Twas me and the daughter today.  Decided to take her somewhere special so i took her to Dessert Sinsations.  I hadn't been there previously so i didnt know what to expect.

I can say though that I was extremely impressed by not only the food but the service as well!

Mini-me had a bowl of their Tomato Soup ($4.25 for a small $6.25 for a large) which came with a fair sized bun.  While I went for my all time favorite, poutine ($10).

Mini-me enjoyed the soup.  Upon sampling it myself, i found it to be very herby and flavorful.  I was also pleased to discover chunks of tomato in there as well.  When i ordered tomato soup, i was simply expecting just a bowl of campbell soup-esque kind of soup.  What we got however was pleasantly far beyond that.

Even the poutine was exceptional.  Normally, all i expect from poutine is fries, cheese, and gravy. Plain and simple.  This poutine was more.. Much more.  What was presented was a mix of normal fries AND yam fries smothered in cheese and drowned in homemade gravy.. The waitress even came around with a pepper mill (A PEPPER MILL!) For freshly cracked black pepper.  What ensued was my eyes rolling back in my head out of sheer pleasure as my tastebuds did a happy dance.

Best.... Poutine... Ever.  Only thing though is that the portion could've been a bit bigger.  Cause it was bloody awesome and I still wanted to stuff my face with more as I sadly looked down at my empty bowl.

Regarding service..  it was excellent.  I dont think there was a moment where I didn't see a staff member without a smile on her face.   Food came out very promptly (less than 10 mins).

Mini-me was also very thrilled, as the chef herself came out to greet her and even went so far as to take her for a tour of the kitchen whereupon all the kitchen staff greeted her. Chef then took Mini-me behind the dessert counter to choose a cookie (Chocolate dipped shortbread star with white chocolate drizzle).  It was a nice touch to their already great service.  I thank you Dessert Sinsations.. Mini-me and I will definitely be coming back more often.

Loved the Callebaut chili hot chocolate; my lunch wasn't all the good, had the curry chicken fingers and sweet potato fries.  Couldn't hardly taste the curry and it seemed to be cooked too much.  My husband was very happy with his bacon and cream cheese burger.  I had a bit and it was delicious.  The desserts were ok but not spectacular - had the mini imperial cookie, chocolate/peanut butter bar and the lime-raspberry bar (was my fav).

Although it is a bit pricey, the lunch portions on the smaller side - we will try again.

We came here for take out the other night and got a couple of slices of cake. The staff was very friendly and helpful in making a selection and everything looked lovely.

We got the Sentimental Spice Torte & Oreo Cheesecake, both of which were delicious. The torte was nice & moist and the whipped cream was a nice light contrast to the heavier cake. The sweet icing on the outside was delightful.

The cheesecake was really tasty and had a very nice, heavy texture.

I really like the atmosphere of the cafe, though we didn't eat in this time.

Prices were on the high side, with cake slices starting at $8.50 and going up from there, but it was a nice treat, just what I wanted.

Take out was in cardboard boxes & wax paper, not styrofoam, which I appreciate.

A nice dessert alternative to the always busy Baked Expectations. I didn't realize they also have a full menu of non-dessert items too. Lots of lunch items like soups and sandwiches that are about $12 each and a few dinner entrees around the low $20 range. Desserts are about $9 for a slice and there are some small squares and cupcakes available too. Pricing is a bit higher than Baked Expectations. I found it strange that a mini black and white cookie would cost $2.50 each, maybe for a regular size but these were tiny!
The lemon torte is quite moist and very lemony in taste; it's a good dessert if you like that but not my fav. The brown sugar brownie with buttercream icing was okay, dense but not the traditional tasting brownie if that's what you're looking for.

I liked the late night ambiance - it's cozy without being too loud so it's perfect for a date or a small group. The staff were very friendly and prompt with their service.

Parking is available in their lot but the spots are soooo tiny!

this place is quite alright..  their parking is kinda cramped as the spaces are pretty tight but at least they do have their own lot..  i don't really imagine the lot totally filling up

we started off with the honey garlic wings..  they're pretty good imo..  great crispness and an abundance of flavor..  only thing is, there were only 8

my entree was the house steak sammich, medium rare..  it was tender and juicy while the bread was toasted with butter..  great flavor

lady friend had the bacon white cheddar beef burger..  it was very very moist and the taste was absolutely flavorful without it being overpowering

lastly, the dessert i had was the butter tarte..  that's not so good..  it has raisins so the flavor is a bit too sharp and not what i had expected

overall, the ambiance is nice, the servers are attentive cordial with smiles, clean interior with decent decor..  but it's also a bit overpriced..  worth visiting at least once though

I found this gem by chance. Love the cozy interior. It's a small place but excellent for take-out or dining in. I have been here a few times to either just pick up a desert or get a late nite sandwich. The food is always good and the deserts are always fresh and yummm. I have occasionally been very disappointed with the service though..maybe because of the minimal staff. The place is not too pricy and overall its a nice place for desert or a date! It has parking out front which is tight so I guess its better than street parking.
