Clearly a place that is known for its martini's can't (and doesn't need to) have great food... right?
Well, my impression was challenged when Ty took me here for a hot date! YEAH baby!
They seated us in a plush velvet booth with curtains that could close. So rad! We ordered the first round of martinis... then the second (they are perfect perfect perfect!) and then the food came GOSH. I was so impressed with the food. It was perfectly executed, deericious and well above my expectations. We skipped dessert because we were so full, but I'd love to come here to try that too!
New slogan for Delilahs: More than just great martini's! ; ) -

Oh, Delilah's. You are like a flamboyant, aging drag queen; one who has never lost her charm or pride.
I love your fun and daring drinks, your nosy but talented bartenders, your slightly cheesy music, your colourful history.
I don't often stop by for dinner, because I find your food just a little boring and a tad overpriced. But you and I get along marvelously over a drink or two, especially on a weekend night, and your bar area is always my seat of choice.
You are located in the perfect part of the perfect neighbourhood, just right for you. Tourists and locals mingle happily here.
I noticed you're under renovations. Another face lift? That's just fine, Delilah, you and I will be friends for as long as I live in the West End. -

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn! We missed the Drag-queens!!
We did enjoy a seriously delightful martini, such that I no longer remember my meal....... The seats were uber comfy, and I didn't slide off after my 2 martinis....Listed in: Our Vancouver/Victoria BC must…

The moment I walked into this institution I knew it was going to be a fantastic evening. There is a buzz in this establishment that will make non martini drinkers want to sit down and enjoy one..or two...or in my case two and a couple bottles of wine.
The most amazing painted ceilings and Chihuly glass sconces adorn the walls. The lighting is just perfect to illuminate the beautiful red banquettes. In fact everyone looks beautiful in this place...especially after a few martinis.
My medallions of pork were cooked to perfection, moist and the perfect amount of pink the way they should be served. Portion size was very generous. My only comment is the pasta starter was a bit daunting and would have been a bit more elegant with less. Sometimes less is more. But the flavor was yummy.
I did however want my Creme Brulée for dessert and they unfortunately ran out as a busy place does from time to time. But without missing a beat they provided us with a dessert cheese platter for the same price.
Daniel certainly made our evening feel great. His staff followed in his footsteps making us feel like we were their only customers when the place was obviously full. The web site boasts "Stay for an hour or stay all night" and we did just that until the lights came up. I will be visiting Vancouver often and Delilah's will be a must stop on my visit.
Daniel you owe me a Creme Brulée.Listed in: Favorite Canadian Haunts

Last night here was a roller coaster of emotions - the service fluctuated between unbearable to exemplary, and the food was very good.
It was a dinner for a "special occasion" and we decided to walk next door with our Groupon in hand to preserve the "stumble factor" post Martinis.
We were seated at a table and not the requested booth! Oh well. The server was just plain lost and nervous that we were in possession of the aforementioned Groupon. 15 minutes in we had no water, no bread, no drinks, no service. Then things started to move - and we ended up with two flights of Martinis instead of one - and we needed some clarification and were told that the extra martini was on the house. YAY
We ordered the Beet Salad and it was alright, but not great, needed some more goat cheese IMO.
The bison sliders were very good, they were braised in some Indian style curry sauce and was very yummy.
The lamb shank with beans was a home run, great cut of shank and excellent comforty beans. The seafood pasta dish was OK - but maybe we should have ordered something else.
All this while the manager came over, maybe sensing the service snafu, and offered us a glass of wine given the "special occasion" - he poured both my GF and I two huge glasses of wine...then topped it off with two comp desert wines with a comp cheesecake slice. The cheesecake was as good as I have had in Vancouver.
So basically we drowned our earlier frustrations with free alcohol and free sugar that made it all worthwhile in the end.
Will be back and update the review. -

I've been to Delilah's twice , both times for Dine Out Vancouver & have had nothing but amazing & friendly service.. Good food & the martini's are superb.
The only thing is that my bf had his dessert which had some fruit on top & they charred the top with a blowtorch, the waiter went back to the kitchen & said "that's how it's supposed to be".. I don't agree that charred is supposed to be a nice taste & he didn't offer any sort of apology - that was the only thing that bugged me.
Otherwise everything was wonderful & fantastic. -

Vancouver's answer to Las Vegas.
Delilah's is one part opium den, one part foodie heaven, one part New York art bar. Pour over ice and stir please, don't shake. It bruises the gin.
When you settle into your crushed red velvet seat, your future hangover seems to recede in the distance. Truly, the French knew what they were doing when, in the 1780s, they invented the restaurant evening. How could there possibly have been civilization before that?
I'm a fan. If I didn't live so damn far away, I'd be there every Friday night. -

Delilah's is currently a live set filming for Conviction Kitchen and we headed here for Girls night with Groupons! It depends if you love to be filmed and recorded during your night out. There would be no getting drunk and hopping on tables this night :)
The girls I was with swear by this place for the martinis! And yes...the Martini flights was good and actually all the martinis I tasted! So I do recommend coming here and getting your fix on drinks!
But if you know me and my reviews, I focus on food/service thats where the 3 stars come in. I disliked my rabbit poutine because no where did anybody warn me it was going to be blue cheese instead of cheese curds. The most interesting dish was the scallops with pea soup/foam. The food wasn't as spectacular as the menu sounded. Our server was nice and friendly but rarely came by our table for us to order more drinks and clear plates. The bill with groupons was a bit of a mess and I was anxious to leave to catch the fireworks but waited a while to get everything sorted out.
Next time I'd eat a full meal and come here just for the Martinis. Hopefully the cameras will be gone by then! -

Delilah's is an experience full stop. Any shortcomings in food , service or anything else should be disregarded like slight flaws in a beautiful handwoven silk tapestry.
This place is for sitting and drinking fine martinis, enjoying the buzz, indulging in off colour repartee with the waiters (who are fabulous) and generally blowing a wad of dough to create a happy moment in your head that you can go back to when everything else slides off the rails.
I have hosted out of town friends here, organized a stag party in one of the private back rooms, and have also been here for dine out nights. Every single time has been a consistently interesting and pleasant experience. The lighter wallet is just the cost of admission. -

I had high expectations for Delilah when I went with my group of 6 this week. We went for dine out Vancouver but 2 of us ordered off their regular 4course dinner menu. I should have gotten the hint from the other reviews that this place is only known for their drinks.
The two of us who had ordered off their regular menu had somewhat okay dinners. Everything was cooked to perfection but the problem was that the majority of the food lacked a lot of flavor, or sometimes simply salt. I had the corn saffron goat cheese soup to start which was quite nice. Then the mussels in chipotle cream sauce which were also good. And I was impressed that they didn't give me a dinky portion of it either. But everyone else's appetizers were quite bland. There was a cinnamon butternut squash terrine that looked really nice and creative, but had no oomph to it. And the red pepper consomme just looked like water that red peppers were boiled in. I would have been disappointed in getting a soup like that.
The mains were quite a bit uninspiring. Most of us had some kine of pasta either chicken or mine was a scallop. It was just in a cream sauce of some sort lacking quite a bit of flavour and salt. It was pretty disappointing. The only dish at our table that was flavourful was the chicken dish with rice and corn and morel mushrooms. It was really nice.
I suppose the main reason I chose to go here was because they had a pretty impressive dessert selection for dine out. I ordered the triple creme brulee which was actually nice: mocha, key lime, and vanilla. It wasn't to eggy or anything. But the key lime didn't actually taste like key lime unless you compared it to the vanilla. The other desserts.. the chocolate soup was essentially like a cold fondue and not very creative at all. But they were definitely creative with the pumpkin mousse cheesecake apple crumble.. it was very elegantly displayed and tasted quite good.
On top of that, they were quite slow with the service. I would expect that the meal shouldn't take more than 2 hours to order and be served everything, but we were there for about 3 hours and I was disappointed in that because there were huge chunks of times when we were just waiting for the next course. Also, when the dessert came, I felt a bit rushed to finish it. I swear the guy came to take my plate 3 times and finally, when i had paused to check my phone and put my spoon down, he just took my plate away without asking if I was finished! And I wasn't...
So I don't think i would ever go to Delilah's again... not for food. Because at that price I would expect more flavour out of it. The quality was there, and things were cooked properly, and sometimes the creativity was there... but food needs to taste good. But maybe the drinks are nice as mentioned below. We didn't actually have any drinks that night. -

Drag queens used to perform here, but those days are gone I guess. *sniff* Delilah's still boasts Vancouver's best martini. I love its ambience, its old-world charm, and the food. We always have fun with the wait staff-they're fun and funny.

My oh my -- Delilah! This is my local watering-hole, with style. The room is easy to miss, as it's located on the side of Denman Place Mall, but once you find it you'll never loose the address. This is the place to get a martini! The wait staff are courteous and happy. The dark room is filled with velvet couches and the candle-light is a throw-back to the 1960's lounge scene. There are great little hidden booths that are separated from the main room and can be closed off with curtains. I recommend the Divine martini with white grape juice. They also offer a very reasonable price-fix menu, I think it's under $25 for three-courses.

"Best Martini's, Amazing Ambiance" Been here several times over decade - always @ bar, never dinner. LUV the tinis - & i think Canada lacks comletely in this area - but not these guys! Sexy & Romantic decor, always a great pour, fantastic place to meet up B4 or after an event. (Now, if they could ever have happy hrs like us in the states, WOW, be cool) Glad we so missed the supposed drag queens previoulsy mentioned, btw!

I am a long term Deliah's customer, but think that it has slipped badly, as my favoirite cocktails, both Lemon Drop and Edsel are not as good as they once were. I will move on to others, flavours, but think this is an overall indicator of where things are heading.
The room is still exquitisite and lovely to dine in, but I don't know about those high top tables that have surrounded the bar, particularly with such a low ceiling. The martini glasses are very run of the mill bar ware and need to better match the surroundings.
OK the food, nothing tremendous here and has had ups and downs over the years. My guests were not foodies and were reasonably happy, but the food was ordinary, with not a single course to rave about. Delilah's has had this problem before the food is just not particularly great. Even the bread was like fancy wonder bread, made up for by delicious spreads.....and so it went.
Service: very good, and attentive. I will be back, sometime, however I no longer recommend it to friends.
