Phoenix, AZ
Hotel restaurants are usually mediocre, but I'm happy to report pleasant surprise after eating at Dohyo three times while staying at Yotel.
Everything we had here was tasty, and incredibly convenient since it was just downstairs. The service was decent, but nothing to tell your friends about: it seems like they were understaffed on the front-end. Also, the arrangement of the restaurant is confusing. The hosting station is well past the seating areas, over halfway through the restaurant. Also, if you don't know the restaurant is on the fourth floor it can be a bit hard to find. When you walk out of the elevator there is a bar on the left, a bar ahead and to the right, and then the restaurant is clear around the corner to your right. Yotel is fun, but slightly confusing.
As for food, we had at least four orders of the veggie sushi and what seemed to be a mountain of their fantastic seaweed salad. The only so-so item was the fried tofu, but even it was tasty. The best item was the key lime pie with thai basil. Yes, it sounds crazy, but it's crazy good. They make it upside down, with the meringue on bottom, filling in a ball in the middle, and a slice of graham cracker stuck into the ball. It was the best key lime pie since visiting Key West, and the Thai basil was a really nice touch.
Cocktails were good, but overpriced, just like all cocktails in NYC.
If you are staying in Yotel, going to a show, or in nearby Times Square, then it's a fun place to eat, especially if it's warm and the patio is open. -

Great place for dinner. The atmosphere is unlike any other place I have been with lots of purples and whites. Very trendy.
The food was very good, although pricy. The portions are small and they recomend you get 2-3 plates each.
I would definetly visit again. -
Review from Ron Y.
This place reminds me of the episode in Alias (S03E10) where Sydney and Will go to, posing at rock stars in the Gratz hotel.
The restaurant was difficult to find because it's IN the Yotel (that hotel on 42nd/10th)... and on the fourth floor. With the ultra hip, "futuristic", and trendy decor, I liked it but the food wasn't anything spectacular. All of our food that were supposed to be hot (pork buns, duck breast, and asparagus) came to us lukewarm and/or cold.
We ordered:
- crunchy shrimp: it was more soggy than crunchy. I liked the sauce though.
- shrimp ceviche: the best thing about this was the avocado sorbet.
- spicy tuna roll: probably the best item we ordered.
- grilled asparagus with fried poached egg: meh.
- seared duck breast: very chewy.
- pork belly buns: bland, the pork was hard/difficult to chew, and the buns were not warm.
We went at 6:30pm, which was still happy hour (5-7) but the happy hour prices were only at the bar. We thought for somewhere secluded from Times Square, and for an uneventful Wednesday evening, they would want the business and bend the rules for ordering happy hour wine at the tables... There really wasn't much service and the waitress was a little pushy and attitudinal at the beginning. She didn't make you feel very welcomed. (Actually, I got that from other people working at the hotel too.) Your menu is HUGE and it's full of print, give us some time or something! -

Had a brunch for a party of 12 here and we all LOVED the service, the food was pretty damn good also.
Thank you David, Robbie (waiters/servers) Ron (host), Dante (bartender) and Emma.
First let me say DAVID and ROBBIE where the best ever. Even while it was busy and he had half the whole Terrace they took care of us. Not to mention that we arrived very late and they still were nice enough to take care of us.
RON was the best host we had (he really did accommodate us even after we arrived really late).
EMMA, helped us put our 1st order in so that we get to eat since the kitchen was going to close soon.
DANTE (bartender), made a drink for my friend again, who spilled her Pomegranate Mojito after 2 sips. She loved it and was delicious.
The food:
It all depends on tates-bud but we loved the Rice, Shrimp, Eggs with Cheese, Bacon, Chickpeas, burgers and frozen margarita and the passion fruit pitchers.
Not a fan of: Eggs chilaquiles,
The negatives:
1) The menu has changed and Salmon is not longer on the menu. Small things but i was looking forward to that.
2) The pitchers of the drinks that we wanted and were the reason to go here, were not on the brunch menu anymore and instead are pricey at $48 each. The Passion fruit one.
3) The price is going to go up $40 per person, as oppose to $35 for all you can eat and drink in 2 hrs.

I just brunched here & it was fine. People should be aware of what they're getting into, it's more of a dance party than a brunch spot locale. It's good that it's all you can eat bc we needed to order everything on the menu before 2 decent dishes came out: the crunchy shrimp & bacon kimchee fried rice. They charged my debit card twice and it took a week to rectify it. The attitude I received on the phone over the situation far outweighs the fact that we had fun at the meal despite the less than decent food and watery drinks. Would be more excited about it if I hadn't had that experience but I did so it put a damper on the entire meal.

My mother and I split six tapas, two drinks, and a dessert, and everything was delicious! We really enjoyed the food--extremely unique and tasty.

The food was rather underwhelming to say the least. While the deal itself is good for the Brunch. The hostess was not very nice and soured my experience the moment I walked in. The french toast was definitely pretty good though and I personally enjoyed the meatballs which had a gingery taste to it. Which reminded me of the filling in a soup dumpling.
I've had better brunch...if it wasnt for all the alcohol we consumed, I would not have had so much fun with my friends...lol -

Want to go to a trendy cafeteria, that also feels like you are in Tokyo, with the most cool art --go here. This place feels like you are almost in a space ship. I would recommend going here for a drink or some apps.
Food: we had the tasting menu and I was surprisingly underwhelmed. Started with rice dumplings ? What the heck is this? yes just plain rice in dumpling paper, with some half ass sauce. Next we had some type of miso noodles (prob the best thing there). I'm not sure what else but all I know is that this place really needs to work on there tasting menu, b/c not one thing stood out. They really need to get some spices and flavor.
If you go here, do not go on a groupon or anything like that b/c what they serve you is not even close to anything on the menu. -

This place is great!
Ambiance: If you've ever flown Virgin America and enjoyed the cool hues or purple, green and light grey, this is the restaurant for you. Not only are the colors and "feel" of the place very Virgin-America-like, the seating and low lighting is also very similar. Look above for directional aides that are in geometric shapes! Also, follow your way from the entry waiting seating area to the back area (which tends to be communal seating on long, sleek benches), and you'll find that you're in a restaurant that is unique in more ways than not. Also, everyone here was so beautiful (we came around Fashion Week and I was told that there would be a fashion show going on later in the day, so this was GREAT for people watching).
Service: The waitress that helped us was very nice. We decided to do the prix-fix menu selection for $35 -- all you can eat and drink for two hours. The menu for brunch has roughly 24-25 items, not including drink, and there were four of us -- so we ordered 2 each starting from the left side of the menu going downward. Our waitress recommended this process and said it would be easiest for her! It turned out great; she brought us the first eight items and our first round of drinks, and then before we were anywhere close to being finished, she brought the next eight, and so on and so forth. The only downside was that these drinks had to be individually made (rather than poured from a pitcher a la Lime, San Francisco). Thus, we had to wait for a bit to get our refills. I have a tip on streamlining a fix to this problem below.
Food: TOP NOTCH! ZOMG! The food here was sooooo good. Do what we did and have everyone in the party do the prix-fix. Then you can just order everything. How often can you say that you've tried every single thing on the menu? More importantly, how often can you say that you enjoyed everything? My personal favorites: The wontons, the cauliflower, the seared tuna, and the halibut sliders. YUMMERS.
TIP: Yelp currently has a deal. Go with four people and your 4th person gets their $35 prix-fix meal for free. DO IT.
TIP: Everyone should order the same drink -- if you do, they may bend the rules and give you a carafe of the drink instead of spending the time to make you individual ones. This might help ensure that you get your money's worth.
TIP: if you go with a group of six or more, they may provide you with platters rather than individual plates. You'll also be provided with pitchers for your table. Ask about this.
TIP: A link to the brunch menus: http://www.richardsand...
I'm rating this place a 4 out of 5, only because we had to ask for refills on our drinks -- at a place like this, pitchers of continuously made libations that are kept in the possession of the waiter or waitress would help things flow more quickly. Since the price for groups of six and groups of six or less is the same (still $35), this makes sense to me. -

Went for Sunday brunch at 11am a couple of weeks ago. Was running late, but they held our reservation and seated us without difficulty, which was nice. Service was slow at best - repeated asks for coffee and water before we got them. Initial tapas plates served lukewarm to refrigerator cold - almost certainly Saturday brunch's leftovers. Replacements had the same issue. Waitress told us that the manager was "taking care of it" but no adjustment to the check. After that, the food brought didn't necessarily match what was ordered, but not worth making a fuss about when it's all you can eat. When served at the right temperature, food was good and drinks were well made.

Really enjoyed my brunch there yesterday!
Eat YO! Brunch is a great concept at $35 for all you can drink & eat for 2 hours, plus a cool crowd & great music - it is a great way to spend a lazy Sunday!
I've been brunching in NYC for over 10 years now (oy!) and I have to say, that this was truly a unique experience. It felt like I was part of a scene that was happening / building - hard to explain, but it just felt alive with energy. Almost like a modern studio 54 perhaps?
Also, worth noting, the staff and the hosts of the "brunch event" were all very nice and accommodating - not attitudes here!
The food was tasty - all small plates - and tons of options many with a slight asian flair. My faves: the chicken salad, crunchy shrimp & the pineapple french toast. The yogurt parfait and burgers looked good, but I was too stuffed. I also really enjoyed the peach bourbon iced tea & the sake sangria.
Really fun time, would be great for a birthday or to bring friends that are visiting for a special experience. I would put this down as a TO-DO for all New Yorkers.
I'll definitely be back to try dinner. -

F.Y.I: Dohyo Restaurant & Bar was absolutely PHENOMENAL!!!! The ambiance of the restaurant is classy and modern while still preserving the traditional Japanese style of seating. The tables rise and sink making it easy to transform a restaurant into great place to sip on a cocktail and dance the night away!
When we arrived to Yotel, we honestly weren't planning on eating and just wanted to grab a few cocktails with some friends. Chef Nick recommended some dishes and we were definitely blown away!
Our dinner consisted of:
1. CRISPY CHICKEN WINGS (garlic/teriyaki/sambal)
2. STIR FRIED PORK BELLY RAMEN NOODLES (bok choy mushroom/poached egg)
3. LAMB STEAMED BUNS (pickled cucumber/yogurt)
4. WAGYU BEEF BRISKET (russet potato puree / achiote trufe sauce)
5. GRILLED PORK SPARE RIBS (hoisin plum sauce/sesame seed
And for dessert...where do I even begin:
1. CHOCOLATE CHEESECAKE (chipotle/blackberry/chocolate lace)
2. And a special recommendations from the Chef Key Lime Pie & Carrot Cake
My favs hands down were the Wagyu Beef Brisket, Stir Fried Pork Belly Ramen Noddles, Crispy Chicken Wings, and the Carrot Cake.
Although the portions were small, the quality and flavor of the food was definitely worth every penny! The service was exceptional and the bartender was very friendly & attentive...she was on point and keep the drinks coming :) Words truly cannot describe the exceptional customer service and food served at Dohyo! So treat your taste buds to a night that they'll never forget!!!! Sayonara Yelpers.... -

Review from David B.
I stopped in here recently more to see the place than to have the food, but I'm quite happy that I had a bite.
Decor: Hip, Funky, Purple&Green (my favorite colors) and very new. There are a number of spaces to eat in from tables that feel as if you are eating around a sunken floor(?) to small nooks with comfortable couches. Much attention is paid to the presentation of the food and it goes a long way.
Service: I didn't really notice, so I guess it was neutral
Food: The spicy tuna sushi was supurb. You'll find tapas and a few larger plates. I'd assume that the menu changes fairly regularly. My main dish was comprised of Halibut "sliders" with a side of seasoned fries. I'd order this again in a heartbeat, though I could honestly do without the bland brioche bun that seems to be all the rage these days.
Drinks: Fancy hotel cocktail bar, what do you expect?
Value: It's on the pricey side, but you are paying partly for the ambiance.
I look forward to visit again. -

THEIR LAST HEALTH INSPECTION GRADE WAS A 'C' ...
This was my second trip to the Yotel for their Sunday brunch, but after this experience I won't ever go back.
My friend and I both experienced horrific food poisoning. Mine hit before the brunch was even over. I can't be entirely sure what did it, but the Bloody Mary tasted very off, the meatballs were a bit odd and the bacon didn't quite sit right.
I did a bit more research and found out that their health inspection grade is pending, after they received a 'C' rating. I lost a day of work due to this place AND they triple charged one in our party.
Frankly, I think this place should close itself down and fix the problems before subjecting others to 14 hours of vomiting and diarrhea. Thanks, Four at the Yotel.

First we were one three couples in the restaurant along with on bring group. The service was terrible slow. I hate when a place is empty and the service is still slow. It took about 5 to 10 minutes before our waiter even came to ask us for our drinks
After another 5 to minutes for our water and ice tea to come we placed our order
We were hunger and everything was sounding great, but sometimes the sound of something won't translate into tasting the same
We were in a steamed bun mood, but everything tried a pork buns at two our places (Ugly Kitchen and momofuku noodle bar) these didn't stand a chance.
Fried tofu had a a crisp outside, but the inside still felt like it was under-cooked and was gooey
The beef tenderloin was the only highlight of the meal and that was ok
to drink we ordered ASIAN MICHELADA which was bad, we would have ordered another drink but the waiter took a long time to get back to us
I think the only reason why i'm giving this a two stars and not one is because i think the place was having an off night with service. We stayed at the hotel for a week and only ate here once. -
Review from Wing L.
Conceptually, the design and idea of a latin Japanese fusion restaurant works. Situated in a hotel called yotel, the atmosphere is clearly "futuristic" ( a robot that supposedly checks in your luggage). It's all for show but that screams "Easy breezy Japanes-y" to me"
Pass the hotel up the 4th floor, you will find Dohyo. Initially, I felt like I was in some Jetson's diner in outer space. The way the seats were set up and the colors and designs screamed a futuristic dining experience. But past that was the traditional seatings where you "sit" on the floor but with a more comfortable twist. I'm all for recreating Japanese culture and sitting cross legged on the floor but as I get older, my foot tends to fall asleep more often than I want it to. Not only is it painful and annoying, but I have to keep shuffling left and right so my foot doesn't fall asleep.
Luckily, the concept is there but the execution is genius. instead, it's as if you're sitting on a regular chair but your legs are dangling in mid air. From an outside perspective, you DO look like you're sitting on the floor. Now that's cool.
I was more impressed with the decor and atmosphere than the food and service itself. Service was quite slow and I had to raise my hands a few times. You know how back in the days when you had to go to the bathroom and you just raised your hands eagerly so the teacher can notice you but doesn't? That's how I felt; the waiters were not as attentive and were really slow. My water was filled maybe 2 times during the hour and half?
Food is tapas style so sharing is a must. We wanted more of a light meal so we ordered about 5 tapas to try.
The Wagyu beef was tender and the mashed potatoes was a good compliment to the dish. The halibut sliders was "ok" in my opinion. It was messy and the halibut didn't have much of a flavor. You know how sliders in general use beef and you're expecting a juicy mini burger? The halibut was quite the antithesis- it was a bit dry and having 4 people cut up a sandwich was messy.
Our group was on a consensus with the pork belly ramen noodles. Ok obviously, you can't go wrong with that combination. Pork belly? Yum. Ramen noodles, uh yea! We enjoyed it so much we ordered 2. It was possible that because it was carbs as well, it will fill us up quicker too (which was our goal).
Prince Edward Island mussels were pretty good, especially with the coconut broth. The Colorado lamb leg was my least favorite dish. It was just too gamey for my tastes.
In general, ambiance is there and pretty nifty and it's located near all the broadways so it's a good to dine here if you're in the area. -

DohYO is alternative with a very artistic feel. Came for a pre-show dinner with a few friends. We didn't want to sit on the japanese style floor seating upon getting there, but def considered it for a sunday brunch with a large group of people as it could be a lot of fun. The tapas style menu was great with a large selection. Food was yummy, service and drinks a little slow, but all in all a good experience. I wouldn't consider this place a foodie haven as the tapas were not very memorable (besides the carrot cake desert), but nonetheless you can tell they are pushing the creativity level as best they can. The place was a bit empty considering it was a Saturday night, but it has a lot of potential to be buzzing. A little hard to find - go into the Yotel and up to the 4th floor, but the rooftop area is worth coming to. Unforunately the weather was brisk when we were there, but would love to check this out for a summer brunch.

Perhaps the most fun one can have at Sunday brunch! DohYo did not disappoint! I wanted a Sunday brunch setting that offered great people-watching, delicious food, free-flowing drinks, and a reasonable price. DohYo delivered on all counts.
We arrived about 11:45 for our noon reservation, and were seated right away. However, it wasn't until noon before a server came and took our orders. A couple minute wait is one thing, but 15 munites was rather unacceptable. However, the experience after that more than made up for it.
For $35, you have 2 hours to enjoy unlimited small plates (think tapas) and delicious bevereages. We were a table of 2, and started with drinks, and 4 different small plates. We did about 4 or 5 rounds, ordering 3 or 4 plates each time. We left very satisfied, and with a nice Sunday buzz :)
We tried almost everything on the menu, and really weren't disappointed with anything (the meatballs, while not loved by me, were truly enjoyed by my partner). Highlights include the crunchy shrimp, bacon fried rice, french toast (with a delicious pinapple flavor), falafel lettuce wraps and spicy tuna rolls (tuna was just seared, giving it a really wonderful flavor). The drinks were excellent as well, with the bacon bloody mary and bourbon peach being favorites of the table.
The atmosphere was fantastic as well. Great "futuristic" decor, and a DJ who played a great mix of 80s, some disco, and some current hits as well. It really made for a fun, enjoyable time. And we were seated adjacent to the entry hall, which made for a pretty entertaining catwalk-type show :)
This is a place to which I will absolutely return. And were it not for such a long wait in the beginning (and the ocassional lag between orders), I could easily rate DohYo's Sunday brunch a 5. -

First off the brunch deal was a steal for 35 bucks unlimited drinks and food. However, it got 3 stars cause of a few quirks they need to work out. Although very friendly the staff is overwhelmed and hard to find when needed, the food is good, not great but having to make in mass quantity it wasn't bad. The drinks were tasty, sampled a few and recommend the mango mimosa. I went on a Saturday and heard that Sunday's are a madhouse so think before you book. Decor was attractive and modern, it would be nice to dine al fresco but it was too cold. I'd recommend waiting a few months till they get the kinks worked out in order to enjoy a relaxing dining experience, but of course who know if the $35 deal will last!

Got a deal through Gilt City and tried out the place. Atmosphere was pretty cool as they have interesting japanese wall paper and decor. Otherwise, the food was horrendous for such an upscale place. It might have been that I was ordering from a prix-fixe menu, but my chicken thigh wasn't fully cooked and bleeding while I was completely underwhelmed by the rice dumplings (as an asian guy who eats chinese/japanese food everyday, I've never encountered such a thing as rice dumplings in my life, and hope I don't have to again).

Went here for dinner on a Wednesday night.
Food: Had the 4-course pre-fixe. Good, but nothing extraordinary. Rice dumplings were a miss. Noodles in lemongrass broth was the highlight. Overall everything had very safe flavors.
Service: Great. Waiter was attentive.
Setting: Modern, unique wall art. Tables meant for two people were on the large side. Felt like a cafeteria. The floor seating looked like it would be more intimate.
Conclusion: Good place for drinks and a tapa or two. Can do better if looking for a nice dinner. -

Earlier we were told the big menu ends at 11pm, & the small menu ends at 12. So when we got there @10:45, I figured we could still order something quickly but the hostess insisted on the small menu and said kitchen is closing. This other guy came by & moved us to a more private booth and spoke to his manager so we could order from the big menu til 11. He asked if we were staying at the hotel & how long we were staying for. I guess he thought we were tourists, so he felt bad we wouldn't be able to eat from the restaurant. He was so nice, Thank youuuu.
I was craving the salmon. It was yummy. The falafel salad was delicious, but my fiance didn't know it would just be 2 tiny pieces for $6. At least give us 3 pieces like how they do it at dim sum lol. Eell it was delicious and The service was great.
The free breakfast for overnight guests was only coffee and muffins. I thought there wouldn be eggs or cereal. So I pigged out on the chocolate muffins. Mmmm -

Felt like it was trying to out hip the hipsters. Also in all honesty, the interior design reminded me of a cruise ship. The service was a bit attitudinal which was not very welcoming however I looked past this concern once the food arrived quite quickly. I ordered the halibut sliders (arrived as a pair) which was flavorful and original. Fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. The bun was sweet and tasty. I also ordered the tuna ceviche which would be called tuna poke in most parts of the western US. The tuna was cubed and extremely fresh - this definitely became my favorite dish at this location. Was not a fan of yet another restaurant that pairs fish with bacon - a definite no go for me. I wound up leaving hungry. The biggest disappointment was the beverages - I ordered two alcoholic drinks - both were not very good - Sangria and margarita.

Dohyo means sumo wrestling stage but the restaurant was more like a cafeteria with big open space with bright florescent lighting.
Not so imaginative sake sangria made me worried a bit about the food to be served but it turned out to be delicious. The menu is a combination of Asian and South American as you would expect from Richard Sandoval. I enjoyed pork and foire gras dumpling, hamachi tiraditos, halibut sliders, and yukon fries.
Not so great were pork belly buns and desserts. The pork belly buns do not at all compare to those at Momofuku's and should be taken out of the menu or need significant improvement. Also desserts seemed after thoughts and quite disappointing. -

What a surprise! From the moment the four of us walked in for a pre-theater dinner, I was like, Wow! I knew we stumbled upon something unique. I know I will be coming back here many times! I loved practically everything about this place: convenient location, how spacious it is, how delicious the food is and how beautifully it is presented. The decor is very stimulating as well. The theme of the wall art has to do with the ring in which sumo wrestling rounds are held, which is called Dohyō. I will definitely try their Sunday brunch next. I need more time to enjoy that decor for sure. The tenderloin was heavenly! Tender, juicy, and just enough. All the tapas we tried were competing for the best title. My suggestion is to skip the familiar tapas like crab dumplings, and spend your wealth on the delicacies.

If we knew that this dining establishment located inside our hotel was this great, we'd definitely dine here more than once!
Unfortunately we decided to try it on our last night here. The decor, ambiance, music, even the banquet style tables were more than nice! On a good day you can even chose to dine outside on the 4th floor terrace!!
LOVES THIS PLACE! The food and service was ALL ON POINT!
Will be back again....hopefully sooner rather than later. -

Atmosphere was really cute, the wait staff was a bit young and not that knowledgeable, still very friendly. The food was good, but you need to order a lot of it. For just two people we ordered about 10 plates and we were still were hungry at the end of the meal. The portions are just way too small. I would go back to enjoy the terrace although it's a bit bridge and tunnel :-( not sleek or sexy like the Press Roof lounge on 11th Ave.

The big city lights no longer stop at eighth avenue now that there's the neon illuminated Yotel hotel on w42nd that boasts beautiful terraces with sweeping views, laid back lounges for group gatherings and a brand new restaurant called DohYO that serves up great fusion and fun.
More than just an affordable place to rest your head after touring the Met and hitting up The Lion King, Yotel has created an entire floor 'FOUR' with a mission to provide just as much of a destination as the city itself. At the heart of FOUR and surrounded by a well-manicured terrace, the eatery DohYO serves up the hands-down most excellent margaritas you will find on the west side, pairing them up with sweet and spicy, Latin-Asian fused fare that comes in sharable, tapas sized portions.
Skip the regular seating and plop down at the long communal tables in the middle of the restaurant. Modeled after traditional Japanese dining, this section adds a fun twist by letting your legs dangle in recesses under the table-a great experience for kids and adults that like some fun with their dining. As for food, delicious sushi options abound, but definitely go straight for the Chile Dusted Tuna Salad for you fish fix, and to kick start your meal. After that, take your picks from an extensive list of sharable meat, seafood, noodle and vegetable plates. Be sure not to miss the tender Halibut Sliders ($9), Crunchy Shrimp ($8) or Wok Fried Okra ($5) and wash them all down with multiple Mango Margaritas($13).
Service is super fast, so order your favorites and then feel free to digest and get adventurous for round two. After midnight on the weekends, the communal tables lower to reveal an impromptu performance space. -

This review is for Saturday brunch. I heard this spot gets super crazy on Sunday but Saturday was definitely not the case. It was quite dead. We made reservations for 4 people at 12:45 PM but a reservation was totally unnecessary. The deal is $35 all you can eat and drink for 2 hours. Disappointment! I guess you can't really expect much from a deal like this. However, the food just wasn't very good. I think we literally picked at each of the dishes that we ordered and then put them aside. The drinks were good but it definitely had more juice than alcohol. Last but not least, our service was terrible and this spot was DEAD. Our waitress would always forget to bring us drinks after we had ordered them. Finally she just left us a pitcher so that she wouldn't have to come back to us. If you check in on yelp, it is buy 4 get 1 free but to be honest you're in New York City. Try something that's more worthwhile! I don't know how this spot ever received 4 stars to begin with!

We at the hotel yotel!! My sister just moved to Manhatten and lives across the street from Hotel Yotel. We came here for dinner one night and it was amazing. Everything we ordered was just as delicious as the previous dish. Then we found out they do brunch - $35 all you can eat and drink on Sundays. So when Sunday rolled around, we showed up to the best party in the city. There was a dj spinning, a MC providing hilarious entertainment and a slew of gorgeously dressed folks doing runway walks around the place. We ate and drank our faces off and had more fun that we have had in a long time at brunch. Next time I visit, I will be rocking a very fierce outfit to hit this hotspot and the catwalk will be calling my name.

Made a reservation on http://OpenTable.com and also called the restaurant to reconfirm. When I got to Dohyo, I was impressed with the space - it all ended there.
We were there for dinner, and the host first sat us at these two white rocking chairs, and there was a small cocktail table next to the chairs (not an ideal place to eat dinner). I told her that we wanted full-dinner, and asked if we could please be seated at a table and she said, "it'll be fine here." After a few minutes of sitting there, I heard the host talking to a gentleman seated at a table nearby, and the host was saying she was, "so sorry!" I then heard the man say that he had been waiting more than 20 minutes for a server to come over and greet him. Now, be aware that this table was the closest table to the host podium, and I would think one of the two or three managers and/or the host on duty last night would have noticed that sooner.
The gentleman was pissed and left the restaurant. The host then came over to our table and told us that she had a table that just opened up.
We sat at the table and five minutes passed, then 10. The host noticed that we still had our menus and that no one had come by and said that she would get us a server. 15 minutes later, still no one had come by. I had enough.
We got up and had a drink by the bar while we made a new http://OpenTable.com reservation at Five Napkin Burger.
My tips for Dohyo:
1. Hire managers that give a shit.
2. Two servers to cover I don't know, 40 tables. Never gonna work.
3. Do your bartenders have ANY experience? NYC experience matters - not just a cute face/body.
You are going to be insanely busy this summer. Get it together... fast. -

We had a very enjoyable pre-theater meal here. It was a bit tough to find - fourth floor of the Yotel and no street or lobby signs to direct you. The atmosphere is a bit too trendy for me - floor/tatami style seating in the center of the room and then more traditional seating around the perimeter. Tables are generously sized and spaced - unusual for midtown and nice to have.
Now for the menu and food... For once, a menu's promise lived up to the food actually served. Both my husband and I were starved so we ordered several items. Highlights: black cod, seaweed salad, ribs. So-so: beef sliders (which were as good as they could be just not so special - maybe the halibut sliders are better), duck steamed buns - a bit dry, tuna salad - meh. Desserts and cocktail were average. Service was very pleasant, nicely paced and surprisingly without 'attitude' (something you might expect in a place with this type of presentation).
I love a tapas style menu with so many taste options, so this place was perfect for us. We'll be back. -

The food was very good. The best was the Halibut Sliders by far. Overall the this restaurant was very nice. We were given a choice to either be seated inside or outside on the terrace. Considering it was a very nice clear and sunny day we chose to sit outside on the terrace.
Overall the hostess was nice as was our waitress at the time. The other staff didn't seem so nice as they brought our food out and almost threw it onto our table. They weren't wearing the usual attire as the hostess or the waitress. If we were to judge this establishment solely on the price for the entire meal then that particular method of service would be completely unacceptable. However since we didn't pay full price for the meal then I would excuse it as a bad day for them. The price range of this restaurant is well within the range of numerous others in the NYC area that will offer much better service. The service was also a bit spotty for the price of the restaurant but that shouldn't stop people from coming and enjoying their food. It's a relatively large space to serve so it's understandable.
I would come back to this restaurant to enjoy their wonderful Halibut Sliders. Don't get me wrong everything else was great but the Halibut Sliders stood out for my tastes. It's a wonderful experience and seems like a nice party/modern atmosphere to enjoy among friends. Definitely geared towards the younger crowd but still can be enjoyed by people that are willing to try new things. -

Awesome place. Very trendy, with outdoor and indoor space. Indoor you can sit on the floor Japanese style, but with feet dangling below you, so no need for Indian style. Food was absolutely delicious. Had at least 8 dishes and loved them all. Best of all, the porters stood in the pouring rain to get us a cab. Will return for sure!!

review for BRUNCH @ FOUR =)
(didn't want to leave the review with the hotel)
One of the best brunch places ever! So a group of us girls (6 to be exact) came to partake in the 2hr time limit with unlimited small plates and unlimited pitchers. It was our first time there and we had an amazing waiter! A friend commented he looked like Jay from America's Next Top Model. She was right. He was so adorable and had the cutest smile. Fell in love with him!
He found out we were first-timers so he took it upon himself to order food for us. So the way brunch works is we can order 3 plates of food per table at a time. Once 3 plates arrive our waiter would order another 3 plates for us. We pretty much tried the entire menu.
bacon fried rice - one of the best dishes from the place. just enough kimchi and was super delicious. (however our 2nd plate of this was a bit on the salty side)
cheese omelette - meh we had ordered the chorizo and got the wrong one. it was alright
french toast - one of the best french toast ive ever had. the pineapple was so sweet and the syrup was really good. eat it while its hot!!
the chicken salad - not too bad, the chicken was shredded so you couldnt tell it was chicken. the dressing was sweet. the salad sort of cleansed the palate which was nice.
sushi roll - we had some spicy tuna roll and vegetable roll. you can pass on those. it was okay.
beef burger - the meat was overdone slightly. the buns are realllllly hard. but it the presentation was very cute!
crunchy shrimp - one of the other best dishes of the house. we ended up ordering maybe 3 plates of these (but our last plate had the smallest shrimps ever!) it was fried shrimp with some lemon sake aioli on top of masago (spicy mayo ftw!)
falafel lettuce wrapp - this was really good. the lettuce made it really refreshing and sort of clean (although eating these things were a little messy)
halibut sliders - by the time this dish came i was too full to even enjoy. lol but it had the same bun as the beef burger so i opted to not try it. the buns are almost twice as big as the fish and super dry.
house ground meatballs - our very last dish. also the most disappointing. the meatballs were sort of dry and crumbling. also felt as though they were frozen beforehand. if you go do not order them.
LASTLY! our drinks! we had sake sangria, passion plantation punch, lychee bellini and mango mimosa. The passion plantation punch was a lot stronger than I had anticipated. 1 glass of that equaled to maybe 2 glasses of the bellinis. The sake sangria was also very strong. It did not have a lot of wine in it. More sake definitely. The lychee and mango were both light and tasted really good. It seemed really light but by the time we had our 4th glasses we were really feeling it.
Unfortunately we couldn't sit on the terrace because of the weather but next time we go we will definitely try to aim there. A good place for drunken brunch escapades!
happy eatings~ -

Fantastic value offered for prix fix brunch at $35/pp. Particularly recommended for groups who are not hung up on New Year's resolutions of slimming down. Lychee bellini, bacon fried rice (gasp), crunchy shrimp (double gasp) and wok-seared cauliflower were standouts. Less impressive were the sushi roll offerings (flavorless rice and loose sushi rolling, which is a personal pet peeve of mine) and the sliders (the buns seemed stale, detracting from the perfectly flavorful meat).
While service was average, food/drinks consumed and the resultant glow one experiences make it mighty difficult to argue with the return on dollars spent.
