Review from Lisa T.
best gelato i've ever tried.
they always switch up their flavours and there's always something there that calls out to my taste buds. they have a smaller selection of flavours but in comparison to la casa, this place seems to serve fresher gelato.
i think the official name is gelateria dolce amore. i used my entertainment book coupon for this which makes it doubly worth it!! -

Likely the best gelato in town. There are others, but this one is the best IMHO.
I usually get mango and vanilla. They use actual vanilla bean in the gelato.
Very busy during the summer months, and parking can be a bit of a pain. -

A gelato outside Italy is never a (full) gelato, but Dolce Amore is something close to the real Italian gelato.
I'm not sure if this review is a final one, because I'm going to Dolce Amore agin and I want to try a different flavor every time! Plus my first visit did count, because I usually benchmark gelato based on strawberry flavor, which was not available that night :( sad! I know.
I sampled the blood orange and had a full scoop of apricot :) and it was really great! Not too sweet, not too sour, it was really balanced. My wife and kids picked the bubblegum gelato (how typical) and I tried the bubblegum, it was soooo goooood because it taste like bubblegum, soft and has some bubblegum bits as a bonus ...
The server were somewhat friendly, but the owner presence seems to cause some tension in the whole shop. The sitting area is nice, but you feel that you're under surveillance 8( but wasn't so bad after all.
The shop does not accept cards, which was a bit of a mess, where I had to rush and look for an ATM machine to get some cash! WHY Delce Amore why ????
The overall experience was very positive, so I'm a fan and I can't wait to come again and again!
Ps. The real gelato never gives you a-gelato-sick feeling. Dolce Amore serves real gelato -

Why is this place listed twice under two similar names? Weird.
Anyway, the line isn't too long. Pay first. Free parking around the corner.
Compared to La Casa it seemed really fresh, just like the other Yelpers stated, and the lack of 1000 flavours was not a big deal.
Same price.
Two scoops in two separate bowls with tax- $9.00
Two scoops in one bowl-only 1.50 extra with tax, but one per person is all you need.
I loved the chocolate and everything related to chocolate. I could not get the choco-peanut butter here, but my chocolate was so cocoa-ish and tasted divine.
I was told the sorbets were just as good as La Casa; I'm sceptical. This one is much calmer.
So the best thing to do is try both, (read my other review) and you decide. -

Dolce Amore is my new sweet love.
A few years ago, I spent a few weeks quite literally eating my way through some of Italy's best gelato. Returning to Vancouver, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Dolce Amore is as good, if not better than it's Italian cousins.
Dolce Amore serves traditional Italian style gelato and sorbets. Thus, it's a bit dresser and richer that ice cream and doesn't have the same mouthfeel as the creamier ice cream. It is also served at a warmer temperature, making it better suited to a cup than a cone.
Their selection is impeccably handcrafted by the Grippo family in small batched their impeccable gelato in small batches. By doing so, their selection remains limited to the classics and fresh, in season ingredients. While they have fun flavors like cookie dough and bubble gum, their classics, such as pistachio, tiramisu, nocciola and dolce amore and where they really shine
I'm reserving a star, as I have yet to try Bella Gelateria, which I've heard may be even better! -

I have this habit of latching onto desserts and then finding out who has the best version of it in the city, and come to a decision after trying many places.
Dolce Amore has the best dolce di latte (AKA dulce leche) gelato that I've come across in Vancouver. it is smooth in texture against your tongue, creamy on your palate, sweet, but not too sweet, with a hint of caramelization. It's done just right, and is a great homage to one of my favourite dessert toppings/spreads. They don't always have it in their rotation, unfortunately, so if you want that one in particular, it's a good idea to call ahead.
If it's a hot day and you're dying for a cold treat, though, do pay them a visit, as their other flavours are lovely. I had green apple gelato there once, it smelled like springtime, and was not too sweet, nor too sour. It was perfect, and the sorbettos are also amazing.
Their flavours always hit the bull's eye, and the quality make a lot of other places in vancouver look average. Dolce Amore scoops are well worth the money. Service is nothing to alert the troops about, but if I ever meet the person who crafts their desserts, they're getting a high-five and a hug!Listed in: Surefires, East Van, Yo!, Werewolf Time

This place has some of the best gelato in all of Vancouver! It tastes like the fruit that it's supposed to be AND it's soooo smooth and creamy. It almost puts Mondo Gelato http://www.yelp.ca/biz... to shame, even though that's pretty good too!
Stop here! They may not have as many flavours as La Casa Gelato (somewhat down the road--200 flavours), but they are definitely doing it the right way. The quality is amazing! You cannot go wrong! -

Ever been to Italy and eaten gelato while sitting on the plaza wondering how you were lucky enough to have the life that you do? Ok, so that last time that happened to me I was 17 and an au pair in Torino. But, luckily, I can recapture that feeling whenever I want by heading down to Dolce Amore.
This gelataria knows how to make a fine iced treat. Each flavour is hand crafted on the premise, in small batches, and tastes like Italy. The owner actually went to Italy to train as a gelato-master, and it really shows. The portions are not cheap, but they are certainly generous. Unlike some of the other gelaterias in Vancouver they focus on having a changing selection of about 30 flavours, but each one is perfectly crafted. If you are a pistachio fan it is a must-try, as is the limone sorbet and the blood orange sorbet. -

My friends and I went to this place when it was almost closing time, so we were only able to order 3 cups of Americano and their last dessert. It was the best recommendation from the server to order this DIVINE dessert. It was some kind of chocolate cake with toffee, gelato & caramel sauce. OMGosh, I nearly died when I took a bite because it was sooooooooo gooey, moist & delicious!!!!!!!!! We would've ordered 2 more because it was that decadent!!! Definitely need to return to try their dinner and order more of that dessert.
Americano & that dessert COMPLETES each other :) -

Delicious gelato :) I like the fact that there's a good selection of flavours instead of a huge, overwhelming number of choices.
I've been in here a couple of times, and the shop's always been clean. It's fun to sit at the seats by the window for half an hour and watch people go by. -

Know what makes the perfect summer day? A walk down Commercial for a raspberry and limone gelato, here. Perfection.

Wow. This gelato is absolutely fantastic. Every flavor they had looked delectable, but I decided on my standard Pistacchio. Oh my goodness it was good. It tasted like eating fresh pistachios. It was SOOOOOOO good. My sister got the S'mores flavor and she said it was fantastic aswell. I don't have much more to say about this place, just go here. You won't regret it.
