We've stayed here several (3) times in the past year even though we live in Ottawa. It's a great get away. I always get treated very well here. The breakfast buffet at Mystique is top notch - among the best hotel buffets that I can recall. The fitness room is good - would love to see a barbell with some more plates - but the C2 rower is a nice touch. Our kids love the pool/hot tub and we all love the water slide!
When you go out the back of the hotel, you're right on Sparks St and it's a close walk to Parliament Hill (5-10 min), the Byward Market (15-20 min), etc. We end up parking the truck and walking everywhere when we stay here.
Sign up for Delta Privilege (it's free) and you get free internet and a late checkout, even at the base level.Comment from Kathy T. of Delta Ottawa Hotel & Suites 4/21/2011

I went to the Delta for a formal event. My boyfriend and I were invited to attend the third annual Canadian AIDS Society Light the Town Red World AIDS Day Gala on December 1st, 2010.
Two main rooms were used. One was a smaller room with a bar and tables set up for cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and a silent auction. Appetizers were passed around very regularly, plates and glasses were cleared quickly, and the bartender was fast, made great drinks, and was very friendly.
The dinner, main auction, speeches, and awards were all held in a large banquet hall. The room wasn't too large, but was the perfect size for the number in attendance. The tables were set up very nicely, and though we waited awhile for have dinner, the staff was quick to serve water, wine, and drinks.
It was a three-course meal. The appetizer was a baked mushroom soup with truffle oil and puff pastry on top. The main course was a AAA roasted strip loin with vegetables and a layered potato and cheese tart. The dessert was a maple mousse cake with fresh berries. It was all incredibly delicious and well presented. The main course, especially, was much more filling than it looked.
I did feel bad, however, for the lady who sat beside us. She was a vegetarian and it took the kitchen at least half an hour to prepare her something, which ended up being a bowl of roasted vegetables - that's it! She waited so long, and there wasn't even rice, bread, nothing. It didn't even looked like it was seasoned or anything. Naturally, she wasn't very happy. You would expect that a venue that holds business meetings, banquets, and formal events would be prepared to have one other vegetarian option, as not everyone at these large gatherings are meat-eaters. -
