I'll start off with all of the great things about Dog People Dog Daycare. It's open early (6:30 a.m.), close to downtown (just off Blackfoot and 42nd), and you get your first visit for free. The staff are very accommodating (will feed your pup if you bring food) and they're very friendly. The staff take the time to talk about anything you need, and post pictures of your pups on FB.
Now to the negatives (which I know are partly daycares in general)....I have a 5 month old puppy, and she has had all of her shots and vaccinations. I know she can get sick easily since she's not fully grown, but she has been sick since attending daycare (3 weeks). First she had the sniffles, then yellow snot, then throwing up, and now kennel cough. This has turned into 2 vet visits at $120/pop. What we thought would be a great alternative to having our puppy socialized and burn energy has turned into an expensive, and disheartening experience. Our poor puppy has been sick for weeks, and is just now on the mend.
This daycare has packages of 5 or 10 visits, which MUST be used within a month. I wish they didn't have a set expiry, and could just be bought in packages to be used whenever.
So the negatives of this half and half review can't be placed entirely on the daycare, however, I was hoping for a happy and healthy puppy as the outcome of sending to daycare, not a sad and sick puppy :(
I'll keep my puppy at daycare because it's our only option when we are at work, and will continue going here since I think the atmosphere is great, and the dogs are in good care.
