I will start by saying that I am not a cupcake fanatic. I sampled one of Desmond and Beatrice's cupcakes on my first visit there and they were alright, nothing to write home about. Their cookies, on the other hand, are a whole different story.

    Oh. My. God.

Hands down, the BEST cookies I've ever had. And I have had a LOT of cookies! I have returned every Sunday for the last 3 weeks just to see which cookies they have up for grabs (from what I understand, the cookies get switched up every day). So far I have sampled:

    - the cowboy - my fave so far, oatmeal, chocolate chip, rasin, pretzel (?!) - amazing
    - the gingersnap - crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside, great spice and malt flavour
    - the oatmeal rasin - always a classic, same combo of crispy/chewy perfection
    - the oatmeal chocolate chip - deloosh, but not quite as deloosh as the cowboy
    - the oatmeal cranberry white chocolate - also amazing
    - the peanut butter - oh man, this one is pure heaven - it's the crispy/chewy that gets me every time!!

Who knows what they'll have on display this Sunday... all I know is that I'm going to be there to find out, and you should be too!

YUM!!!  We picked up two types of cupcakes today for Mothers' Day.  The chocolate vanilla and strawberry were both delicious.  I liked the icing on both.  Honestly, I don't generally gravitate towards cupcakes and I'm still a little mystified by this cupcake shop explosion in Leslieville/Riverside.  Having said that, I did enjoy this sweet treat.

As a suggestion, having recently visited Sweet Revenge in NYC, considering the amount of space they have at Desmond and Beatrice, perhaps it would be cool to get licensed and offer cupcakes with a suggested wine or beer pairing.  Just something to set this place apart from other cupcake places.

Cute little shop! Stopped by for a sugar fix. Had a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting - it wasn't anywhere near a Dlish or a Bobette & Belle cupcake, but it was perfectly alright. :) It was a decent cupcake, the cake was a little heavier than I'd like, and the flavours weren't terribly complex. The frosting was much heavier than I care for, but it wasn't too sweet, and it was totally fine. The day I stopped on, there weren't too many cupcakes to choose from, and the flavours seemed pretty standard. I wouldn't drive crosstown for these cupcakes, but I might have another one sometime. Three stars for the cupcake.

I also had a ginger cookie, and that cookie was EXCELLENT. One of the best ginger cookies I've had in TO! Just the right amount of spicy spice, and the chewy on the inside/crispy on the outside texture was just right. Will definitely be back for another cookie. Five stars for the cookie!! Craving one right now. :)

    Incredible little cupcakes!
They are so good that I had to make myself a rule for how many I can eat a week.
What an amazing addition to the neighborhood!

I wandered in here today to discover there's a new bakeshop/cupcakery in the neighbourhood.  I really enjoy supporting local businesses so I purchased 2 cupcakes.  The outside of the store is cute, and inside it's rather unassuming.  They had 6 varieties of cupcakes to choose from, and piles of decadent looking and very large cookies, and other baked goodies also.  We went with a peanut butter cupcake and a salted caramel cupcake.  The peanut butter cupcake tasted like a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter (buttercream?) icing and was topped with a half a reese peanut butter cup (yummie, a must have).  The salted caramel tasted like a chocolate cupcake with a hint of salted caramel.  both were tasty, and worth trying!

I stumbled upon their website in 2011 after looking for cupcakes in the Riverside/Leslieville area. Even though Amanda did not have a retail front yet, she was kind enough to let me sample cupcakes at the bakery. Many dozen cupcakes and a wedding cupcake cake later, we continue to visit D&B for some seriously amazing treats.

I came into the shop yesterday, and these were hands down the best cupcakes I've ever had! They were incredibly moist and delicious, and the staff was so friendly and shop so cute. I've tried some of their other baked goods at places like The Green Beanery, but having everything extremely fresh and in-shop was amazing! They also have awesome flavours like earl grey and key lime. Mmmmm... Excuse me while I salivate.
