* Almost there! *
I heard a rumour that this spot had good egg tarts, and I was there in a flash to further my egg tart quest. They didn't have any classic traditional egg tarts, but did have two options available:
- Sago egg tart
- Ginger egg tart
Had to try both, as you don't see these as often as the classic version.
The pastry crust was nice and flaky. A very nice job on the crust. The sago egg tart had little sago balls mixed into the custard which gave an interesting texture. Overall the custard was a bit too sweet for my taste, but a nice tart.
The ginger egg custard tart was really nice. There was a very strong natural ginger flavour. It reminded me a bit of the ginger custard at Ho Yuen Kee (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...), which is one of the better desserts at Chinese restaurants in the city that I've had. This was a really nice tart.
The 5th star would be forthcoming if:
1) They offered a classic egg tart version
2) They served the egg tarts warm out of the oven

just walked by it again yesterday, They had a special going on
6 pieces for 4$ !! and you can mix and match or just pick whatever from their rack of buns, tarts etc.
also the whole store is 20% of due to opening week.

Small bakery but very active with customers coming in and out. I recall this was Marc D's reviews and so I went to take a look. They only had the ginger egg tarts good price at $0.70 each. What sparked my interest though was the whole wheat BBQ pork buns so I picked up few buns and egg tart. The egg tarts were very flavorful and the BBQ pork buns maybe the best I have ever had. They had a lot of filling hopefully this will continue. I will have to try their other items. This place is a good find for me.
