Review from Ryan F.
Vince Carter left us something other than a distaste for vinsanity when he left Toronto. He also left us a community basketball court in non other than little known Dixon Park.
To quote BlogTO "Opened by Vince Carter in 2003 and maintained by Toronto Parks & Recreation, the court and the surrounding park host recreation events and tournaments throughout the summer." I can't say that I've seen too many "events" or "tournaments" in the summer recently, but then again, I don't know if programs have been cut. However, it is a great addition to the area because it offers much in terms of physical activity.
This Park has been a stable of the area, which caters to new immigrants. With it's proximity to the airport, the park is host to a multitude of children from all ages. I can recall always walking by in the summer and seeing people playing football, soccer, basketball and cricket all at the same time in different parts of the park.
There is also a tennis court that doubles as a skating rink in the winters. Many new canadians, including myself, learned first on this ice, what ice feels like when you fall face first.
