I don't know what "Miyako S" was served but my experience at Diamond was a complete opposite of her's. I had lived in Barrie on/off for school over 3 years and had tried every AYCE sushi place in the city. Previously most of my sushi eating was at either Akira or Aji Sai as they were in the north-end of Barrie, closer to where I lived. Upon returning to the city for a visit a friend suggested the newly opened (to me) Diamond Sushi for dinner. Of course, I was more than happy to try a new sushi place.Upon arriving the restaurant looked clean and inviting. Diamond's menu features a wide selection of appetizers, sushi, sashimi (only at dinner), maki, udon, rice, teppanyaki, and tempura choices to suit the taste of any hungry patron. The three of us ordered various appetizers, rolls, sashimi, and rice dishes. We found the rolls to be very fresh tasting and well prepared, especially since the proportions of rice and fish/veggies were spot on. All too often I find AYCE restaurants overload the rolls with rice to avoid having to use more expensive ingredients and to fill diners up faster. As with any dinner sushi experience, the sashimi is very important. Aside from a few pieces of red snapper that were still slightly frozen, the salmon, white tuna, and surf clam tasted flesh and had a good texture. Diamond also has many creative options including several rolls made with rice paper (such as the snow roll, a personal favorite). The dessert choices include several varieties of ice-cream, vanilla or mango pudding, and banana tempura. I tried the mango pudding and was surprised to see it was a molded gelatinous type rather than the smoother kind I am used to. They decorate it with a warm vanilla sauce which was amazing. I had never had such a good dessert at any AYCE sushi restaurant. I also opted for the fried banana which came by the slice and was topped with a chocolate sauce. Once again, very tasty (and sweet). The desserts are definitely worth saving room for. My only negative comment would be that the red snapper sashimi slices arrived frozen to the table. I am guessing they leave the fish frozen in order to make slicing thin pieces easier.

Being that we ate on a Monday evening the restaurant wasn't busy and therefore the service was prompt and we received all of the orders. I therefore cannot comment on the complaints many patrons of this restaurant had regarding the slow service and incorrect orders.

Gross.. Everything was mushy with no texture.. Avocado looked brown and the water smelled.  This is my second time here because I had a gift card, I wouldn't otherwise pay to eat here..
