LOVE.
Delicious Italian food is right!
For a quick trip out for some good ((light)) Italian grub, DiMaggio's is where it's at! Whether you dine in their Italian cafe, or place an order for delivery, you won't be disappointed. The prices are fair. The service is fast. Even when ordering for delivery, you food will show up fresh and piping hot!! Magnifico!!
DiMaggio's is the perfect place for lunch. Their focus is on sandwiches, salads wraps, light appetizers, and pizza - all with quality Italian ingredients & flavors. If you're craving something a little heavier, they do have a handful of pasta dishes. But be prepared for a gut bomb - the portions are huge!
Faves & Craves.....
::Arancina::
Breaded rice ball stu!ed with hearty meat sauce and cheese
::Minestrone soup::
::Prosciutto & Fresh Mozzarella Sub::
Imported prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, lettuce, tomato and olive oil
:: Prosciutto Panini::
Imported prosciutto, fontina, tomatoes, red onions, and Italian seasoning
::Vegetariano Panini::
Grilled zucchini, eggplant, roasted peppers, artichokes, provolone, onions and Italian seasoning
::Gnocchi with Pesto Sauce::
Conclusion? DiMaggio's is great little cafe to fit all of your lunchy needs! I highly recommend them and absolutely love them! -

As an Italian from the best part which is Calabria for anyone that did not know....This is the best when it comes to Italian cuisine. People always ask me where the best Italian place to eat is and until I started coming to Di Maggio's I used to say my kitchen. I take friends, family, and my client's here. From the antipasto, to the amazing canolis (they must be using a Calabrese recipe) You can not go wrong! This is heaven for your taste buds. Ask for Trini she is awesome!
P.S. I have been coming here for years and they never have had ribs??? Or Mashed potatoes???? That person has the wrong place.......
Take a look at that delicious pic!!! -

For the price I wasn't really satisfied. The ribs are OK- not amazing and the best thing, ironically, was the mashed potatoes. They forgot to bring the soup which came with my husband's meal and he wasn't really happy with the 5 ravioli they gave him without any type of side or soup. He ended up eating the other half of my ribs which I didn't like due to being extremely over cooked. Maybe it would have been better had I ordered during the day? Who knows- can't say I'll be ordering again.

Fair place overall.
Naturally I am a tough critic of places like this because I've experienced such a wide array of authentic Italian dining. But Di'Maggio's was fair.
I've had the arancini a few times for lunch and that is my favorite thing to order from here. Solid portion size, filled well, cooked well, good dish.
I've also had a few different pannini from here, which were all not bad, but average. I believe the chicken pesto would be my favorite of the bunch.
It has a nice little dining area that is probably suited best for big parties (I've known people to gather there for big sporting events [soccer games]). There's a very large TV that would be perfect for this type of gathering.
If you're looking to sit down there and have a quiet peaceful dining experience, this probably isn't the place to go.
Also, I've been here about half a dozen times and the service has always been bad. Very rude, un-welcoming, and non-suggestive. -

I absolutely love Di'Maggio's in Harwood Heights/Norridge.
This place is great! They have great lunch specials and their food is very fresh and always a pleasure. I have tasted their coffee and espresso's and they are excellent!
As the previous poster suggested.......for Italian cookies and desserts, this is the place to be!
It is a family ran establishment and you definitely will enjoy the atmosphere. I always see all types of people in here and everyone always feels welcomed.
So if you are int he area, stop by for some great food and service. -

Di Maggio, like it's been said before here, is wonderfully relaxing and laid back. It really is a faithful reproduction of cafes you would see in Italy, comeplete with gelato, pastries, a full menu plus a liquer and coffee bar.
It was the perfect place to spend a late afternoon on a Sunday. A buddy and I were looking for a cafe to get a cup of joe in Jefferson Park, and I decided to head a little farther west to try one of my favorite Italian cafes along Harlem.
Rex Foods had just closed, and I decided to turn west onto Lawrence knowing there were some in that direction. Di Maggio is right off the intersection at Harlem Lawrence-Gunnison.
I had some delicious Italian cookies, a type you can only find in Italy, with an amazing cup of cappucino. The cafe is tasteful inside, decorated with 06 World Cup memorabilia, as any authentic Italian place should be.
I also bought a bag of great Italian-style pepper pretzles, something I haven't had in years. I came away feeling realxed and throughly pleased.
Di Maggio is an easy drive, just a mile south of 90, and the 81 Lawrence CTA bus stops in front of it, as well as the nearby 90 Harlem CTA bus.Listed in: Off the Beaten Path, Italia in Chicago

If you're on the hunt for a European-feeling cafe and to get out of the rustle & bustle of downtown Chicago, check out DiMaggio. It's so Euro, you'll get the slow service and all.
First off, they have an actual bar with bottles, mirrors and TVs. The bar is shared with their espressos and capuccinos machines which are delicious...but you must have a cookie/cannoli or two per cup to make it complete. If you can't make up your mind on which pastry to get, I absolutely loved the chocolate almond birds nests. To die for! Oh and just have a field day while you're at it because you can't pass up the authentic gelato. I had spumoni to try all the flavors in one--Chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, strawberry and lemon. Heavenly!
I had to write this review asap because I did a Yelp search on my iPhone while in front of the cafe and the only Coffee/Tea option was Dunkin' Donuts. Here's your second option which you can't pass by!Listed in: All The Time Is Tea Time, Cone Head: The Life of an…

The pizza is amazing, by far the best in the Chicago area! They have a unique pizza selection that is hard to find anywhere else. I'd also recommend trying out their panninis. I almost always order their blended iced latte since their coffee drinks are the best in town.
Staff is super friendly and very hospitable. If you go more than once, the owners will recognize you. Definitely a very nice getaway for lunch or an early dinner, especially for this dull neighborhood. I try to stop by at least once a week for lunch. -

I have been eating here for years and have never had a bad experience! It is owned by 3 brothers who are so friendly and down to earth that they will walk around when they are there and ask how your food is and if you need anything else.
I usually get the penne pasta with marinara and chicken but I have also had the salads (sicilian salad is good), soups, and of course you can't go wrong with their gelato (try one scoop of pistachio and one scoop of hazelnut and you won't go wrong!). -

I believe this place used to be another Italian restaurant that I really liked, and it still is a great Italian restaurant. The moment you walk in you are bound to see the delicious looking baked goods. I love the atmosphere of the place. It feels like you are in a cafe and very homey. They have a full bar, and our waitress was super nice and so on top of her game. She was the only waitress there working all the tables, and we were a party of 10. I had the Romano Panini and it was delicious and just the right portion. The salad was tasty too. I would love to come back. It feels so authentic, but I will have come back to try some of the pastas to compare. Everyone else in my group seemed to like the food. The prices are pretty average.

The food was very good. I enjoyed the pizza and delivery was good. Unfortunately, they have implemented a $20 minimum order for delivery, so I am unable to order from them anymore.

They're the new guys in town, and they're great! They make their own pizza and rolls on site and sell some fabulous Italian pastries and cookies. You can else enjoy coffee drinks, sandwiches and soups. Cannoli's are my favorites. They have late hours and the last time I was there, they had some great tunes playing in the background. A lovely place, enjoy!

Went here last night and was very happy with the Penne pasta I ordered. In a garlic-butter sauce with chicken, proscuito, and sun-dried tomato. I had the soup of the day which was great but my girlfriend ordered the salad with the vinaigrette that was amazing. She had been here before and said she was blown away by the cannolis. She was right, the cannolis were so delicious and I got a box of cookies to go for a party we were going to later that night and they were delicious as well. I can not wait to go back there and eat another cannoli. The food was excellent but that little pastry is a reason to go by itself.

Nice little hidden italian cafe, the owners are very friendly and almost wont let you leave. I had the arancini once and a streak sandwich the other time. the food is good and some of the sweets are kick ass. Be sure to ask what is homeade in terms of the desserts because the ones that are really are worth a trip.

After reading the review in FRA NOI, I decided to come in and try out your restaurant. The food was fabulous. The atmosphere was quaint, and cozy .We had a waitress named Mary who knows the menu well and took such good care of us .I felt like I was at a Sunday family dinner. In this day and age it is hard to find anyone who knows what they are doing in any line of work
In this economy where we wisely spend our money and have a choice of many places to eat I will definitely come back here. Since I don't live in the area I can't get here as often as I would like,but I will be back especially for the cookies. Thank You and keep up the good work. -

I love this place. It is laid back and the food is high quality. I love the antipasti salad and the vinagrette dressing is very tasty. Also, the Rigatoni all Vodka is amazing and the sauce is homemade. Every time I order it tastes a little different which makes it even more enjoyable. Other people rave about the thin crust pizza, cannoli's and gelato!
Must try! -

This place really is great. The food is delicious and decently priced, and it's truly a family-owned business, as you'll see when the brothers come around and ask you about your meal, etc. Highly recommended.

I stopped by the other day, because I have not been there in awhile. I was pleasantly surprised that DiMaggio's cafe had not changed like everything else in the area. They have a great soup and sandwich combo for a reasonable price. Also, if you like Italian cookies, then this is the place. I recommend you take advantage of this European style cafe and treat yourself to a lunch there or maybe some coffee and cookies for a four o' clock pick me up.
