Great work, 5 stars...but there was an error on their part. Customer service gone ass-backwards. The solution? Not printing the cards that would make the customer happy.
Joel refused to complete the order and said that in the printing business, they just refund the money, and saying that the error was such a small percentage of the order it wouldn't be worth their while to fix their error. Instead of getting my complete order, I was ushered out with a check i couldn't even cash. I'd understand had I spent $300, $400, or even $700, but I spent over $1,000.00 on these cards. You should make your customer happy. In the future, I will go elsewhere. For the amount of money i spent, I expected exceptional customer service. -

I've been using Joel for years and just trust him completely to do an amazing job. He's very knowledgeable about printing and is fantastic to work with.
As a designer, I'm looking for something a little better and Joel always brings that extra something. -

Way back in 2009 Joel & crew printed our wedding invitations. Seriously easy going and professional people, with competitive prices (even more so if you're a designer & get everything plate/press ready), and full of helpful suggestions.
My husband and I are a designer/artist duo, but didn't want the stress of printing ourselves. They even called us when the colors we chose "didn't look good together", which they didn't (we should have known better, bad duo), & we promptly adjusted the color right on the press.
Just waiting for an excuse to print with them again, but our typical Saturday pot-lucks seem a bit too hum-drum for their exquisite product!
...but then again...hmm. -

Joel at Dependable Letterpress is great! I've been sending clients for their high-end print jobs for years. Just because they are high-end, they aren't overly high-cost. I did a price quote for offset printing vs letterpress for a client and lettepress was actually more inexpensive!
Letterpress printing is an art and Joel and his team really know the nuances that these great printers can create. They always offer their $0.02 in design suggestions that would really make the design pop. I'm almost through my business cards and can't wait to get the next set printed here. -

My "web and branding girl", Leslie from Flair Designs, recommended that I use Joel for a custom sticker to put in my client photo albums.
I was concerned about price, and I know that letterpress is such an art. I wanted something nice, and we asked for a quote. Joel gave us a quote and even recommended that there were cheaper ways to make the sticker if we wanted to save money. I wanted something that showed quality, and was committed to letterpress.
I ordered in bulk, 500 stickers, and they came out to .60cents each. I am very impressed with the final product and price.
Joel is professional and easy to work with. He offers high quality products at a fair price. -

Joel is awesome. Super-fast communication. He helped me make it cheaper -- even giving me some ideas I didn't end up using. I designed my wedding invitation in InDesign and he made it look even better without cramping my style. I have gotten so so many comments about how great they look, which of course inflates my ego, but I couldn't have done it without Dependable Letterpress.
The studio is super awesome, with a lot of old-timey looking machines (including one that used to put the perforations in stamps which we used for our reply cards).
Anyway, yes, highly highly highly recommended. -

Wow, wow, wow! These people are artists and craftsmen both. I can't say enough about the sumptuous delectable quality of their work. And Joel was the least expensive letterpress I could find. Amazing.

My nonprofit had a very last minute order of 125 invitations and envelopes. Within just two weeks, Joel worked with us to pick the right paper (even mailing samples to us to choose from) and envelopes, dealt with several changes to our text and deadlines, and got everything printed and ready to go. I was extremely impressed by his patience and professional attitude, and we couldn't have been more satisfied with the finished product.
I highly recommend Dependable Letterpress. Top-notch customer service and attention to detail. A delight to work with! -

A wonderful letterpress printer in the Dog Patch area of SF, Joel and his team always produce beautiful work for a reasonable price. We had our business stationery and other pieces printed with them and have always been pleased with the attention to detail and great service. =)

Joel and crew did a great job printing the business cards I designed for my partner. His paper suggestions were right on and really gave us the look we were going for. I had my wedding invitations done at Dependable Letter Press, and they turned out beautifully. Joel was really easy to communicate with over email, which I prefer. I called a few other letter press companies and DLP was the best price. At first I was hesitant to do letter pressing because I figured nobody notices invitations and such, but I've gotten a ton of compliments.

I had my wedding invitations and a special side project printed by Joel and his team. They are the nicest people ever and they really enjoy their craft. They took every detail very seriously and was always so pleasant to work with. When they first printed my invitations, they had mistakenly perforated the wrong panel (I had a tear-off panel for the rsvp). This was of course unexpected. Joel was so apologetic and immediately offered to remedy this by reprinting everything again. This was unfortunate for all of us because it delayed our time line by 1 day or 2 and Joel had to eat the cost and create more work for himself. Things happen, people make mistakes, but the important thing was that Joel took full responsibility, fixed the problem and was gracious the whole time.

This is a long over due review. How long over due ... about 3 years. We were married August 2005 and Joel at Dependable Press was our printer. Dependable is an understatement - more like exceptional. Exceptional pricing, exceptional attention to detail, exceptional service and quality. Letterpress is truly an art beyond any description I am capable of providing. Those who have experienced it will never go back to just printing. We were on a small budget for our 50 guests wedding but 1 thing we were not cutting corners on was the invitations. Joel worked with us to develop the perfect product, even going so far as to allowing us to provide the drawing to be used. Our project came under budget and the final product exceed our expectations ! I'm happy to see that there has been a review for Joel on http://yelp.com. Smart and savvy yelpers, I am sure you will spend hours at the Union Street and Presidio Heights stores (you know what I'm talking about) figuring out what you want and then once you narrow your 100 choices to about 5, you'll give Joel a visit, right ?

If you can design it, Joel can print it! Dependable Letterpress did a beautiful job on my wedding invitations and working with them was so easy -- Joel understood right away what I wanted and was very helpful throughout the process. It was also fun to see the presses in action at the studio!
