I took the opportunity to check this Italian place out last night. My husband and I took my mother who was craving Italian. We'd been by this place many times as it is tucked in a strip mall not too far from our house.
The atmosphere is nice, much like what you'd expect an Italian family's dining room to look like. The stacked wood for the wood oven as you come in the door was nice and provided a bit of a divider for the room.
The wine selection looked pretty good and we were able to get a bottle of BC red for under $20 which was nice. We ordered the Italian Antipasto to start. It was a bit disappointing as it didn't come with any pickled vegetables and only one type of olive. The meats and cheeses were fresh and the portions were generous, but a bit more variety would have been nice.
For our main course, I had the Veal Scallopine. While the sauce was really nice, the veal was over cooked and a bit tough - not what you'd hope for when ordering veal. My side of pasta with cream sauce was bland, but the pasta was cooked perfectly. The rose sauce on my husband's pasta was much more flavorful. My companions had the Putanesca pasta and the Veal Parmesan. The pasta dish got rave reviews for its fresh sauce with a generous helping of olives and capers. The Veal Parmesan was just ok and also a bit over cooked. The portions were quite filling and we all left with enough for lunch the next day.
The service was great - attentive, but not pushy and we all had a nice time. But the food left me still looking for an Italian restaurant in town that doesn't leave me feeling like I would have been more satisfied cooking at home. -

We decided to check out this restaurant on a recommendation. We did take out so we could eat at home with our toddler. We ordered a ravioli wtih bolognese sauce and domenico's specialty pizza that had everything on it - olives, ham, peppers, artichokes. The ravioli tasted like it was straight out of a can and our pizza was so salty that I couldn't event taste the toppings. I don't think we'd ever go back. I had better ravioli the other day from White Spot!
