    MM!

One of the best steaks i've ever had. Awesome filet mignon. Great view of the harbor (? not a local.. idk). Nice area to walk about before/after.

Great location with nice harbor view.  That's the highlight.  Menu is not very inventive and tbh steak just wasn't the high end beef I expected.

Ribeye seemed too tender and just not as good as the ones my son cooks on our BBQ at home (and those are $15-20 at Roche Bros vs $40-55 here).

Sides were standard if not smaller than expected.

Service is attentive, but they crowded so many tables into this long, somewhat narrow dining room that it just wasn't very comfortable sitting in there.  Place was full and very loud.

Not sure how I missed this, but they charge $4 for every 10 ounce refill of coke.  My children put $40 on the bill which I didn't appreciate when spending $350 for dinner before the tip.

Final fun fact - I had spent about a $1,000 in gift certificates to this place over last 3 months for clients.  Not sure why I did that as had never been there.  Thought it was a neat name different/new from Mortons or Capital Grille.  My mistake...

Took my girlfriend here this past week for a nice night out since everyone claims Del Frisco's is the "Best Restaurant Around." We made reservations but upon arrival, were told to go wait by the bar for our table. No problem, we ordered some drinks and chatted by the beautiful view of the harbor. But after 15 minutes, I looked around and there weren't even any tables taken. When I asked the hostess about the status of our table, she told me she had forgotten all about it and apologized. Things happen, oh well.

I ordered the crab cake which was absolutely divine and cooked to perfection. Ordered another round of margaritas and I had a fly in mine.....this is fine dining? Onto the main course where I chose the lamb which was very tasty and my girl ordered the beef medallions which were also a hit for us. The side of lobster mac and cheese was unbelievable, I highly recommend it!

My only other issue with this place is the waitresses dress like bottle service girls at a club. Is this a classy restaurant or where guys come to hit on waitresses after work? Just a very odd scene with 40 year old women wearing mini skirts....no thank you.

One of my friends recommended this place.  He said it was the best steak he had ever had but the service was not good.  After going to eat here I almost agree with him 100%.

First let's talk about the food.  I think they either have to be more detailing on there menu or they should warn people of exactly what's in the food/used as seasoning.  I ordered, I can't even remember, I think it was like steak medallions or something.  The menu listed a demi glaze sauce and that's basically it.   Sadly I could barely eat my dinner because the black pepper crust was just overwhelming.  Yes, I could have asked when I ordered but I do not believe I should have to.   My bf ordered the special they had, a trio of filet mignon's with different sauces.  For the price they charged for this dish....SO not worth it.  Everyone has had filet mignon before but for what they charged it should have tasted a whole lot better.

The food wasn't all bad.  For dessert we ordered the chocolate molten cake or something and it was really, really good.  It didn't' make up for the under whelming entrees we had but it was nice to end the meal with it.

Second, let's talk about the service.   It was not very good.  They started off strong but after we ordered they were no where to be found.   I used to be a server so I understand when you get busy but our server literally walked by our table 6 times before stopping.   Oh, sorry forgot to add that we had been finished, dinnerware on the plate and pushed forward all 6 times he walked by.  So you would have thought he might have noticed we were done by the 3rd pass?  He would have been in the clear had he said at any of those passes 'I'll be right there' but he never did.

So sadly, this place was a disappointment.  We didn't even get seated in the dining area that had the view of the water.  Ok steak but overpriced and bad service will not be getting my business again.

The food, service and atmosphere are FANTASTIC.  Chef Derek is amazing, I think I want to marry him.  The happy hour crowd is pretty nice also. I still can not believe that Del Frisco's Boston has only been open for a little over a year! The baby of the Del Frisco's Steakhouses, it is living up to the high double eagle standards.  This location is part of the hot scene of Boston and they are always hosting events and tastings.  The next tasting is a Glenlivet Scotch Dinner on May 16th.  You do not want to miss it!

I'll preface my review by admitting that I'm a fuddy-duddy, an occasionally old-before-my-time man and - fortunately - not without a sense of humor.  I'm particular in such a way that I have high hopes and low expectations; it's a tried and true formula for enjoying life. In this particular case, having enjoyed Del Friscos.

The good: swank, stylish, sophisticated.  It rivals the upscale-ness of New York.

The not-so good: this place is akin to a nightclub for aging hipsters - ranging from dashing daddies clad in their $2000.00 Brioni sport coats and silk pocket squares (sporting a babe the same as he would a pair of gold cuffliks) to the Steve Jobs of the world (think I.T. geek who just sold his company for a billion).  Ladies, if you're looking to become wife number 3, 4 or 5, head up the stairs and to the left (the bar).

It's jam packed with beautiful people and tables so close, you'd be sure to overhear the latest gossip - that is if you could decipher any discernible sound over the din of what is a very, very busy restaurant.  Despite dishes priced at 40+ bucks it's like they're giving it away.

The hostesses and waitresses are beautiful.  I will say, they're polite, accommodating and well versed in the art of hospitality.  The waiters do a pretty good job too; although having to shout the menu detracts from this author's overall dining experience.  Hey, I was a waiter once too - it's hard work and I"m not going to knock this guy.  Though I guess I'd have preferred a slightly more formal approach.  (This is where perhaps most readers will think I'm a snob.  Get over it.  I am.)  After all, it's not the 99 restaurant and at these prices, we were at a business dinner where we had hoped to show off our good manners in front of our VP from NYC.

The food - very, very good.  Excellent sized portions (on the larger side) and marvelously prepared.  Gotta take away a few points for 1 person's incorrect order and placing the incorrect dish in front of me.  Granted, he was apologetic, but again - this is Del Friscos - not Unos.  I'm paying for the show as well.

Romantic: perhaps not.  It is certainly better if you're up for for full contact dining.   Noisy: yes.  All this being said, I'd certainly go back - with the appreciation for what this place is - swank, expensive, bustling and loud.  I thought perhaps (in part due to the pricing) it would be more akin to L'espalier.  It's equally as swank but most likely appeals to a different sort of people.  If you're beautiful and know it, clap your hands - and then head over to Del Friscos.  Everyone there wants to see you, seeing them, eating.   and talking.  Loudly.

Enjoyed a wonderful post-graduation meal at DelFrisco's. The waitstaff, lead by Joseph, could not have been more accommodating or attentive. They asked if we were in any type of hurry and proceeded with an enjoyably paced meal since we were not. The food was outstanding from the  appetizers to the steaks and seafood, to the seven layer lemon cake. We ordered a whole cake in advance for our large table and it was delivered to the graduate with a candle that matched his school colors. There were only compliments from the whole group, one of whom works right in the area and holds company functions at the restaurant. Thank you for a job well done!

So I must say I was disappointed with the Boston edition of DelFrisco's.  I have been to the  NY venue and that is what I expected here in Boston!  They are expensive and we do not believe we got what we paid for!

We ordered their signature double eagle steak.  The meat literally came out cold and they brought it back to the kitchen and it returned well done. I am a steak lover and will usually request med rare! What more can I say!

I sent it back and just ate my sides. They offered a desert on the house for their faux pas... hmm, What a way to impress me!

The service is below average for a high end steak house. The servers were not seasoned and not comfortable with impressing their clientele.  I think they are expecting the Jerry Remy's type customer which is located adjacent to this establishment. They have a beautiful location, I wish they would take their game up a couple of notches!  I am using Grill 23, Abe and Louie's and Smith and Wollensky's as my benchmark. Other steak house's I will frequent.

Impeccable service by very well trained sales-centric service team.  Upsell upsell upsell!  Wine list was enormous and extremely expensive. We felt as though the typical patron would order a single bottle of wine for just under $200.  I felt I was being cheap by ordering a $100 bottle of wine. Times are changing apparently.

Del Frisco's is a beautiful restaurant and is clearly the place you want to go to impress.  Appetizers of Shanghai calamari and oysters on the half shell  were exceptionally prepared and very tasty.  I loved that the oysters were accompanied by old school Saltine crackers.

Steaks were top notch.  The much hyped "chateau potatoes" were a bit of a disappointment.  The cream spinach was very very fresh and quite tasty.

We'll definitely go back for a special occasion; sooner if we hit the lottery...

I went out with a group of 8 to celebrate a friend's promotion and he chose Del Frisco's. I was very excited for a steak dinner - I hadn't been to a steakhouse in what seemed like forever.

The food was delicious. We started with the calamari, which was very spicy and had a Thai flavor combination, which I loved. We also had the tuna tartare, which was delicious. The downside of the appetizers was that we hadn't finished the tuna before our meals came and they just cleared everything without asking if we were done. Very wasteful, in my opinion!

For dinner, we all had steaks. I had the 8oz filet, which was delicious and cooked exactly right. The people who had the ribeye raved about it. For sides, we had crab gnocchi, potatoes au gratin, and the broccoli. All the sides were fantastic, as well. Although, I'm pretty sure you can't mess up cheesey potatoes! I did find the sauce on the broccoli very interesting, in a good way.

The banana bread pudding was perfect. Crunchy on the outside and perfectly cooked inside. Delicious.

    The view is fantastic.

All in all, the food was great, albeit very expensive.

Now to the not so great part...

It's crowded. Very crowded. And VERY loud. Seems like a great place for a work function dinner, where you are okay talking to person next to you, but not the whole table. I wouldn't go here on a date - unless maybe sitting at the bar for drinks. I found the service to be spotty. Some other waiter had to come over to read us the specials, since ours was busy doing something else. It's also slightly odd that they come around and dish up the sides on your plate, rather than just letting you decide how much you want, etc. I found this to be unnecessary.

I also found the general attitude of the waistaff a little ambivalent. When we first arrived, my friend and I were late and told the hostess and manager (I think) the name the reservation was under. He couldn't find who we were with in the seating chart (to his defense, I didn't have the person's last name) and he was then interrupted by a waitress who told him he needed to go talk to a group who's been waiting for their food for 45 mins (in front of us?), so he told us to just go walk around looking for them. I'm totally okay with that, but was pretty amused by the lack of effort he put in. Also, they decided to do some cleaning and furniture moving right around us while we were eating (windexing the windows, moving tables), which seemed like something that could have waited until the place was a bit quieter.

Overall, the food was great, but the scene and attitude just wasn't for me. If I'm going to go out for a very expensive night for a special occasion, I'd prefer one of the less "amped up" (as another yelper put it) atmosphere.

This place is beautiful and classy. If you're trying to impress someone, take them here. The atmosphere is way above Abe & Louie's or Ruth Chris' for steak. The outdoor seating is awesome in the summer with the glass wind cover that comes up on the side of the railing.

I've been here twice for lunch and had a great experience both times. The service is impeccable here! When they serve your steak they ask that you cut into the steak to make sure that they cooked the steak correctly to your liking. I absoltely LOVE that they do that because sooo many restaurants over-cook my steak. They also remind you with a brief description of how the steak will turn out when you tell them how you want your steak cooked.

I love the appetizers here. The Shanghai Style Fried Calamari is amazing! It's very flavorful and a tad sweet. The Crab Cakes were really good as well. These two were my favorite appetizers here. The only one that wasn't as good was the Tuna Tartare.

I had the Steak Medallions which were extremely tender, perfectly cooked and delicious.

The Cheesecake is BOMB here. It's a huge piece so consider sharing with a friend! It's a really well blended but light cheesecake. I think it's better than the original flavor at The Cheesecake Factory.

I'll definitely be back with friends. Perhaps try their dinner menu and come here in the summer time to take advantage of their amazing outdoor seating.

I decided to have a business meeting / lunch and I was not at all impressed with the food.  I ordered the burger with a side salad and a cup of the clam chowder. The chowder was not overly thick, it was delicious.  The burger was not good at all. I honestly felt like I could have had a better burger. The back bay social club serves amazing burgers and I believed that this location woukd serve me a comparable burger. The choice of meat was poor and it was overly salty as if attempting to mask something.  My friend ordered the steak sandwitch which he only ate half, as well as the seafood soup and a salad. I did sneak a taste of the fries and they were tasty.

All in all I was disappointed in the quality of the food.  I wanted to love the place but I did not.  The ambiance was fabulous and the waiter was pleasant as well.  No complaints on how they treated us. Maybe this was an off day so I wont count them out yet as a great location with great food.  To be continued at some point....

We absolutely love DelFriscos -- we live right in the neighborhood and eat there frequently.  The food is delicious and perfectly prepared -- you cannot beat the steak, lobster, fresh fish and burgers. The Shanghai calamari appetizer is to die for and the crabcakes will melt in your mouth.  The cocktails are perfectly mixed and always made with fresh fruit and top-shelf liquor.  Try the VIP cocktail -- fresh pineapple infused vodka.   DelFriscos serves lunch on the weekdays and we usually get one of the chopped salads, which are always huge, fresh and tasty.  The service is always ultra professional, fast, warm and friendly.  This is a great place for a special occasion dinner, after-work cocktails on the water or a nice lunchy.

Morton's will always be my benchmark for five star steak joints in Boston. The rest seem to offer great eats but also have a bit too much flash- a place to be 'seen' while eating your steak.

That said, Del Frisco's is now my number two spot. Having been built in the relatively newly established Seaport District the restaurant is purpose built offering an excellent layout, healthy space between tables and good acoustics- allowing for a personal dining experience with your friends while still being able to enjoy the surroundings. The view can't be beat too!

My NY Strip steak was cooked perfectly, with my requested au poivre finish and the scalloped potatoes were amazing. Oysters on the half shell were also prepared well- having been FULLY cut away from the shell allowing for them to be eaten the proper way... as the first real 'slider.'

    Definitely worth a visit.

We were there for a late lunch. Service was ok but the steaks were very overcooked. This was after the server telling us how careful they are to cook them exactly how you want them. They arrived well done after having requested them medium rare. Since we were strapped for time we did not send them back. At a total cost of about $100 for lunch special with one apetizer and two soft drinks this place did not impress us at all.
Manager said she would follow up and asked for phone # and time to call but never did. With so many other new restaurants at the Waterfront area it is hard to recommend this one to anyone. We have been to Legal Harborside three times already where they provide great service - decent food. Too bad Delfriscos is putting out such a poor product in their Boston outpost.

I have been to the Del Frisco's in Fort Worth Texas many times.  And, it has been a while!  We went for Easter lunch and could not have been happier.

The restaurant -over looks Boston Harbor and has a beautiful outdoor eating area.  I only wish it was warm enough for us to have eaten outside!  This place is flawless.  Beautiful.  Enough said.

The service - could not have been better!  Our server and the accompanying staff were terrific.  I have not one complaint or suggestion to make things better.

The food - Amazing!  We had fried oysters and the calamari - Shanghai style for appetizers.  They are both so amazing.  The calamari was truly some of the best calamari I have had - and I have had a LOT of calamari!  It sounds odd, but it had green onions, bean sprouts with an amazing sauce.  You gotta try this stuff!  For our entrée's we all had steak - of course!  This was some seriously good beef!  I know I have been out of Texas for many years!  But, this makes me miss some of that good Texas beef.  I can't remember ever having a better strip steak - ever!  The others had a beautiful filet and a massive Ribeye.  All of us were very happy with our choices.  Sides... Del Frisco's is one of the only places that I don't complain about having to order various sides.  The potatoes au gratin were some tasty... cheesy... goodness.  We also had a side of King Crab Gnocchi - Good God!  And then the Spinach Supreme - creamy goodness with bacon too!  I'm full just thinking about this meal again.

Not only will I go back to this place soon... I can't wait to go back!

I came here for a large group dinner that was held in a private room. The service staff was on point. They were always available without giving that strange feeling as though they were lurking. This is a hard balance but they really got it right.

Because of this group dinner, we were selecting from a limited menu, which made ordering time relatively easy. The food was definitely good but not amazing. I would say that this may have had something to do with the limited selections, but I actually was able to order filet mignon, which I always order at steakhouses, so there wouldn't be much change if selecting from the full menu for me. My steak was overcooked, but the waiter quickly took it back and had a new one bought out. In general, The food didn't wow me, but it was good and the service was great. One example of the great service was when our dinner was finally served, one of the more than 30 plates was delayed. Rather than have everyone wait to eat so as not to appear rude, the staff bought a crab cake out for the person whose food was not ready. In the grand scheme of things for. Group this size, giving away 1 crab cake is pretty inconsequential, but it certainly leaves a good taste in your mouth- literally and figuratively (the crab cake was actually better than the hikes once it arrived).

The view of the waterfront is also really nice from here and it has a great proximity to the convention center making it nice after a day of meetings.

This is a national chain restaurant. You can't really go wrong with it. The service bumped it up to a 4 for me as I may have gone with a 3 for food.

I went here after the Boston Marathon because it was the only place without a wait.  The oysters that we ordered tasted amazing! The steak my boyfriend got was cooked perfectly, and I thoroughly enjoyed the blue cheese salad wedge.  The price tag on everything was a little shocking, but the amazing water front view made up for it!

After much hype and excitement we finally decided to visit Del Frisco (back in December) . Besides the strange reservation attitude (claimed to be sold out on a Saturday evening two weeks in advance (for a group of 4) and calling back just 4 days later had no problem getting a reservation. However despite us having a reservation they managed to "loose" the reservation upon on our arrival).
After a while of back and forth we got seated but only in a side room which normally might be used for functions (had a big sports screen TV and another large table in it, didn't feel very welcoming to start with ). I'd recommend to move on and look for another place if you're not seated in the main dining room.

The views from the main dining room are great and probably the best feature of the restaurant.

The menu is ok but not outstanding inventive, the usual fare for mains and sides. But for example no steak tartar on the menu (one of my benchmarks for a great steak house).
The wine list is so so , nothing to brag about. I was hoping for some more interesting reds given the place is trying to be a high end steak house.

The food also got mixed reviews. The mains/starters where just ok, The sides are ok and the best dish of the night have been the macaroni and cheese.

To close the evening it took the valet folks over 40 minutes to "find" our car (and they are only parked around the block).

So overall I probably won't rush back any time soon as there are plenty of good steak places around which provide a much better dining experience at the same price
(Abe and Louis, Grill 23, Smith & Wollinsky, Ruth Chris, etc)

It's a shame given the location and buzz around this place.
So maybe over time things get straightened out and we will certainly give it another try.

    Let's see where to begin...

Location is prime, a little out of the way for most Bostonians who aren't willing to walk a little bit but once there, it's a nice location in the newly renovated and developed Seaport district.   It is a fairly swanky location with a fairly gaudy interior, which is a break from your traditional dark wood, masculine setting of Boston's steakhouses.

Now the food... sides, are NOTHING to write home about.  We had a party of 8 and ordered a whole mess of sides.  Honestly, it is delicious food but for what you are paying it leaves a sour taste in the mouth. Lobster Mac N Cheese was more cheese than lobster, which is typical of restaurants who love to skimp on the highlight ingredient that catches your eye on the menu.

The meat.... again, very high quality meat but if you're used to S+W's or Grill 33 expect to tack 10-15 dollars for every steak on the menu.  Which is slightly annoying considering the meat is no different than any other top tier steakhouse in the city.

Just expect to be raked over the coal... save yourself the trouble of getting here and instead go to Smith and Wollensky's.

Due to a lost reservation we were not seated in the main dining room, but rather a back function room. This was very disappointing as the atmosphere and views from the main dining room were a factor in our choosing this restaurant.  Yet,  we decided that we would stay and enjoy the food. Which I heard was very good.
I have to say that our meals were fine. Typical steak house fare with no surprises or wow factor. The lobster macaroni & cheese was very good and my steak was cooked properly. The asparagus was undercooked. Overall, it was just an average meal. I guess I was expecting more.
The troubling part of the night was after a disappointing experience in the restaurant we had to wait over 40 minutes in the entry way for the valet to locate our car. The valet did apologize for the mix-up.

The food is mixed. Sometimes, it's as good as Abe and Louies and sometimes it's not great . If it weren't for the location, it would not be so popular. Had numerous business dinners there and it's ok, but much prefer t he food at the other steakhouses like AL & Grill 23.

I went here for dinner last week and I have to say it was one of the best experiences I have ever had at a restaurant.  The server was very attentive and the sommelier was extremely knowledgable about their wine list, which is quite extensive.  The lobster mac and cheese was a highlight of the evening.

One thing I particularly enjoyed was the relatively casual atmosphere I felt.  The staff was cheerful and friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs.  Also, the view of the harbor was amazing, despite the weather not being so great.

This is a high end steakhouse and the prices absolutely reflect this. Which is why I went on expense account. It's on the 2nd level with a street entrance. The restaurant is larger than one would think and has some outdoor space which should be great when it's warm out. As for the bar, your typical client base of men with a few women sprinkled throughout for good measure.

I started with a beer (like the selection) and then went onto wine. The wine menu has a good selection of some bottles I don't often find out.

If there are fried oysters on a menu, I almost always order them. This is the first time I've been disappointed. I definitely don't recommend them.

The sides were ok but nothing near as good as at Mortons or Capital Grille or other competitors. I enjoyed the mushrooms the most and even those i do a better job of making at home.

I ordered the rib eye. It was pretty large. And thick. And juicy. Very pleased with my medium order. I am not used to seasoning on my piece of meat. This one, while tasty, was very high on the salt.

All in all, the experience was ok. I would not come back for a meal like that if I was paying (or my significant other was). But I could be persuaded to check out the patio of a summer for happy hour or in the evening.

    In a nutshell, never again.

I dined at Del Frisco's last night only after hearing its praises from my boyfriend and a food salesman. I made a reservation and came to enjoy my meal.  I arrive and check in with valet. I then enter the restaurant where I see stairs. We are instructed to go up the stairs to the host. We oblige. We check in and wait for a brief minute or two before someone walks us to our table. It was the longest walk imaginable. We were seated in a table that was in a side room off to the side. I felt like I was a kid on punishment and had to go sit in the corner. Why did we get shafted from seeing the views from the main room? The place was empty when we got there.  Not only did the walk and table bother me but I, along with my guest, were gawked at by the servers. Look, I love male attention from MY BOYFRIEND and possibly Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson but I am not comfortable with getting it from wait staff. I thought this was an upscale restaurant but the night proved me wrong. Our waiter was downright awkward. I felt like he was trying (keyword being 'trying') to flirt with us and not be professional. He made inappropriate comments of bra size and sexuality. I felt like it was his first time speaking to women and he just got nervous. I felt sorry for him because I just don't see a future for him in this line of work. Look if you're going to be a server, be the best server possible. If you're going to be an accountant, be the best. Nobody here was trying. Not the host, server, or chef.

Now let's talk about the food. They brought bread and butter to the table. The butter was whipped and creamy. The bread was a sesame seed bun (like a roll that you expect a sub to be served on from a Polish deli). It was not homemade. It was not artisan. And again, this is not fine dining. For appetizers, we got the crab cake and the wedge salad. The crab cake was tasty. The sauce on the plate made the meal. The cake itself could have used more egg for binding because it was falling apart but again the taste of the sauce was yummy. Next we got a wedge salad. I liked it.

For dinner we had the lamb chops, the rib eye, and the mahi mahi. The rib eye was the best thing that night -very well seasoned. The chops were also very good. I can make better ones, but they were still good. The mahi was downright a joke. It was shameful they would serve something so mediocre being on the waterfront. If anything, I expected more of a seafood selection and if I had known the mahi was going to taste like that I would have ordered more apps. I was also annoyed that i had to ask what the seafood of the day was. I also wish they used crumb snatchers to clean off table between meals.
For dessert, we had the crème brulee, the strawberry dish, and the chocolate cake. They were very boring. Nothing was remarkable.

I thought Capital Grille was too old and I made the decision to come here thinking it was hip. I will not make this mistake again. When I pay for a $55 steak I want the service that comes with a $55 steak. I feel like I would have been better off dining at the established steakhouses with MORE food options and more professional staff.

I was also annoyed that my server didn't take my valet ticket. I was instructed to take it the host stand. Hey! I'm paying a $300 bill - YOU take it to the host stand! And then, here's the icing- I give my host stand the valet ticket -she stamps it to 'validate' it and I then have to go outside (in the cold) to hand my ticket to a valet person while they then go get it. Why would I need my ticket validated if I had to pre-pay for it? Furthermore, why am I doing ALL the work to retrieve my car when there are multiple host stands both floor level and restaurant level? There should be a system where the server initiates the retrieval of your car so that it is waiting for you when you exit. Call me spoiled but the management of this place screams ROOKIE!

I appreciated that someone from the restaurant wrote back.  One more thing I would like to add is that ordering steak 3 way was probably not the best idea for me.  As the sauces overpower the flavor of the steak.  If I'm in the area I would stop by and try another one of their steaks but just a filet or porterhouse done medium rear without the sauces.

Glad to see that success hasn't ruined Del Frisco's. I had a fantastic dinner last night with a friend/former client. Getting a table during peak dinner hours is hard even early in the week, so we had a 5:30 p.m. reservation (the other option was 8 p.m.). Reservations are mandatory.

We started off with Calamari Shanghai ($15), perfectly cooked, tender rings mixed with hot chilis and a tangy Asian sauce, and a tuna tartare ($16) which Del Frisco's seasons with chili oil, lemon zest and capers and served with crostini smeared with olivata. The calamari was better than I remembered. The tuna was good, but the flesh was light and less flavorful than the ruby hued tuna I prefer.

Dinner was a 16 oz. veal porterhouse ($42) for me and a 16 oz. NY Strip ($44) for my friend. My veal was a tad more cooked than I liked. At the recommendation of the server, I ordered it medium, which Del Frisco's considers a "hot, red center." Mine was more pink. My friend loved his steak; it looked picture perfect. A side of sauteed mushrooms was a steep $10, but de rigeur for our entrees.

Speaking of expensive, this time I did see the wine list. The enormity of the book is overshadowed only by the insane mark-ups. For example, a 2008 Joel Gott cabernet sauvignon that retails for about $17 was a whopping $65. And in my opinion, that class of wine doesn't belong on Del Frisco's list anyway. There were few bottles in the double digits. We had a 2007 Honig cabernet sauvignon ($86). It was a good middle ground between the jammy, fruit-forward cab my friend wanted and a more austere, Bordeaux-style cab I wanted. Kudos to sommelier Erin for bringing us the 2007 which wasn't on the list. And she actually recommended something that was less expensive - a Montes Alpha. That doesn't happen too often. Erin is a wine goddess. Ask for her by name.

And here's a positive development: The hoochie mamma factor and obsequious back-slapping are gone. Thankfully. The eye candy is still there, but without the Playboy club vibe. I say Del Frisco's remains a go. I took away a star for the overcooked veal porterhouse and outrageous mark-ups on wine, but the food is still fantastic overall.

For me this place was great. I love fine dining so my boyfriend wanted to impress me with a place like Del Frisco's... and he did.

    Environment:
The ambiance was very intimate and cozy. We where seated in a table for two right by the glass wall leading to the deck with a view. Gorgeous! even at night. Lights where dimmed music was comfortable, you felt separated from the other guests even though there where other people around. We went on a Sunday evening - not very busy at all.

    The Food:
We ordered from the prix fixe menu with the only exception that i had the lamb instead of the filet mignon. The waiter explained that the entree could be changed and the price adjusted.

The Cesar salad was great The lamb was good- I was served two racks, more than I expected. Cooked to perfection, however I found that it was too salty. Maybe the rub had too much salt but it was still edible.
We had the vegetable and the mashed potatoes for sides both very very good. Followed by the dessert - cheesecake with raspberry (they where out of strawberries) very creamy not to sugary went down smooth.

    The Staff:
Our main waiter - besides all the other ones that came to us, was very knowledgeable, funny and delightful. I couldn't decide on a drink so he chose an amazingly good Riesling white wine for me. The other staff where very graceful, many of them where humorous and playful - if your more serious or an older couple you might find it unprofessional. But I was fine with it they weren't disruptive of other guest. A gentleman - I think he must be the manager- walked through the floor several times during dinner, I assume to check for water refills, and make sure everyone was satisfied.

The price is exactly what open reservation or yelp categorize it as. We were not on the search for Bostons best steak house we simply wanted to enjoy ourselves and we did, its well worth it.

So I don't write many reviews. I wrote a bunch when I was living in NYC, but not so many now that I live here in Cambridge. I guess I don't really care that much? Or else whatever I would say has already been said by someone else? That being said, my recent dining experience at Del Frisco's begged for a review.

Tonight was the 5 year anniversary of my father's passing, and every year my mother and I have a tradition of going to a different steak house since my dad loved a great steak. Having gone to many martini power lunches at the Del Frisco's in NYC, I knew that at least the food would be decent.

When I made my reservation on Open Table, because my mother had never been to any harborside restaurant in Boston before, I did note my father's passing and asked for a table by the window. Cheap shot I suppose, but I wasn't really expecting much since I requested on Open Table and previous requests at other restaurants have been ignored.

When we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated at a GREAT table, right against the glass in the middle of the restaurant - no obstructions due to columns or the tables on the patio or anything at all. My mother oohed and ahhed at the view all night. We had tremendous service from our waitress, Jessica, and the sommelier recommended several great bottles of wine within a reasonable price point. They also have blue cheese stuffed olives for those of you who are martini lovers... NOM.

Throughout the night we received great service from various members of the staff. Our petit filets were PERFECTLY cooked medium rare (still mooing, haha) and the au gratin potatoes and creamed spinach (both with bacon) were unfussy, covered with cheese, and great comfort food staples.

At the end of the evening, my mother and I passed on dessert. However, to our surprise, we received a complementary banana bread pudding. We were slightly confused when it ended up on our table, but Jessica promptly came by and said that several members of the staff had read my note about my mother and father, and they wanted to make sure that we had a memorable evening at Del Frisco's. We were so touched! I know it doesn't cost a lot to give out free dessert (that was incredible BTW - F the famous lemon cake), but at the same time, they didn't have to. Coming from someone who works in the service industry, Jessica went sincerely above and beyond her call of duty. It was really a thoughtful gesture that was much appreciated on our bittersweet occasion.

Although I've been to perhaps better steakhouses in Boston (Abe and Louie's is incredible), the service and attention to detail at Del Frisco's was unparalleled in our experience. Especially if you get Jessica as your server - you won't regret it!

This is definitely one of the best high-end steak houses I have ever visited. The steak rates with some of my other favorites which include Capital Grille,Ruth's Chris, Morton's and Flemings. They also have a great wine list and I have to say the atmosphere is awesome. It was a bit crowded the night I went but it was to be expected since it is fairly new and also weekend night.

I took my boyfriend here to celebrate his birthday, I had reservations and told the receptionist that it was his birthday (in advance) she told me they would put a candle in his dessert. (nice offer, too bad it didn't happen).

The place is very posh, on the waterfront and was very packed for a mid week dinner night. Our waiter was very nice and chatty. We started with the calamari-way too spicy. We split a wedge salad-it was ok, can't really mess up a wedge. For my meal I chose the 3 4oz fillet special served 3 ways (oscar, blue cheese, demi glaze) The steaks were cooked good, but everything again was spicy and overly peppered! I personally hate spicy food and pepper. My boyfriend got the bone in rib eye, which he loved but the peppered crust on top of his steak was like 2 inches thick! We got the gnocchi n scalloped potatoes for sides, they were ok. Dessert we had the lemon cake which was very good, but the cheesecake was disgusting, it did not taste like cheesecake, it was like a spongy bland mess. My boyfriend enjoyed his meal, he loves spicy and pepper food. I on the other hand didn't like anything and would not go again.

Incredible meal, my bone in filet was perfectly cooked and infused with crack, cause I can't stop thinking about it.

Wine list was unbelievable, a bit overwhelming - but Scott helped us pick out the perfect Cab.

Crab gnocchi, are you kidding?!  So delicious!

The view was awesome, cocktails were great, food and wine were amzing and the people were beautiful... what more could you ask for?!

Well, maybe someone else to pick up the tab :-)

This place has high-energy and quite a "power scene"... Extremely cool view of Boston Harbor.  Excellent service and delicious food.  I had a blast.

    But...

My only complaint is the extremely high prices -- and I'm not someone who has an issue with this typically.  My wife and I went with two other couples, and we had a nice dinner (no desert, no wine) and the bill was $750...

    Wow.

    Everything just adds up...

The drinks are all around $15 and the entrees seem to average close to $50 -- then you have to order your sides on top of that... So, if money isn't and issue or you're on an expense account, go for it.  But, otherwise, beware...

Crabcakes are the best in the city! Calemari,Shrimp and steak tartare are also excellent apps.
Have had the bone-in Ribeye twice-perfectly cooked with incredible flavor. Sides are all good and large portions.
Amazing view of the harbor-this is a great addition to the Seaport area.
My only negative-It is PRICY;even more so than Grill23 0r Capitol Grill[my other favorite steakhouses in town

Want to transport yourself immediately to Orlando? Head over to Del Frisco's. Make it right by hitting a couple dozen tequila shots before you walk into this one.

    a) The food was good. It really was.

    b) The bar, at 8:30 on a Thursday night at least, was an incredibly dense combination of troubling suburban divorcees, business travelers with open-ended expense accounts and generally amped-up tourists. I'm not one for fire codes, but the explosive amount of hair gel could have caused a soccer-stadium hooligan-worthy stampede should one of the candles been nudged astray.

    c) Why would I order an Old Fashioned, give you a recommended Bourbon per your question, and then have you fill half of the glass with soda water? Also, the sugar must be diluted. Granules of the good stuff as a dessert helped post-soda-water intake, but wasn't quite the balalnce I was looking for.

    d) Instead of using those buzz/light-up things for announcing table preparation -- they send eye-makeup slathered young women around who literally YELL names. I feel bad for them and the ass-grabbing clientele they have to put up with. Seem like decent folks.

    e) We got the gang service tactic when our entrees arrived, only for the poor servers to realize that the table hadn't yet been cleared for that course. We subsequently had to clear the table ourselves, oyster serving plate in lap, while they made the transition. All good on the miscommunication, but there were literally 5 people around our table trying to make this maneuver happen. Was akin to being involved in a near-fatal car accident at a slow speed. Just enough to make you cringe, experience a brief adrenaline rush, and generally feel awkward.

    f) The food was good. It really was. Just not enough to cancel out the crazies. Man, it reminds me of Orlando. And I was born there. I, unfortunately, would know.

The good:  The view, the patio, the bar, the energy
    The average:  The food
    The bad:  The service

Del Frisco's is brand new and is a great addition to the Seaport and Liberty Wharf.  The space is really cool - and they have great seating inside and out.  Tons of people...and it's loud!  Great bar - especially after work.

The steak was good, but not the best I've had.  In terms of Boston steak, it's average.  There are just too many other places that are better.  Abe & Louie's, Grill 23, Mooo and Capital Grille are all better than Del Frisco's.

Unfortunately, the service is slow and unprofessional.  This is one aspect where they could very easily step it up.

Overall - decent place, but if I'm going to pay prices like these, I'll take a different steak restaurant.
