Great service, great space, decent beer selection, reasonable prices and generous food dishes. I previously gave this place four stars the first time I went there, but having gone back twice more, I'm a fan.
They could ignore me for a half hour and I'd still be happy with this place.
The bartender (manager?) is very approachable, friendly and makes you feel at home. If you're sitting in the back, remember this is a pub and you will have to get your own drinks. If you're sitting in the front, the server will come to you which is not expected in a pub.
The space upstairs is very laid back, the bar is large and the front section has an excellent view of the Water Street scene. This is a great place for groups, where you can watch the game, have a business meeting or perform karaoke.
The nachos are.. wow.. huge heap of chips, layered generously with vegetables and cheese. The $13 plate will easily fill three hungry people. -

I skipped this place a few times because it looked so small. But I came to find out that there's an upstairs area. So just because it looks full, doesn't mean you should despair. Go in and give it a try.
They have drink specials each day of the week- making a pitcher pretty affordable. Pizzas are pretty big here- but I've only tried the burger and quesadillas. Both were standard pub fare, and are things I'll order again.
A great Gastown hangout. -

If you could give a half star ratings I would give 3.5 because Deighton's Well was between ok and good. I had the burger/beer deal for $10 which is great value but the beer tasted like the $0.25 stuff I drink when I was 18 on cheap beer night! Burger tasted like a burger.
Service was pretty do it yourself meaning we went to the bar to fetch our beers and then to pay after. I would say this is a good place to go when you are looking for very casual pub food. -

Been here a couple of times and most recently during the Olympic week when we were given a 'Olympic' menu - alarm bells were ringing as that just signaled possible price gouging and I didn't see any of the drink specials I saw last time. However, it was $15 for a heaping plate of group platter nachos (which is fair) - unfortunately, the nachos we got were VERY stale. Thumbs down there.
However, service was quick and friendly and the drink prices are very reasonable. However, I never really like the vibe of the place - the bar faces the street and there's upstairs and downstairs section with a patio as well. The storefront looks small so I think most people walk by as the front bar looks packed - but the other levels are near empty. The good thing is that they have a TV on every level if you're trying to catch a game.
But a decent watering hole to get your drink on - I've never seen a lineup here and have always managed to find seats - which is unusual for Gastown.Listed in: A Compendium of Fine…

This place used to be very good (I gave an extra star for history). Service is now terrible - 20 minutes to take drink order with the bar being empty. Food value has fallen greatly, menu had been downsized to Slim Pickin's. Had the chicken wings that were on special - so gross it was unbeliable that they were served. They seem to have waterboarded the poor birds - someone should stop this chicken terrorism torture cycle.
I think it is new management - they might want to reconsider their business goals -
