Recently tried the Gold-n-Berg-n-stein and wow, was i blown away! most definitely one of the best sandwiches in the city. So it's corned beef, pastrami, salami, meunster, 1000 island sauce, pickles, and french roll. Simple? Not really, but the flavors go together so well it's making me drool now, 9-10 days later. I will have to make a stop here more often...
BTW the ambiance is nice. Just 8 tables, a record player and nice, friendly service from the employees.
Tips: It'll start getting busy around 1145. Come in early and/or give yourself 20 minutes... it'll be well worth it. Parking is MOSTLY metered unless your lucky enough to park across the street in the 4 un-metered spaces. Bring some quarters. -

YUM.
OK, I've only eaten here once. So take what I say with a grain of salt. BUT YUM.
Being from Indiana, I love Cincinnati-style chili. Even though it's awful for you, let's not kid ourselves. I haven't had it in forever. I came here with some co-worker's for lunch and their specials including Cincinnati-style chili. So, of course, I ignored my health for the afternoon and got it. It was spot on. Delish.
Hats off to you, Deli Board. -

Holy mother of PEARL this place is good. Could be top 10 places I love in SF. The portions are huge. The menu is extensive and the combination are wacky. However you can build any sandwich you like and they will make it to perfection.
This place is a sandwich love heven. It is a true gem for the small population of us. The line can be long but it move very fast. This leads me to the last amazing part of this place. There staff are a bunch of fantastic folks. -

If I had to eat another catered sandwich from Specialties while held hostage in another all-day meeting I swear I was gonna go postal. How dare they put non-foodies in charge of ordering lunch for twenty-plus inmates. As they say, if you want something done right, do it yourself and this was my moment to shine. Looked on-line and figured out what sounded like a delicious line-up of lunchables then placed an order via email.
Responsive? I think Justin might've responded before I even hit send. Not really, but it was lightening quick. And that's how it went down. We ordered a boatload of sammies, some salads, some sides, some cookies, and some Mexican cokes. Freakin' delicious, all of it. Justin told me my order was perfect and suggested that the cole slaw would be great on one of those pastrami sandwiches. That, plus their special sauce was... oh God, mmmmnomnommmm. Pastrami sandwich with coleslaw and sauce and mustard, brisket sandwich with coleslaw and sauce and mustard. I was so happy I almost didn't mind being in that meeting. Almost.
They ask for a 30 minute delivery window and Justin was there with the delivery right smack in the middle (the perfect time), and laid out the spread like a mural. Everyone stopped yapping at me for a while as they savored their lunch, finally getting some good in the middle of a slog of a day. Chances of me ordering again from Deli Board are upwards of 100%. Chances of someone else on my team ordering from previously-unknown-to-them Deli Board in the future run about the same. One of the best sandwiches I've had and I really appreciated that they didn't even ask for a credit card until the food was sitting right in front of me.Listed in: Work: It's Good for Something, The Glory of Meat

Their original location was trippy:
you placed your order with a person standing outside of this building and then waited. no kitchen. no seats. no nothing.
Sufficed to say, I was not a fan the first time around.
I'd plan on returning but then they moved and all this new found attention
(thanks to an article in the Chronicle)
http://insidescoopsf.s...
kinda scared me off.
But I recently got over it, and I gotta say,
this new location may actually make their food tastier:
why? you can sit down (if it's not too crowded) and enjoy the sandwich while it's still hot.
Now, I don't know what their signature sandwich is, but the Boca is pretty bomb.
The combination of corned beef, pastrami, brisket can be a bit much and some flavors can get lost if done improperly, but they know their sandwiches and it turned out to be a really tasty combo.
Are the sandwiches worth the $11?
Sure they are - well, every once in awhile anyways.
Besides, I'm real curious about some of their other sando combos. -

Yes, yes yes! Quite addictive indeed. Try it and you'll be back over and over again. I cannot stop thinking about these sandwiches...

I've been here about a dozen times since I work a block away.. and our office orders from here at least 1x per week. My favorite sandwich is the Lovejoy and fave salad is the Chagrin w/ smoked trout. Everything is always so fresh and yummy!
But it's there service that I love, especially the catering the side. The deliveries always come at the specified window, and usually on the early side of it. 5 stars for Justin for coming through on us last minute! They are absolutely swamped at lunch time and they squeezed in a really important order for us.
Thank you Deli Board! -

San Francisco, CA
I've gotten sandwiches here a few times since moving to the area about 9 months ago but, for some reason, I've been extra obsessed with them lately and have been stopping by at least 3 times a week. I'm almost certain that there is something addictive in the meats they use. I mean, how else do you explain my need to buy 2 sandwiches at a time when I only eat half of a sandwich and keep the rest in the fridge for when the sando craving hits an hour after they close and then again at midnight?? You're probably thinking, "eww, reheated leftover sandwiches?! what an addict." I know, it sounds weird but even microwaved sandos are delicious!
I've tried Boca (when in doubt, start with this one), Zeke, Fatty Matty, and Saracevic (has just the right kick if you want something spicy) and loved them all. You really can't go wrong with any of their sandwiches. At about $10 each, they seem kind of pricy for sandwiches but that hasn't stopped me yet!
Insider Tip: they have opened a sister store called 1058 Hoagies (http://1058hoagie.deli...) to satisfy your cold sandwich needs. Be sure to check it out! -
Review from Stine H.
Premium deluxe specialty hot sandwiches! I love their house made pickles, but lately they've been jipping me! Used to give us tons of pickles...now it's like 2 slices per sandwich.
Place gets really packed during lunch. Not much room for dining in, but that's ok because we usually order to-go anyway. They have daily specials for sandwiches and soups and other random goodies. I have yet to try their soup, but the sandwich itself is already a meal for days.
I usually get sandwiches with turkey or chicken or the zeke, which has bacon, sprouts, cheese and avocado in it I believe. I don't know, but topped with their hot sauce this sandwich is pretty good.
On the down side though, these bad boys will surely put you in a food coma! Productivity levels at work after lunch at deli board = -40%. -

Who the fuck mixes chicken salad and salami with cherry peppers? The dude that runs this place, and he don't give a fuck.
Tried the LRB, Goldnbergnstein and the Cohen. If anything could make me want to live in SF it's the food and Deli Board is killing. -

Been wanting to go here for a while. Damn it i am so glad i did and not haha...Their BOCA is so damn good i cant even speak after my first bite and im not a pickle fan but there shit is on hit nah i meean.
I dont want to sound mushy and all but this is a very cute place arrived there before they opened and already i see two older couple waiting for the door to open like myself. Older meaning they are in the 60s atleast and i can tell this is what they do often nice to see.
I really cant descrie the taste all i can say is its amaxing their mustard and habanero sausce all great stuff. I just hate the fact that i have to cross the bridge for this sando and i know i will do it plenty mo times.
Sando worthy of WESTCOAST THUGLIFE for sure. -

The service is always the same, good, and the girls at the counter are so CUTE!

This is the first real competition to Miller's East Coast West. A close second, but still not beating the "King" on Polk Street.
Not a bad little hang in SOMA - the cutie pie waitstaff girls were borderline Hefner, so that was clearly part of the strategy: serve giant meat-filled sandwiches to hipsters, and add a little butt wiggle to boot. The ladies even had the Dirty Dancing soundtrack playing on vinyl in the background - dancing behind the counter while ringing up pounds corned beef. Nice one.
I enjoyed the vibe, loved the sandwich options - and would recommend it, jiggly bits and all. -

I am thrilled to write these words. San Francisco finally has a good pastrami source. Of course I have been to the other places, I will not mention names. However, their meat has never risen to the level of Deli Board. The pastrami at Deli Board has it all. Great taste, correct amount of fat, served hot, thin sliced and large portions of meat in the sandwich. They even have the only correct pickle served anywhere. Its in the details, as always.

I have never been a big sandwich person but visited this place with my husband and I am so glad I did. Wow. WOW.
I am kinda addicted now.
The dutch crunch bread. Amazing.
The amount of meat they put on the sandwiches? Obscene. I have to squish the sandwich down just to be able to take a bite.
The secret "Deli Board" sauce? Addicting.
The homemade pickles? More please!
They are usually pretty busy so try to avoid the 12-1 lunch hour rush but if there is a line it is worth it. You may want to walk though. I can't imagine the sandwiches are in anyway shape or form healthy (well, maybe because I get bacon, cheese and board sauce on mine...)
They are kinda pricey and I wish they had some sort of "frequent dinner program" but the quality (and amount of meet on the sandwich!) justify the price. The staff is also very very very very nice.
Go there. Now. -
Review from Erin S.
Here's some advice when you visit Deli Board: come hungry, and come prepared to dine in. You won't want to take this deliciously warm, gooey sandwich any further than the front door without devouring it.
I finally made the trek over here the other day when I was craving a good Reuben. They have a few different varieties, so I tried one of the specials of the day, the a.stud. It consisted of pastrami, garlic french bread, jalapenos, cheddar cheese, cole slaw, avocado, & board sauce. Wow! Just reading the description made my mouth water.
I ordered & sat down. In less than 10 minutes my sammie was brought out to me with a little baggie with 2 thick pickle slices. I love pickles! And these suckers are house made which makes them even better.
Imagine a philly cheese steak, but made with toasted garlic bread & filled with all the goodies I listed above. It was heavenly. Move over, Cheese Steak Shop! Deli Board is my new fave sandwich shop.Listed in: SOMA lunch spots, Sammies

Great catering! Now I just have to get my behind down there to get my own sammich without having to share a tray that's cooled down to the point where you can't enjoy the full effect of this much talked about Deli Board! Problem is out of order the trio of the Basic Board #2 & the trio of the Bubees Board what do I make my final decision on?!?!? I'm torn between their corned beef & chicken salad sandwiches. I have to say, the dressing that they delivered to us with our Shanghai Chicken Salad is beyond EXCELLENT! I definitely hoarded the bottle to myself & used it after the meeting in fact *SHHHHH* I worked with Adam from beginning to end on my order. He was kind enough to respond with a quickness and reassured me everything was going to be handled without a hiccup. He totally guaranteed & proved that. Delivery, quality of eats & service. = Perfection. Thanks again Adam!

This place had some some pretty tasty sandwiches. I had the Zeke sandwich, which was pretty tasty. The fresh bread is pretty good! The prices are a bit pricy, in my opinion, but the portions are large. I think it would be better if they had a half sandwich option, for a cheaper price, especially for those who are visiting just as my friends and I were. The atmosphere was decent. It's a relatively small place, but there are plenty of little tables. The customer services was great! I gave this place 4 stars for two reasons:
1. the prices are a bit high
2. they put too much mayo/cream cheese on their sandwiches, which distracts from the flavor of what else is in the sandwich.
I wasn't a fan of their homemade pickles, but my friends loved them. Overall, the place was good. -

It doesn't help some asshole French fuck ashed his cigarette right onto the sleeve of my favorite jacket and then had the audacity to blame it on me for not watching where I was walking. REALLY? AM I SUPPOSED TO BE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE ASHING THEIR CIGARETTE EVERY TIME I CASUALLY WALK DOWN THE STREET. REALLY?! WHY AREN'T YOU WATCHING WHERE YOU PUT YOUR CIGARETTE?! I WAS ONLY RIGHT NEXT TO YOU. SHOULDN'T YOU BE THE ONE MORE SPATIALLY AWARE? /rant
Anyways, I came here with a friend on his lunch break on a super sunny Thursday. This place was packed. I hated all their vegetarian options. Seriously they were terrible. I got a falafel sandwich. The bread was awesome. Everything else was not. I fucking love sandwiches too. Service is really nice. I heard them mess up a bunch of orders and they apologized tenfold to the customers. The food comes out crazyyyy slow. Its pretty easy to find a seat despite how packed it is because most people just order to-go. Probably because by the time their order is ready their lunch break is already over HEYOOOO. -

Oh Deli Board, how I long for thee. These sandwiches are GOOD and well worth the wait, so if you see a line don't be deterred. Just be patient. Wait.
The salads, although alright do not compare to the warmed goodness of a decent loaf of bread covering your meaty insides with deliciousness. This hip trendy spot will never go out of style.
And they deliver too! On bikes! So order ahead. -
Review from Jenn B.
My darling, thoughtful boyfriend had a Zeke delivered to me at school today after my lunch plans fell through. It has turkey, avocado, cream cheese, bacon, sprouts, and pickled onions, all served on a sweet french roll. At $10.85, this is the same price point as Ike's. I like both DB and Ike's, so I'm not going to declare my preference for one over the other. I did like this sandwich. The portions of each ingredient were very generous. A ton of turkey, maybe half a tub of cream cheese, an entire avocado, and four slices of bacon were in my sandwich...at least that's how it tasted.
I actually had a bite of the boca last night. I think it was better than the Zeke, but definitely not as healthy. -
Review from Frank J.
Is there a better place in San Francisco to get a hot sandwich? I can't imagine there is. If you have not been to Deli Board it is a must that you try it. They have a set menu on the wall and a few specials that change daily. You will definitely find something to your liking. I devoured my Boca sandwich and had a taste of both sandwiches the ladies had. Loved every bite!
This is my new go-to place for a great sandwich for lunch.

Deli Board,
Your Boca sammich is the best sammich I have ever had in my whole sammich life.
I don't know if its the fresh bread you bake onsite, the amazing seasoning on the meat, or the fresh and crunchy pickles mixed with the super hot melty cheese, but this place puts all other sammiches to shame.
Shame on you, other sammiches, for not being as good as deli board sammiches. -
Review from Kayla V.
Better than SF's beloved Ike's! The new location is nice and hip, but I really miss the old place. Something about that gated doorway and waiting/ordering my sandwich on the side of the street made it feel exclusive and cool. Like a secret hidden gem nobody knew about, except me.
New fancy location = higher price. You would think that with more customers and sales that they could keep the sandwich under $10 bucks. Deducting 1 golden star for this alone.
The newer staff seemed a bit on edge to me...not as friendly as before. Sigh....
I always get a little nervous when my favorite eateries expand. Something always suffers. Whether it be the service, price, or food. Luckily for all of us, the sandwiches are still amazing! The pastrami meat is so incredible.....melt in your mouth kind of wonderful. I always order the Mikey and most of the time I'm able to get It :) its not always on the menu.
Mmmmm...mouth watering.... -

*** After just one visit, me likes. Original. ***
I stumbled upon this little neighborhood deli
purely by accident. It is a serendipitous find.
Cashier was pulling out an EW&F vinyl album
when I arrived. Wah, they gotta record player?
(+1 star for creative style.)
Even though the meaty sandwich selection
is great, I opted to get chicken tortilla soup
and a falafel sandwich for my Caltrain ride.
Both were filled w/ fresh healthy ingredients.
I was pleased but I prefer tastier seasonings.
Both were rather bland. I'd do meat next time.
(+3 stars for veggie selections.)
*** I would def frequent here if I lived nearby. *** -
Review from Rahil P.
I just move back to SF recently and this was my first new ventures. I found it by searching for nearby restaurants on the 7x7 Big Eat 2012 List.
Description of the Munsoned:
Shavings of smoked brisket, white American cheese, pepperoncini, Thousand Island, and brown mustard on their signature sweet French roll (a refreshing sweet, spongy change in a city that loves its rustic, Acme bread and toasts everything)
Yessss. And it was amazing. Fresh meat and bread that melts in your mouth. The sweetness of the bread and pepperoncins create an interesting contrast to the savory meat. I wish I had substituted the cheese for something better as I dislike American cheese. The cheese tries to make it feel like a cheap Philly cheese-steak, but gladly the other ingredients made up for it. A single sandwich should serve two. The sandwich reminded me of something from Ike's. It's been a while, but I believe I had a much better experience here.
The customer service is great too. Helpful, social, you know, the traits that people in SF are known for.
Their menu changes daily. Check it out at http://www.deliboardsf.... It all sounds delicious to me.
Eating here felt as if the City had graciously welcomed me back. -
Review from Alice C.
What's going on with all these overhyped sandwich places?!
Go ahead, hate me, but it is okay. I think I've lost patient for places like this. Don't get me wrong, the sandwich is pretty good, the meat are well done, but there are plenty of other delicious places in the city that I don't feel like I need to bend over backwards for this.
First, the people work there need to have some coffee so that they can keep their eyes open; second, the long line is really long because the staffs are not all that fast. Third, it is lunch place, not a brunch place. I can't devote the entire hour of my lunch looking for parking; waiting in line to order; waiting in line for the making of the sandwich.
For god's sake, it is a sandwich, given it is your fancy smancy artisian crafted sandwich, but don't tell me it take 5 min to put the muster on.
After $15, 30 mins of standing around, I am done working so hard for a sandwich that I simply wanted to fill my stomach during lunch.
Although I won't oppose just picking up some deli meat here by the pound. -
Review from Susy C.
Dang man. I rode the bus and had a very interesting trek from work to get here.
I studied photos before coming and these sandwiches looked monstrously huge.
They're not actually that big in length but they've got GIRTH puahahhaha. They are PACKED with meat
You know what else? It's the motion of the ocean and these sandwiches have got it going on!
I know $11 seems pricey for a sandwich (I had the Boca) but damn. What you're really paying for is the meat. Each piece of meat, each bite... so juicy, succulent, and flavorful!
In the family of sandwiches, Deli Board would Ike's' guido juicehead cousin and I am all good with that.
They have Dutch Crunch bread which is definitely works in their favor. The crunch of the bread is like... DAMN with that amazing meat. -
Review from Bert N.
My coworkers and I end up here at least once a week for lunch. Love this place. I usually get the Zeke when I want something a little "fresher" tasting. The Zeke has turkey breast, cream cheese, avocado, among a variety of other ingredients. If I am lucky enough I'll split halves with a friend for a Boca.
Do try their sauces. The Haba haba is pretty good. The Thai Chili sauce is ridiculously spicy and I LOVE SPICY. -
Review from Rose A.
I was excited to finally try a sandwich from Deli Board after hearing a friend rave about it. Unfortunately, I didn't completely agree with her. Although the sandwich I had (munsoned) was good, it wasn't that great. The sandwich was a tad bit dry. My husband said his sandwich was dry as well (he had the mish).
Too bad...I was really excited about this place... -
Review from Lester W.
Minus a star for:
1. Not delivering anymore unless you order 10+ sandwiches (24 hours in advance)
2. Increasing sandwich prices by 22% (used to be $9...now they are $11).
3. Sandwiches appear to have gotten smaller.
They still make great sandwiches but due to the reasons above, I may think twice before going again.Listed in: Favorite Sandwich Shops

By far the most average $11 sandwich I've ever eaten.

Way too hipster for me.
But I mean that somewhat lovingly, as the servers were so happy and pretty friendly.
I got the maeday (grilled squash & zucchini, goat cheese spread, sprouts, pepperoncini blend, organic greens, pickled red onion, Board sauce, dutch crunch) and found it was lacking substance... meat would've helped, but I do love vegetarian sandwiches and think this could've used avocado or more vegetables or something.
Overpriced, otherwise I'd be willing to give it another shot. -

Wow, really? Even day old subs taste amazing! Just finished devouring half a day-old Fatty Matty (albacore tuna salad, falafel, muenster, hummus, pickled onion, sprouts, Board sauce, sweet french roll) that was left up for grabs from a work training luncheon. Didn't think it would still taste amazing, but it did. (I put it in the toaster oven first, then microwaved it for 20 seconds...oh and I added some Siracha sauce for a kick)
The perks of work training lunches. I originally had my first sub from Deli Board last week and went for the Zeke (turkey breast, avocado, bacon, cream cheese, pickled onion, sprouts, mayo, sweet french roll) since I am not a big fan of the red meat options. Pretty darn tasty if you ask me. Have already recommended it to peeps and hope I can hit it up again in the near future.
Even though I didn't pay for the sandwiches, I think they are worth the $10 a pop. -

LOVE the sandwiches and pickles. I went for lunch. The sandwiches (I had the Mezman/pastrami and tried the Saracevic/corned beef and brisket) are pretty filling so I saved half for dinner. I'm actually eating it right now!
