Angelina would always let me know how I could get my dream hair :) The location is really convenient, you can get some window or actual shopping in before your appointment (H&M is nearby). And you also get a free makeup touch up (blush/bronzer and some lip gloss) afterwards.

This is the place where I always go to when I want to get my hair treated or blow-dried. I've always had great experiences with Donato's and am always satisfied with my hair upon leaving.
Donato's is the hugest salon in Square One and has pretty good customer service. The staff are friendly and will make you feel comfortable during your appointment. They also have coat check so you don't have to worry about leaving your belongings lying around when you get your hair washed.
This morning I called in to hopefully book an appointment for the same day. Luckily, I got to come into Donato's for my 2 hour Keratherapy hair treatment. This hair treatment is very expensive (approximately $300), so be sure to sign up to their weekly beauty find. They have pretty decent deals when I do receive their emails but I usually only buy their beauty deals if I get a great deal. In the past I've gotten the buy 1 blow dry and get 3 free (too good of a deal so they don't offer it anymore =(), and the Keratherapy treatment.
My stylist for today did a great job on my hair and was friendly during our conversation. While she was finishing off my hair I noticed 1 white strand of hair and started to panic. I asked her to pull it out for me and she did =D. I don't believe in the pull 1 out and 2 will grow back.
After my appointment I had to pick up a bottle of Keratherapy shampoo, conditioner, and argon oil, which added another $70 on top of my hair =(. Luckily, I had the beauty deal so my hair treatment was 50% off the regular price. -

Being in the mall, this place gets an astronomical amount of traffic!
That being said, make sure you call ahead and book an appointment.
My fav stylist is no longer at this location, which sucked for me.
I was passed on to another senior stylist 2. For a hair cut with them is 75.00
I happen to have long hair, so experience is necessary. I'm also a control freak so I'm quite picky with how I want things. (confession moment?)
The stylist was sweet, she didn't give me much feedback or the step to step update. Naturally I asked, every step of the way. (I'm a nightmare.. I'm aware).
I got my cut and I was quite happy with it. It seemed like I had to instruct her a few times to get the right type of cut for my frame. Which is a bit disappointing, Considering she's the one with the experience.
Total : $84.75
tip $10.00 (I'm a nightmare but I'm not cheap)
fun fact: If you are a client of the salon, they will "refresh" your bangs for free. She was kind enough to let me know this. So if you happen to be in the mall and your bangs need a refresher, go in and ask if a stylist is free for a few min.

Oh how i love you so! So I started going to Donato for waxing services and my gal is the best in the biz. Her name is Stana. She is just so warm and has always made me feel comfortable. I rave about her to my friends cause she talks to you and you kinda forget what your there for lol. She is very thorough and you can tell (and she has said) she takes pride in what she does and she does it well. I mean it still will always kinda hurt but she makes it easy for you to handle and shes just lovely! Now the brazillians are 60+tax but your in a nice calming room with spa music playing and comfort cant get any better in this situation. The quality of person and service is worth the money!!
As for the hair stuff, ive gone once and had my hair dyed but they wouldnt blow dry/ straighten it for me which i have never heard of before and its def a money grab. This is straight from the website:
* Quick dry-offs are included by an assistant. We will provide brushes and blow dryers for use if you wish to style your own hair. If you wish to have a styled blow dry a separate appointment is required with a stylist.*
i have very curly hair like i dont like to wear out alot so for me to have to leave with semi dry hair when i just paid 80 bucks....not cool
i give it 5 stars though because the spa services + Stana deserve it...the salon id give 1 star lol -

I've been going to Donato for haircuts for years back when they had 'new talent' stylists.
My last cut was with Senior Stylist level II by the name of Leo (If I remember correctly) and he did a superb job! I have thick straight long hair and I really dislike stylists who insist the only way to change the look is to lop off 6-7inches. Leo didn't make any such fuss, got me a style that flatters my face and did it all in less than 20 minutes.
The price is a bit on the higher side ($84 after tax) but the quality of service is well worth it!
That being said, lot of stylists keep moving up a level and if price is an issue, then you may end up with a new stylist every few months. -

I love Donato. I have tried many other salons and this one is my favorite. They always do a great job with my hair. I am always apprehensive about changing stylists but I've had 4 different stylists at Donato and they have all been awesome.
One of the girls told me that they sent her to New York City for training. She was updated on the latest trends, the company had her stay at a very nice hotel on Park Avenue, she walked away from the training very confident in her skills. It reflected in her work. She gave me the best cuts. She also costs $85 a cut. To a cheapo like me, that's crazy. But so worth it. -

I don't go to Donato Salon and Spa for haircuts but I do go for massage and pedicures.
Massage - For a the true spa massage experience, I go to Donato's. I am sure that I can go to other spas but Donato's is close to my home. I stumbled upon Tash just shortly after I lost someone near and dear to me and I needed someone to loosen all the knots/burden on my shoulders. She applies the right amount of pressure without even being told how much to apply. I asked her how she knew and she said that she can just feel it. Also, I like how she doesn't constantly talk to you. I am sure everyone has experienced the talkative RMT.
Nail Treatments - My rule of thumb is to pay for a top notch pedicure at the beginning of sandal season. My favorite was Dana but she left years ago. She had referred me to Doan. Doan gets the job done. She scrubs and scrubs the winter dryness away and she also is very convincing in colour choice. Before my recent trip to Cuba over the Christmas break, I was sure that I wanted the ever-so-basic, french pedicure since it's pretty natural. Doan convinced me that it's the dead of winter and I am going somewhere hot and sunny, so I should choose a bright colour. She picked a coral colour with the right tint to suit my soon-to-be tanned skin. And I am so glad I went with her choice because on the beach, I couldn't stop smiling at my toes!
I feel that Donato Salon and Spa is quite expensive but it's worth it, if it's not for a regular weekly or monthly visit. -

Gotta say- I was truly able to appreciate the excellent service and quality at Donatos only after trying out other salons that should be run out of basements (many looking like basements claiming to be trendy).
love the square one location the best. -

Mani/pedi and a wash blow dry with a junior is what a experienced at Donato Square one two days ago. I have to admit-it's probably the best mani pedi I've ever had, and my blow dry still looks amazing. I'm a picky gal, and really critical-but this experience was really fantastic...the only negative thing I have to say is that $100 for a mani/pedi is a teensy weensy bit pricey for me for a monthly ritual.

This place was really good. I called them in the morning and they had an availability that day for a cut and colour with a senior stylist 1. She was really good, I left the salon with Victoria Secret bouncy hair :)

I used to go to Donato all the time - they had the most talented hair stylist working there in the past who could always cut my hair exactly right. However, he is no longer there, and when someone else cut my hair the one time (a "senior stylist") I was not completely happy with the hair cut. My biggest problem with this place was that I started out paying I think it was $30 for a hair cut, which was reasonable, but every time I went my stylist went up a level and was more money ... I think it was up to $60 a haircut last time I was there. If you happen to find the right stylist for your hair that may be worth it, but if you don't like the haircut that is way too expensive, plus you never know how much it will cost you each time. I also had an experience once where someone washed my hair and soaked water all down my back - an accident yes but not a pleasant experience. The staff are generally friendly there though and someone recommended an excellent nail treatment once that I still use (although they no longer sell it there). In summary if you try it out and find a great hairstylist then go, but if your haircut doesn't wow you then don't go back, it will just keep costing you more.
