Dish has served me, in my estimation, between 100 - 200 litres of coffee.  My bones are stained black and my blood is acid - and I've loved every moment of it.

Being a Dish patron for upwards of seven years, they have a proven track record of quality.  A string of friendly and helpful barristas has kept me entertained, while their daily soup and sandwich creations have kept me salivating.

While there is the occasional misstep, their sandwiches have creative ingredients and are always well prepared.  Soup is perpetually delicious.  Their brownies have satisfied mouthfuls of sweet teeth, and given cause to days spent on the treadmill.

The decor is contemporary trendy.  Concrete floors, exposed ceiling, and mostly wooden accoutrements make for a pleasant environment that urges you to stay and relax.

Prices tend to be a little high; in line with the quality of their food, but not for the smaller portions that are served.  A typical lunch will run $12 - 15.  Their short, daily menus (4 items or less) may not always have flavours for everyone.  Summers mean Thursday BBQs and not-to-be-missed house-made chorizo sausages.

Many years ago, I had a really bad experience in one of their classes and swore that I would not go back.  But I had a need to spend some time in that area in the past year and I discovered Dish's charm.

It started one night when I ran in and got a small prepackaged salad to go.  It was when they still had daily salads and while I can't remember exactly what kind of salad it was, the dressing was PHENOMENAL!  I went in a couple of weeks later asking about the dressing and the manager there dedicated her time and attention to figure out what dressing I might have had.  After determining which one it was, she packaged it up for me in a container and sold me the dressing alone. GOOD SERVICE!  YAY!

Since then, I have had lunch there many times and had some many yummy dishes.  I find that their sandwiches are a bit too heavy on sauce / condiments, so I usually have a salad or something out of their cold display case.  The fish cake is SUPER DELISH, as are the chocolate croissants and their uber decadent brownie.

Yes, it's kinda weird that there's an upscale dry cleaners in the back.  But Dish is worth the visit for some yummy treats or prepackaged and frozen dish-es.

I accidentally discovered this place on Dupont.  The building itself looks like it was an old car repair shop or a warehouse.  Once you step inside, you see that its actually very nicely renovated with a big kitchen on the right that they use for cooking classes, some dry cleaning and a spa or something at the back, and then a cafe on the left.  I find this to be a REALLY weird setup.  It seems to cater to a high end crowd and yet the neighbourhood isn't really known for high endiness (unless I'm missing something).

The cookies are really good and reasonably priced.  I thought, however, that the salads were kind of expensive.  I had a quinoa salad that was little more than 3 forks worth and it was around $4.  However, it was very tasty. I am sure I'll be back for the cookies.
