Nothing sucks more than driving home on an empty stomach. The girlfriend and I were on our way up from visiting some buddies in the area, and, though I love Mexican food to death, we just had enough to last us a lifetime. Before making our return trip back up to LA, we decided to make the obligatory search through Yelp and came across this gem.

We called in to see if they would deliver to a parked car in the middle of who knows where, and lo and behold they would. We ordered the Pink Lady (bomb diggity for tuna lovers), and two rolls of which I have forgotten by name. They were essentially inverses of each other (one with salmon and tuna on the outside, the other with the same combo on the inside) with slight variations. Fish was undoubtedly fresh, and maybe it was the hunger, but the quality was definitely up there with establishments I have frequented during normal restaurant hours back in LA.

In general, I'd be wary of late night sushi, but bottom line, they delivered the goods, both literally and figuratively. I could see how this would be popular among the students, and I guarantee a good chunk of my cash (aka loan money) would have gone straight to these guys.

For the convenience, I would give this place 3 stars, but for the quality.. 2 stars......

What I love about their concept:
    * Opened: 7 pm to 2 am!
    * Deliver

Yup that's right! For all those who are lazy to go out and get food, but are craving sushi, this is the place to order from.

I love the concept that they actually deliver sushi during those times...

I have ordered from this place at least 3 times at midnight.

Con:  The food is just OKAY.  They're not bad, but not the best sushi ever.  Also, they're a little pricey for the portion and the quality.  The sushi size is a little small.  I have ordered :

Baked Lobster Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Dynamite Roll, Crunchy Roll, and many others.  They are good, but again, not as great as other sushi places.

The delivery/wait time:  always quick because I live right near their restaurant.

Personally, I do order from them when I'm lazy, but I do prefer to go to an actual sushi restaurants, especially when I want quality sushi.

    - Don't be fooled, if this place were a restaurant, it would receive 1 star
    - One baked roll will take you back two pounds and 14 seconds of your life (I don't trust their fresh sushi)
    - Only good for late night studying

delivery service when the midnight munchies come? SCORE!
Overall, the food here isn't anything too special. The price is pretty expensive, around the $10 mark, but they do give you quite a lot that'll leave you satisfied. I had the baked salmon roll and a friend of mine had the baked lobster roll. They were pretty tasty but were far from the most spectacular thing I've had. Worth the price? Meh.
But, the delivery guy was such a cutie! He, in his broken English, delivered with a smile and an even cuter "Thank you."
My only complaint was that the food took almost an hour to arrive. I was sure as heck not expecting that.

DelSushi: no relation to DelTaco. But who woulda thought- they deliver!

Thanks to the guardian angels of Yelp I discovered this place a few days ago and ordered 3 times already! (disclaimer: didn't actually "discover" as in visiting brick-and-mortar, referring to delsushi website).

Girls, you know those late nights when you're starving like a T-rex but too lazy to cook cuz you need to watch that special episode of (insert kdrama with Rain), and your boyfriend is in an intense SC2 match and there's no way he's going to get off his Zerg ass to buy you some food? DelSushi to the rescue!

Convenient and fast. Got here in 15 mins aka within 1 SC2 game. AWESOME!

And if you hate that greasy feeling after eating McRonalds and Mama John's, along with other late-night food joints, pick DelSushi! I highly recommend the baked lobster roll + Rainbow roll.

If the owner of DelSushi reads this, please please PLEASE expand the menu! I'd die of happiness if you guys added fried chicken, jjajjamyun (korean black bean noodles), and other foods that us Asian pre-med UCSD students/late shift workers crave in the middle of the night.

I recently visited my friends who go to UCSD and we got in a bit late, around midnight. Being college kids, we were all starving around this time and so one of my friends suggested we order DelSushi. I was sold as soon as I heard delivery and sushi, two of my favorite things, especially so late at night. We ordered a spicy tuna roll, a volcano roll and a baked lobster roll. The sushi may not be the best but delivery at midnight near a college campus!? I couldn't ask for more! Will definitely try again the next time I come down to visit UCSD!

Delsushi can be either a hit or a miss. I've ordered from here many times - all deliveries to my home. Sometimes, they get my food to me in 10 minutes. Other times, it takes an hour or so. Sometimes their food is delicious - I usually order some baked rolls (Baked Lobster Roll - delicious!!!) and sometimes it comes piping hot. Other times, it's cold as a rock. The biggest downside of this place is that you have to order $15 of food just to get delivery. But hey, delivery's free! So who can complain?

TIP: Don't order "fresh" fish rolls. I got Salmon once and it wasn't the freshest Salmon I've ever had....It was probably one of the most disgusting Salmon I've ever had.

This shop is basically the ucsd late night crave factory for the sushi lovers.  Every campus has one, and ours is DelSushi!

The sushi isn't the freshest, but you don't exactly expect it to be.  It's certainly more than edible, though, and I actually enjoyed eating the rolls from here, as opposed to my ridiculous Surfside Sushi experience.

For a late night snack (meal?), it's certainly more than welcome, and the fact that they deliver right to people's on campus dorms is even more of a plus.  Oddly enough, some of the rolls come out looking and tasting the same, like when we ordered the baked scallops and baked lobster rolls.  But it's not too big of a complaint.

DelSushi is what it is: late night food for studying or partying students, good enough to eat, not that it matters too much at those hours.  I hope for all the service DelSushi provides college students, they're making buckets of money!

Found out this place from my house mate who never tried Del Sushi so we thought it would be a perfect time to see what it was all about! It was a rainy day and it was finals week which meant that we were hungry students! We ordered baked scallop roll, dynamite roll, baked lobster and maki roll because we wanted to make sure that there was going to be enough food to make us full. With 4 different orders, I was so full that I was too lazy to continue studying. The sushi was really tasty! I was surprised how delicious delivered sushi would be. I was expecting ordinary, cheap sushi but I was proved wrong. Everything was fresh and I'm pleased! Big plus is that it offers free delivery for UCSD students living on campus and off campus apartments near the campus.

Being a commuter student without a car (in La Jolla, of all places) kinda sucks sometimes. Okay, it sucks a lot of the time, but that's not my point.

In situations like these, I'm thankful that there is a place that exists like Del Sushi. They are my go-to for my late night grub. $15 is a lot for delivery food for one (I promise I go out, despite the UCSD stereotype!) so I often have to order like two rolls that I can't really finish without being super full so a couple pieces get thrown into the fridge to be inedible in the morning. But whatevz, it's the price I have to pay for good food, straight to my house, usually in under 15 minutes (sometimes they're faster than my email confirmation, seriously).

As for the sushi, it's not bad. I've obviously had better at sit-down places, but I actually think it's pretty comparable to Ginza Sushi in the La Jolla Village Plaza (which is okay sushi too). The Baked Lobster Roll is a personal favorite, as well as the Volcano Roll, which is the perfect amount of spicy. I'm a little sketched out by how fresh it is considering it's delivery service, so I figure sauce'll cover up any fishiness. :)

    Now I want sushi....

SUCH A GOOD SURPRISE!!! I have been craving sushi, but am lazy and didn't feel like fighting traffic, so I decided to take a chance on DelSushi.  I am SO GLAD I did.  Note: this place opens at 7pm, and our food came really quickly when we ordered right @7.  So I'd recommend doing that if you want dinner and don't want to wait :)

We decided to order a sh*t ton of food, because we didn't know how big the rolls were, or which ones we'd like, so we got:

    1)Spicy tuna roll
    2) Firecracker roll
    3) Baked lobster roll
    4) Del Sushi special roll
    5) Spicy scallop roll
    6) Dragon Roll
    7) Edamame

Yes, we are hugely fat, and love it :)  We had enough food for 3, so next time even if we are STARVING (which we were), we will order 3-4 rolls and edamame.

Our favorites were the baked lobster roll, del sushi special roll, and spicy tuna roll.  The dragon roll was good as well, just not quite as good as the other 3.

The firecracker roll and spicy scallop roll deserve a disclaimer.  The scallop is raw.  Totally raw.  I'm sure lots of people like it, and I likely should have expected it because its sushi, but somehow I was still surprised.  While the scallop tasted fresh, it was really gummy and jello-y, which just isn't my favorite.  The fiance liked it, but I thought it deserved mention in case other people are weird about textures.

Our total was 60$, which isn't bad for sushi that could feed 3 people.  I never expect to get tasty sushi for under 20$ per person, so I didn't have too much of an issue w. price.  However, there are lots of rolls here that are really inexpensive but still super tasty (spicy tuna), so it certainly is possible to get a full tasty sushi meal for 10-15$ a person here.  Drivers are nice, and they found my apt in One Miramar without problem and within 30 minutes.  I was impressed and pleased.

Overall I highly recommend, and the fiance and I can't wait to try more rolls from here!

    Pretty much what you'd expect.
Ordering online is pretty convenient, and they deliver right to your door but you have to purchase at least $15 worth of food. Selection is alright and prices are decent too, but a bit overpriced for what you get. You can't really do much better when you're craving sushi at 1am though haha. I got the Spicy Tuna Roll and the Rainbow Roll. The Rainbow Roll was smaller than it looked in the picture, but the Tuna roll was good. I didn't feel that the Rainbow Roll was as fresh as it should have been; the fish and shrimp had sort of a fishy taste. The Spicy tuna roll was good though.

Oh, and they have a comments section where you can request special things for your order; great for if you have allergies or just really hate certain ingredients. Just for kicks, I asked for them to draw a tuna fish eating a rainbow on my box. When my food came, the delivery guy (very nicely) apologized that he couldn't draw it, bummer :( but at least he was polite.

I'd order again, but probably stick to the smaller options as opposed to specialty rolls. Or maybe just get the cooked rolls.

Order miso soup - little bit salty, not the best ever, but for a buck, can't complain.
Roll with spicy tuna and baked white fish - was okay, spicy tuna was not really spicy and low quality.
Roll with crab and eel, and avocado, was decent.
8 bucks for a seaweed salad is a little steep.
Overall first round it was okay. I like the concept, and they are open late. I will probably order from here again, because well, sometimes I'm up late, and feel like sushi.

My boyfriend and I decided to visit our friends at UCSD for Valentine's Day weekend. One night, we were up late and wanted to search for late night delivery options. My friends told me about this sushi delivery place and at first I was doubtful.... sushi delivery? I never knew such a thing exists. But I decided to try it. The website was nicely designed with pictures of every roll, which helped in the decision-making process. We ended up ordering the Baked Lobster Roll, Dragon Roll, and Shrimp Crunch roll.

    WOWZA!!!!!

All my doubts vanished. The Baked Lobster Roll was my favorite. It was delicious.. I wish I ordered two!! The free delivery took half an hour but well worth the wait.

Del Sushi, please open up a place in LA!

Got Sushi Delivered to UCSD at 1:00 AM while my friends and I were cramming for finals.

Menu online was easy to order with, pictures helped a lot! Prices are average, hovering around $10 a roll.

    We ordered:
    California Roll
    Baked Lobster Roll
    Baked Salmon Roll
    Dragon Roll

Total came out to $36, which wasn't too bad since the rolls were decently sized.

Free delivery which was awesome! It took around 40 minutes to get our order.

    Now onto the food:
    Rolls were surprisingly pretty good!

I recommend the Baked Lobster roll, you can actually see the langostino lobster pices ontop. There is lots of mayonaise so it does fill you up quite quickly.

I would skip the Baked Salmon Roll though. Salmon was overcooked, and didn't taste that yummy. Kind of bland.

Dragon roll was good, but the eel slices were too thin and small.

CA Roll was your standard roll, tell them not to put sesame seeds on it though.

    3 stars for now.
I  will revise up or down depending on the quality of raw fish when I get it next time.

If you're a student or just want want cheap sushi, DelSushi is the place for you. Located in the same plaza as Pho La Jolla and Cal Copy, DelSushi is literally just a kitchen with no seating for customers. They primarily serve delivery but you can order take out on the spot as well.

The pricing is also reasonable, with most rolls ranging between $8 and $11. But what I like about this place is that it is open until 2am, which is great if you need a sushi fix while you're cramming for an exam.

Finding this place can be a little challenging because it's located in a very inconspicuous location. If you are standing in the parking lot facing Cal Copy, go to your right and up to the second floor. There is a small wooden staircase that will take you up to the restaurant.

DelSushi is definitely not a first date place but it's fun to come here for the adventure.

I ordered my sushi, received it in 15 minutes and am scarfing it down literally without leaving my couch at all :P

I ordered the Dragon and Spicy Tuna Roll and both were pretty delicious.  But what I'm really loving about this place is that not only does it deliver late-night, but they were able to find my on-campus apartment all the way in the middle-of-nowhere Sixth College without having me come down to search for them. A big plus for someone who is lazy like me.

I will for sure order from them again when I'm craving sushi or being lazy, which is all the time :)

You must try this place (pick up, not delivery) at least once if you're in San Diego, if not for the cheap sushi, then for the experience of feeling like you're walking off to go get kidnapped.

The kitchen (literally, only a kitchen) is located in the plaza right across from UCSD in THE MOST HIDDEN and RANDOM little shack. A friend tricked us and told us it was a normal restaurant but when we went there I thought we were going to be kidnapped and sold into slavery because of the secluded location. Not to mention they only open after 7pm.

That all being said, the sushi tastes great. Slightly better quality than what you would find at one of those super cheap sushi restaurants in the area but around the same price. Never tried delivery, but from what I hear, they're pretty fast. I also got to meet the chefs in person. They're very nice.

Bottom line: Unique sushi experience with slightly above average sushi.

I ordered the firecracker roll, which was really tasty and SPICY, just how I like it.  My friend got miso soup and the rainbow roll, she also liked hers.

If you crave decent sushi at affordable prices late at night, delsushi is the place for you.

some good things about this place is:

-They have an easy to use website where you can order your sushi along with instructions.

    - They deliver late at night free of charge as long as the order is $15 and above and you order between 7pm-2am.

-Their rolls like the lobster, and special are good and priced well

-Each roll is decently sized. .

However their food is not always consistent as sometimes the rice is too soggy and breaks from the sushi and some of their rolls taste very similar like the lobster, the special, dynamite, and baked scallop. But delivery, there are better places you can get more bang for your buck but if you're craving sushi this place is right fo ryou.

I decided to try this place both because of word of mouth and the yelp reviews. You can place your order online starting at 7p.m. before that the website is shut down...sort of. Anyways you place your order and pay and you select your method of getting the food pick up or delivery. Now I have only gotten delivery and it can come anywhere between a half hour after you placed the order and an hour and a half...I guess it depends on how many orders they have. Now the food is good but don't expect high quality sushi from this place. The food is good but its not the best and a lot of their rolls are stuffed with crab meat. The rolls I have gotten were good but the taste depends on how long after you order it you get it. The rolls after a half hour were good the ones that came later were not so good.

YESSSS! This is my new favorite sushi place (okay maybe an exaggeration probably because I had their rolls at 2am during finals week when I was super cracked out).

When it's 2 in the morning and when you are starving but not in the mood for Rigoberto's or McDonald's, this is the place to call for sushi delivery. I never knew that sushi delivery even existed! I've tried their shrimp crunch roll and baked crab/lobster roll. Shrimp crunch roll is very typical. Nothing too special. But baked crab/lobster roll....oh my god. The BEST roll I've ever had! Words cannot express how good it is on yelp unless you try it on your own. Trust...

The prices are not bad, about $9 per roll. But fyi, when you order it online, there's a price limit of $15. Their delivery service was pretty quick. Took about 20 minutes for them to deliver our sushi to Clics (on campus). Yumm I'm craving this right now.

NOW MY FAVORITE SUSHI PLACE IN SD.

considering that sushi is usually expensive and that delsushi is geared towards college students through their comparably low prices plus LATE NIGHT DELIVERIES. now i can eat quality food for a great price without the inconvenience of cooking or traveling to get my food :)

my friends said it took a while (even up to 40 minutes) to get their deliveries during the first week of its opening but when i ordered this week, it only took 25 minutes to get my 4 rolls (i ordered with friends).

the time it takes to make sushi and deliver...in 25 minutes? unbelievable.

the delivery guy was very friendly and when i asked him how it got here so fast, he explained that they are coming up with more strategies to get the food fresher and quicker to those hungry college students. look forward to the improvements! he also said they are hiring so if you need a job look into delsushi!

Sushi has always been one of my anti-drugs because I love love love itt! However, living on campus WITHOUT a car, has left me no choice but be forced to eat crappy dining hall food.

Thanks to delsushi though, that has ALL changed~! :D Around 2am when my roomate and I were starving in our prison-like apartment, we remembered that one week during midterms week when everyone had facebook uploads of amazing pictures of sushi at around 2-3am! So we quickly ordered online, and VOILA in less than 20 minutes, we got a call from the sushi man!!!

Although the whole purpose of not going out to get food was because there was a kidnapping that very night near our apartment and we were too afraid to step out our doors, we were forced to go out and look for the delivery man because he had no idea where our apartment was located :( Thankfully, we made it back safe with the warm lobster roll and dragon roll in our hands, as we made a mad run back to our rooms.

Let's just say that we enjoyed these rolls so much, we ordered them again the next night. hehehe :)

This place opened two days ago and I came to yelp thinking I'd be the first to review.

Actually, 3 people reviewed before me. And they all gave it 5 stars.

I could explain to you why I love it but words are extraneous at this point.

Trust me on this one: get the volcano roll.

    Love,
    Brian

Excellent! Extremely fresh and really good quality fish. i order baked salmon roll ... i was awesome!!~~ , i love order sushi late night time...
it was Very traditional and simplistic sushi. The nigiri sushi 14pcs was absolutely amazing, best I've ever had. Can't wait to order again.. as this is now my favorite neighborhood online sushi bar.
    Thank you DelSushi.....

Tried ordering from Delsushi again and this time the service was really good. They paid attention to the note I had left with the online order and the delivery was really fast this time (around 30 minutes). But the sushi itself isn't really extraordinary -- it's just nice because it's available at such a late hour and so convenient.

By the way, if you're paying with debit or credit card, you need to add tip to the cart separately before checking out when ordering online or tip in cash. I think a lot of people don't know and end up not tipping drivers properly.

I give it props for doing sushi delivery until 4am in the morning!

But their sushi isn't really spectacular. Just something to fill your stomach when you have the late-night munchies.

It's understandable that late night sushi delivery isn't the exact formula for quality rolls and sushi. So I did not have any expectations at all. The food was quickly delivered though which made me happy.

But the food however, even without having any expectations, was not very good. It seemed like the quality was almost the as same as the ones you get from a convenience store. Again, it's late night delivery, so give them a break right?

But I think making the spicy tuna roll the way they did, using an disproportional amount of rice, is inexcusable. They should get at least the basics right. Aside from that though, an OK place.

Screw finals. Nothing can turn your life around when you realized all you did for 10 weeks was ditch class and party until the last minute when that dusty textbook you paid too much for suddenly catches your eye and you remember you're a student. But hey, at least some things can help ease the pain and DelSushi is one of them.

We all know the red bulls and power napping has affected your sleep schedule so its only natural that you're eating at awkward times. DelSushi remedies that by allowing you to have some high-class looking sushi delivered to your door so you can at least continue the party in your mouth.

But seriously though, the sushi was just ok. Nothing amazing but hey its 12:30am and I'm too lazy to cook anything so this is miles better than nothing. Delivery will take a while (yeah yeah they are new I get it) so keep reaching for those cereal bars or chex mix until it gets there to save your poverty stricken and hunger pained college ass from going completely insane.

I must say props for fast delivery. It came in within 20 minutes of ordering it online. In fact, I got my order before I received the order confirmation email!! It would have been a better experience had I not gotten food poisoning.. I ended up throwing everything up. Ordered it at 9:45, got it at 10:07pm, and started throwing up at 3:30am. I would write more but I still don't feel so well right now :/ and it's finals week... bad timing.

I ordered a dragon roll, miso soup, edamame beans, and arizona tea.
