My grandmere has left a legacy in our family - an attraction towards dollar stores. All those years accompanying her as she stocked up on anything and everything for $1 just created habits for me.

This Dollar Giant opened in my neck of the woods where the BC Liquor used to be (before they upgraded to the new location and turned into a Signature BC Liquor). I needed random things which I always go to the dollar store to buy, mostly cleaning products like sponges and microfiber cloth so Dollar Giant was my logical choice.

The store is huge in dollar store standards. It should be called "Dollar and a quarter" store, everything is $1.25. Which is still ridiculously cheap. They had a large cleaning supply aisle and I was able to acquire several cleaning tools. I did see a ghetto swifter duster for, well, $1.25, but alas, I have the actual and more expensive actual swifter duster.

Aside from cleaning products I always check out hair accessories. I bought a cool contraption to make a chignon in a different dollar store but had lost it, but yay I found them there so I bought one! I also bought a large hand mirrow, a package of 4 louffas, a flowered bobble hair tie, ghetto bumpits (and yesss the last box in store), some baby shampoo for makeup brush cleaning, a flexi-plastic flipper and spoon for cooking, and a plastic spray bottle. And yay everything was just $1.25.

This place is awesome for people who are frugile like me! And honestly, why pay more on cleaning sponges and hair accessories than necessary?

    CHEAP CANDY.

No, seriously the candy bars here are around 75 cents, and they have cheap drinks.

That aside, this is a pretty standard Dollar Giant unlike the one at Metrotown though which has some items for $2 everything here is a $1.25 but the selection range isn't as great as the one at metrotown.  I honestly don't buy that much here (besides cheap candy, and juice).

The stationary section is...awful. But in terms of cleaning supplies, gift wrap, photo frames and some craft things, and containers it's not too bad. It's better than a lot of dollar stores around the city these days, and this store is fairly well organized and kept most of the time.

I also have to ask why must dollar stores have such an awful toy selection? My inner child cringes at some of these toys. However, I did notice that oddly they have an awesome selection of kids books, and colouring books. Incredibles picture book? A My Little Pony Colouring Book? Damn I want those!  (I'm an animator do not judge! Do not judge!)

Lots if arts n craft goodies which I keep telling myself I should get to make some creative festive holiday stuff.

The other stuff is your basic run of the mill Dollar Giant dollar store items.
Most of the stuff I wouldn't buy to personally use and wouldn't get as a gift for fear of being labelled as cheap.  I do however think it's a great store to buy stuff for my exes.  :)

It's always so nice to see the look on their faces when they get a big colourfull bag of $1 items that they would probably never use.

On the other hand, all jokes aside.
There are alot of neat items for stocking stuffers and emergency items like wrapping paper, colourful bags, crafts stuff and.....cassette tapes..... for your special love mix recordings to listen to in you vintage 1970's Ford Pinto or your vintage Sony walkman.
