Review from Lisa N.

After reading the Olympia pizzaria reviews my fellow Yelpers posted my daughter and I decided to try Doby's - we were not disappointed. Hole in the wall of a strip mall is a correct description of its location; the locations ads to its appeal - off the beaten path and quiet.
It is a small shop, and my first thought was that it was a take home pizzaria - it is, but they offer five tables with four or five chairs per table. Simple, but elegant in decor.
We ordered the Deluxe as our first pizza and the cheesy breadsticks. The cheese sticks are a pizza crust covered generously with pizza cheese, baked and served sliced in strips with chilled pizza sauce. The cheese bread was amazingly tasty. The pizza was a perfect balace of veggies/meat and cheese. There was some grease pooling beneath the crust, but have never attempted a fresh pepperoni and cheese filled pizza where there weren't at least a little oily residual.
The veggies were fresh and the meat had great flavor. The pizza sauce was a nice blend of spices and herbs that complimented the other ingredients. Doby's offers three different flavor crust and we chose the italian herb.
One other couple were present during our visit this sunny sunday afternoon... a perfectly big window front allows the late day sun to naturally light the shop.
My daughter and I gave Doby's four thumbs up and agreed we would visit again.
They don't offer pasta, but they do have a nice selection of salads, sandwiches and pizza. -

Excellent pizza! We visit fairly often as we live just around the corner ... well, a few corners. Not only do they have a 'meat, meat, & meat' for our teenagers, there is a fantastic array of yummy pizzas with feta, fresh tomatoes, spinach, ... and more. View the menu below! Call in, they have it ready to take home and bake. Don't have time to bake, they'll do it for you. Oh, and the calzone is huge and to die for. Three humongo gourmet pizzas for just over $40 ... FANtastic!

Doby's has a solid lunch special - two slices of pizza with any three toppings and a medium soida for $4.99. The pizza was surprisingly good - really, really thin and crispy, the toppings were plentiful and tasty and well cooked. I would definitely go back for the lunch special and could easily be talked into either ordering a pizza or taking one home as a take-n-bake.
I don't know why, but I didn't have high expectations for Doby's, probably because it was once a take-n-bake place (and still is) that recently renovated and turned into more of a small sit down place. Hopefully they get more business at night though, because we were the only people in there at the height of the lunch hour.
But they really need to get at least one high chair in there. I'm super sensitive to a place being kid friendly now, so it doesn't make me very happy when they don't even have a place for my little girl to sit comfortably.
If I could, I'd give Doby's a 3.5 for food but I can't round it up to four especially because of the lack of something simple like a high chair. -

This is the best pizza I've found in the Olympia area, by far. 5 stars for the lunch special - 2 slices of 3 topping pizza, made to order - you can have 2 different slices with 3 different toppings on each, and all high quality. Yet another example of simple, quality ingredients resulting in a superior product. The crust is of the extremely thin variety, which is good - the toppings were perfectly complimentary to each other, and it's clear that this pizza is made with care.
Is it possible that this is among the best pizza in the greater Puget Sound area? Wow, that might actually be the case. I know of several neighborhoods in and around Seattle that need a place like this - Olympia/Lacey is lucky. -

I cannot count the number of times I have been back to Doby's and I think it is time for an update. Dare I say that they have the best pizza in town? They easily have the best slices in Lacey. I would say they even rival that of Old School's and Vic's in Olympia. That is a lofty claim, but one that I am willing to make.
The two reasons I come back now:
1. The aforementioned lunch special of two slices of pizza with three toppings of your choice and medium soda for 4.99. Their slices are big and come with a generous heaping of your chosen three toppings. You cannot beat it for five bucks.
2. Their take and bake pizza blows Papa Murphy's out of the freakin' water and is a perfect choice for whenever I don't feel like making something for dinner. Plus, their special on Tuesday is a family size pizza with three toppings for 9.99. Again, it is huge and generously topped. Hey, look, tomorrow's Tuesday. I think I know what's for dinner.Listed in: Top Restaurants

My family has long been devoted to take'n'bake pizza, and always on the lookout for local businesses who make them. Doby's is hands-down the BEST pizza we've ever had since moving to this area in September 2010! We will be back again and again. Thanks, Doby's!

Good chow! And really nice people. It's great that you can choose to have them cook your pizza and/or sandwiches and eat there OR they can cook it and send it home with you piping hot OR they can simply prepare it and you can take it home cold to cook it yourself.
Excellent selection of pies, some a little on the wild side. All very tasty. Okay, I wasn't crazy about the Hawaiian Blue. I'm no purist, but cashews and blue cheese on a pizza is just too weird. Really good sandwiches - panini and otherwise - and big salads as well.
Decent interior, nothing fancy. And like I said... nice people. If you're frequenting one of those Papa takeout pizza chains instead... Well, you're a complete jerk. -

Beat crust, which is pretty much the most important part of the pizza. Nice folks, though.

Their ingrediants are top notch but the crust is super thin and soft. If they ever made a thicker crust it would be my favorite but until then I don't think I will go back. You can tell that the toppings are fresh and high quality though.

We were looking for good pizza place near olympia on our way down to portland and with the help of yelp, we found this hole in the wall. Tucked away in a strip mall in what seems like nowhere, is a gourmet pizza joint. It was new years day and the place was dead. only one take and bake customer besides us was there for lunch. Our first impression was that this place is decorated nicely and gives it a nice vibe. What sets them apart besides their large gourmet menu is there special. You can custom order slices with 3 toppings. We tookadvantage of their $2 off special and order their bbq chicken pizza. Note that they charge $1 for baking the pizza. The pizza was done in about 10 minutes. The pizza had a nice thin crust but the bbq sauce was just a little too sweet. Not bad though but nothing too speical. This place kinda reminded me of a classier and homier version of a papa murphys. If you ever are out there neck of the woods for some reason, you should give it a try.
