Whistler's Function Junction has some great hidden gems. YYoga, or the shelves of the Re-Use-It Centre, have long been a favourite way to while away an hour, and now, Delish Cafe.

They have been catering for ten years, the cafe has been open for five years, but they were new to me. Delish was recommended by the fine folks at Galileo Coffee Company in Britannia Beach, who supply them with their specialty coffee.

If you've read any of my other reviews, you'll remember that I'm a coffee snob. I don't usually expect much when it comes to espresso based drinks from small cafes in this type of setting. I was hopeful, having been told by the Roastmaster at Galileo that this was the place to go. My macchiato was great. No latte art, no oversized mug, just a delicious macchiato, correct size, great milk temperature, simple presentation. I also had a Britannia Blend, a medium roast blend of Indonesian and African origins.

The service here was great, the girls are friendly and helpful in suggesting things, describing ingredients and flavours, and of course, as it turns out, in making great coffee. The medium and dark roast coffees are done as drip, and a fresh pot of Britannia was right on time for my order. I didn't eat, but the cafe was full of other customers who were, lots of guys from the surrounding businesses on their lunch break. Ladies, I suggest you lunch here. Even the crowd was friendly, striking up conversations, joining our table, and talking to each other in a way that cafes like this seem to foster.

They use natural, local, and organic ingredients when possible, as stated on their website, and it is very well presented. Sandwiches, salads, baked treats, soups, and more. The decor is simple, wooden tables lined up against a full wall of windows, offering seating for about fourteen, while keeping you out of the way of the till. Great use of space in this small cafe. They are just a couple of minutes off the highway, and worth the detour. Thanks Delish for supporting specialty coffee!
