Review from Phil K.
North Vancouver, BC
Just re-opened (april 2012) under new management the former #2 from Hachi Hana (which North Van Sushi Fans might know & love)
Lots of classics with some really nice modern rolls... especially the Mango roll and the spicy tuna sashimi.
Great food - friendly staff and lots of options. -

What an array of choices. We were all overwhelmed with their menu. I think it's actually a bad thing, they certainly need to minimize it, it will better guide their customer to what they are looking for, and make the process of ordering that much faster. There was also a bit of a wait, in what seemed to be an empty restaurant.
Overall, the food was good. I had a wonton 'boat' filled with crab meat and other goodies which I devoured. I remember my dynamite roll with sashimi being very good, and my fiance had the phili beef roll which was delicious. The ramen soup must have been descent as our friend inhaled his. -

Deanna L could not stop craving sashimi ever since her first bite arriving in Vancouver, and we could not have been happier with this surprise find.
We had just finished the morning kayaking, and debating whether we could tolerate the commute over either bridge for our sushi fix. Thankfully, we found this little gem just up the street, and glad we never made it back across Lion's Gate or Second Narrows!
The Toro sashimi was by far some of the freshest and most delicious we had during our trip, so much so that we had a second order! The Hamachi was also meaty and lush, full of flavour and substance.
Although far from traditional, the "Dragon's Pillow" was a pleasant surprise. Not a sushi preparation but more so a Japanese tapa, perhaps; but the fresh crab, chopped scallop, masago, unagi, and tobiko stacked on top of a piece of sweet potato tempura was a pleasant bite, although each element was so fresh and tasty that I know that I would have enjoyed each on its own just as much. -

Terrible service today. It took over 35 minutes to receive the bento box I ordered, while a family member accompanying me who ordered 3 rolls would have had to wait 10 minutes longer. There were only three tables busy within the entire restaurant. Meanwhile a nearby table with 3 ordering patrons got their food 10 minutes prior to us, despite the fact they arrived 10 minutes after us. I was told by the young Caucasian female server that I could have tea, but she forgot to bring that by our table. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone for its poor, lackluster service.
