I haven't given out 5 stars in a while, but DVG really deserves it.
One of the artists (jewelry) was running the store, Laurie Parish. She was so nice and really helpful with telling me all the info I wanted to know about each of the pieces that caught my eye, and almost everything in there catches my eye. Her jewelry was so beautiful that I couldn't help but get a pair to adorn my gals lovely lobes.
The seatbelt bags (mentioned below by Tara T.) are feckin' awesome. Made of old GM seatbelts with an authentic Cadillac seatbelt buckle? Backpack sold!
Locally made with a big slant towards sustainability gets big votes from me, too.
The 7-day test drive and layaway programs for art wooed me as well, and as far as fine art goes, the prices aren't bad at all. Only a couple of pieces in the gallery reach into the 4-figure range.
As soon as the budget allows, I'll be back for more of the Doctor :) -

Don't be fooled by the name like I was. I thought that it was a health food store or clinic. I didn't notice the word "Gallary" at first. They may want a name change to suit the establishment to gain more traffic.
The gallery itself has something for everyone, great DIY products in the best part of the city Commericial Drive.
Friendly store owners and a nice arrangement that makes the store inviting to visit.
Most of the art is local, a great place to support local artists and for finding that unique gift. -

God, I love this place, the space itself is brightly light, airy and nicely laid out- perfect for browsng.They have a wide selection of artistic pieces in various mediums, the black metal 'flame' stools were near the window, on my last visit. They stock a good selection from my favorite local artist, June Hunter- I love her pendants....I never tire of this store, and they have some reasonably priced items like pendants and hand made cards. Definately worth a look !

This shop stocks some of the most gorgeous artwork I have seen in a long time. That's not saying a hell of a lot as I don't often go to art galleries, but I'm sure you'd agree the printed wall tiles are very beautiful and evoke feelings of the Mediterranean. Unfortunately the tiles were too expensive for me to buy (I forget the price but I think they were in the hundreds).
Artwork from both local and international artisans is displayed in this store and as well as the paintings that adorn the walls, there are also sculptures, accessories, and jewellery.
They also had some very unique bags that were made out of old car seatbelts as well as a table made entirely from recycled material. Not only does Doctor Vigari Gallery sell good-looking art, but environmentally friendly too -

Doctor Vigari Gallery features all kinds of art by artists from BC and across Canada. You'll find photography, paintings, sculptures, jewelery, furniture, and pottery. If you are nervous about purchasing a piece, feel rest assured in that you have 7 days to "test drive" it.
