Popped in here today as it was close to where we ate and I've had it bookmarked to check out for a while now.

All I wanted to know is if they have my favorite magazine that most places do not carry, and YES, they had it. Perfect.

My one monthly magazine pleasure is Wired. I like buying it from them v. Chapters. There are so many other titles to browse as well.

I xoxo Does your Mother Know! It's the perfect place to get lost in after grabbing a coffee and escaping for a spell.

My only wish is that they had some sections named. When I'm just perusing, it's great to get lost, but when I've got 6 minutes on the meter and I just need to grab something quickly, I would love a no think map: "food and wine," "entertainment," "automotive" (I just threw that one in for the boys, I've never read a magazine from that section)

But a definite must while shopping on 4th!

I had to giggle that this store name is already in use in San Francisco in the Castro as a "tacky porn and lube store" (that used to be a decent gay greeting card shop.) LoL.

But seriously, THIS Vancouver shop is quite different. This is a very serious store. Seriously filled with tons of mags!

I love the name of this place! The selection of magazines is pretty overwhelming.  There are a ton of magazines available I didn't know where to start.  Can see this as a good place to pick up unusual magazines or gifts.  I found it a bit difficult to find, but otherwise cool place.

Does my mother know what? That I can easily spend $30 here in 30 minutes? That they are one of the few stores to carry Burda magazine with its ready to cut-out patterns? That the staff are usually too engrossed in a title to see you at the cash counter?

Probably not. And don't go telling on me either.

I love this place for one reason: gifts. I don't know about you but when I'm painted into a corner gift-wise I always turn to the 'weird magazine' side of things.

This place is made for that. I'm not a huge magazine lover, but I like to think I know most of the big titles, yet here seems to be mostly comprised of magazines I've never heard or dreamed of.

Worth a warning though, don't bring too much money or you're likely to find about 100 magazines that interest you and break the bank. With a selection like this, you can't go away empty handed and are always on the verge of buying up half the place.

The slightly creepy store name is inconsequential in this large collection of both domestic and foreign magazines. If I'm ever looking for something obscure of the print journalism variety, this store likely carries it, and the staff have always been exceedingly helpful and willing to inquire into ordering something if it is not available in-store.

There aren't many magazine stores in Vancouver but this one really takes the cake. Its racks are filled with titles from around the world - Italy, Australia, England, France, you name it, it's probably here.

As a writer I buy a ridiculous amount of magazines every month, so finding Does Your Mother Know was a moment of incredible happiness for me (and needless to say it opened up a rather large Pandora's box). There are fashion mags, interior design mags, crafty mags, foodie mags, trashy mags, gardening mags, hobby mags, car mags, and everything in between. Be still my beating heart!

There's also a post office at the back of the store and some yummy munchies (lollies and chips) that you can buy to enjoy whilst perusing your favourite publication.

When an American friend (a French teacher) visited the city and wanted to take back some french magazines for her students, I knew just where to take her. Does Your Mother Know did not disappoint.

She actually had such a great selection of French-language magazines to choose from that her biggest problem was narrowing down the choices. She ended up with some fashion-focused magazines and some soccer mags.

Anyone looking for a magazine in another language should know about this store. And, of course, hobbyists, fashionistas, and pretty much any topic you're into you'll be able to find a specialty magazine to suit your taste.

Wow, what an amazing find! The store offers a ton of magazines on any topic you could imagine, from both local and international publishers. I got lost in the sea of magazines, and was tempted to buy anything and everything in sight. Definitely allow some time when you browse, and go with an open mind; you might walk out with an array of magazines on subjects you never thought you were interested in.

This is the perfect place to sit and wile away the hours... until someone kicks you out, that is. Not that that has happened to me yet, but I do take advantage of their tremendous selection of art journals and foreign fashion magazines.

Having just back to Vancouver, I've tried to monitor my expenditure and that, sadly, limits the number of magazines I can purchase. Every attempt to wean my magazine addiction in the past has failed miserably. I usually end up going cold turkey then giving in at the end of the month, right before next month's editions hit the shelves. I've even spent money to ship back my collection to Vancouver after my stint overseas came to an end.

Anyway, Does Your Mother Know is the ideal spot to give in to sweet publishing temptation.

Oh how excited I was to find this replica of a magazine shop that I used to frequent in my hometown!  Does Your Mother Know The Magazine Store is a treasure chest of international magazines and newspapers with a tremendous variety of glossies in categories you didn't know existed.  There are magazines nowadays for everything!  Not just crafts magazines, but craft magazines for every season, political mags on every end of the spectrum, fashion 'zines in all languages, celebrity trash talking ALSO in every language...that's right folks, NA's aren't the only ones who like to build them up and watch them fall.  Along with these, there are hobby reads, fishing, collecting, sports, photography, marijuana and everything in between.  The gentleman working the counter is wise to all sorts of publications and is more than willing to help you if you shouldn't find something you are looking for.

It looks like Luisa S. and I should start a support group for magazine addiction...but with stores like Does Your Mother Know, why would I want to stop?!

In the east coast magazine shops are pretty common. I haven't seen as many in Vancouver, but this one is a pretty good example of a good magazine shop with a broad selection. I like the fact that they have all sort of newspapers outside the shop and magazines hanging over the front window. My personal favourite, magazines in other languages. Especially gossip magazines in spanish!!

This is my favourite little magazine and newspaper shop in Vancouver. Besides having a quirky name, Does Your Mother Know on West 4th Avenue carries hundreds and hundreds of glossies and other magazine- and paper-style publications.

Be warned: This is the kind of store you can spend hours upon hours in, so come with time to peruse the large selection of digest titles, some well-known, many off-the-wall and unheard of.

I always stop by here after eating at Connie's Cook House. Great and diverse selection of design magazines, art and photo mags, fashion mags....on and on. It's a small and friendly place with a pretty interesting selection of birthday and greeting cards, too. My only problem I have is limiting how many magazines I allow myself to buy at one time.

If you are as promiscuous a reader of newspapers and magazines as I am, you'll love this magazine store.  They carry just about everything, and I do mean everything from news to art to politics to Italian Vogue.  So, when you need your fix of good writing, you should come here for your Sunday New York Times or to browse the latest Harper's Index or the selection of newspapers from abroad.  If they don't have what you're looking for, they might be able to try to find it for you.  And, it's nice to support the local guy instead of the big box, (you know which one I mean!).
