I love David's tea. The store, the design, the quality.
It is also cheaper per gram than the other stores like "Tealish" or whatever copycats have been popping up lately.
(Yes I did the math)
I go for the Vanilla Oolong (OMG) and the Earl Grey Cream. Once you find a good thing you keep coming back for it. I keep 3 tins stocked at all times.
I wish they still gave free samples :( -

Yeah, yeah, yeah. The tea is great, the design is great and the quality is great. You've heard all that before...
What rubbed me the wrong way about this place was the annoying, chatty, tattooed hipster that was working there. She did not stop yapping the entire time we were there! It would be fine if she was soft spoken, but she was loud and her voice traveled more than Les Stroud! It was like I was at a dinner theatre and she was the main attraction. But replace dinner with (overpriced) tea and replace theatre with a needy, attention starved brat!
I could barely think while I was trying to tell my wife why Brad Bird (Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Ratatouille,) was an inspired choice to direct Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Then again, maybe that's why she recommended we go there! -

I have found David's Tea to be a good back up place to get tea since my number 1 go-to tea store has short hours, David's has the advantage of being open past 6pm.
I am a big tea fan but I prefer my tea to be simple. I'm not so into all the fruity and dessert-y blends that they offer at David's. I feel like such an old fogey when I am being bombarded by the sales people to try a sample of thier brand new roobios-citron-caramel-vanilla-green-white-red tea and I say 'I would just like some plain black tea please'.
Thankfully they do carry a few variities of plain black tea and they are very good. I do like as well that you can sniff and sample whatever kind you'd like before buying.
The salespeople there really do know their stuff, they always make suggestions of how best to serve whichever tea you've picked and also what type of meal/snack it would go well with and even what time of day its best for.
Maybe one day I'll be adventurous and try something different in thier tea offerings, but for now I'll stick with my failsafe plain black. -

Tea Heaven!
The people here are super friendly and chatty. You don't feel intimidated or rushed like others to browse through the tea. Just let them know what type of tea you are looking for and they will let you smell and or sample everything!! so efficient.
I really like the girls here, super friendly.
My only comment on the actual tea(large size $2.65) was that the taste was faint. Maybe it was the tea I chose. but I will come back and try a stronger tea.
Great alternative to a Coffee bar (if you don't want coffee) or dessert (ahem, across the street) or alcohol. -

I have to admit that I am a DavidsTea ADDICT!!!
The Bloor West location is my favourite of all of the Toronto DavidsTea's. The staff there are consistently helpful and it's obvious that they really love the product that they're selling (with good cause!).
David's has a wide range of teas (Black, Green, White, Oolong, Pu'erh, Rooibos, Herbal, and Maté teas) with lots of different varieties. They are always coming out with new and seasonal flavours so it's good to check back often or just sign up for their newsletter(http://www.davidstea.com/).
Personal favourite teas:
Chocolate Rocket (OBSESSED w. this tea right now)
Coco Chai
Mama Mia
Green and Fruity
Long Life Oolong
Pumpkin Chai (this is a seasonal flavour that I'm hoping they'll bring back in the fall)
Creme Brulee
Goji Pop
If you're new to the tea scene my suggestion to you is to just get in there and start smelling all their teas. They can also suggest teas that might interest you based on what flavours you enjoy most.
I can't say enough good things about DavidsTea! Be warned that you will become a tea addict if you're not one already! -

David's Tea though a franchise but is an excellent addition to any neighbourhood!!
Aside from the great selections of loose tea leaves and tea accessories, there is a tea cafe that serves freshly brewed tea by the cup.
It is a great idea to have tables located in the front of the store, so customers can sip their tea and people watching at the same time!Listed in: Loose Leaf Teas!, A Day in High Park!

It's best to look at their menu ahead of time before buying a tea here! They have rows upon rows of different flavours, and of course, they let you sniff them all to figure out what you like, but it's all a bit confusing if you're new.
I had a cup of 'forever nuts' tea, which is made up of a blend of nuts and beet root (which dyes the tea pink!). It's caffeine-free, so a great late-night option. It was very tasty - if you like hazlenut lattes, you'll enjoy.Listed in: Bloor West Village

It seems I have found the best tea in Toronto. The clean décor of David's Tea will invite you to come in, and their flavours will make you come back.
I went there on a hot summer day and had a delicious refreshing citrus iced tea, and bought something I was keeping for the cold days: a chocolatey-coffee flavoured pu-erh tea. It's AMAZING.
Fortunately, I'm almost running out of it. Why, "fortunately", one would ask? Because it means I need to run to David's Tea again soon... of course!Listed in: Coffee & Muffins

"can i have earl grey?"
"we actually have 3!"
and so began my chipper experience with the pleasant server behind the counter. she let me smell each earl grey variant, and i chose the original. we continued to banter for a few minutes, and i found the servers so pleasant and wonderful that i wanted to leave a tip, but there's no tip jar!?!
anyway, up to that point, 5 stars. BUT the earl grey was really horrid. i think the leaves they gave me were extremely weak, because it looked to be the right amount, but no amount of steeping could rescue the cup.
i think an earl grey (or whatever your favorite tea is) is the way to test a tea shop. and so far david's fails to deliver. they get 3 because of the *excellent* service. i'll try it one more time and i hope they hit it out of the part. -
Review from Kat F.
I am a tea fiend and at any given moment I have between ten and way-too-many types of tea on hand, ready for brew. I have two small cordless kettles, a French press, a tea scoop and several beautiful Polish mugs (http://www.bodumusa.co...) ready to be filled with whatever tea I'm in the mood for.
While I am pretty loyal to my friends at Tealish (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...) as well as anywhere that sells Toronto's own "100 Mysteries" tea by Tea In The Sahara, my experiences at DavidsTea, particularly the new Bloor Street West location, have been extremely pleasant.
Caitlin is wonderful and deserves the title of ultimate Tea Titan - she was incredibly patient with me as I teetered between a dozen different teas, having walked in not really knowing what I wanted, but just hoping to browse. The experience buying tea here is not unlike having a personal real estate agent or stock advisor - everything is tailored based on the input you give them and there is bound to be something that you love among the hundreds of teas lining the walls.
I'm particularly fond of their Greek Mountain Tea, which my friend Marika normally ships to me in massive bundles directly from Samos, Greece, but I think Canada Customs is on to me now, so Davids is my new pusher. A solid, lemony tea for colds, sore throats and other upper respiratory tract woes. I was also shocked to enjoy Some Velvet Morning, a green detox tea that's a real liver lover - great for those of us who are constantly pummeling our livers to levels of distress. For nighttime herbal tea I like Sweet Dreams - chamomile, lemongrass, lemon, orange and rose petals, which promises to "make everyone love me and even make my jokes funnier."
I also love their infused honey sticks - I picked up some lemon-infused single serving sticks that have a strip of lemon zest right inside and are the perfect sweetener for one cup of Earl Grey. Finally, whoever is responsible for the design of DavidsTea's store, labels and logo has excellent skills. I love the uniformity and the calming, soothing nature of the packaging and am proud to display it on my counter!
Bring money. You will want to buy everything.

Tea is not really my specialty, but I had some at David's Tea and not only it was very good, but the service was awesome.
The decoration is clean and modern, but they basically assume you're having your tea to go, since there aren't many seats available. It seems their assumptions are correct, so who am I to judge?
All in all it's a good place if you want to try different tea varieties and blends. Try their citrus blends, specially the iced ones. -

David's Tea always has a friendly staff who have tried their own wares. Walk in to sample one of their two different daily blends of tea and have a sniff from the canisters of their multiple blends of leaves. They stock White, Black, Green, Oolong, Pu'erh, Rooibos as well as exotic combinations and their own creations. There is a wall of gift ideas such as tea kits, teapots, books and cups (check out their travel mug/tea press with hidden compartment to store tea).
Prices are reasonable and I bought some tasty Earl Grey and high grade Matcha. Don't forget, when you buy 100 grams of tea, you also get an aluminum tin to store it in. Bring it back in when you finish all of your tea and you get a slight discount off your next purchase. -

Once again David's Tea delivered great service. I walked in and was immediately offered a sample to try. This time it was a chocolate tea and although it was yummy I stuck to my Green Berry tea.
Sadly they didn't have any cupcakes like the Queen street location and the girl behind the counter seemed pretty distracted by her other co-worker's personal conversation. -

There's a lot of tea here. They really like when you smell the tea. I just wanted a cup of tea, so all this mincing around with smelling tea wasn't my cup of, ksjdals. ok. it's alright. Very nice inside. White and clean.

My mum and I popped in here to have some tea and take advantage of their free wi-fi. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. Our tea was delicious. I had something that tasted like chocolate and my mum had something that tasted coconutty. Sooo good.
The wi-fi was reliable and fast. They could probably use some more tables for the winter. -

David's Tea is a zen oasis of tea. The tea is fresh, well displayed and so very tasty. The staff are patient with my repeated requests to smell this tea, or that tea, and they skillfully describe each tea so that I almost know what it will taste like before I have my own cup. The space is beautiful, the tea-wares are christmas list worthy and their signature seasonal blends are always fun and interesting. A fantastic addition to the Toronto tea landscape.

Tea drinkers rejoice! This place is a tea heaven. I had a pleasant trip to this location. Their staff was very knowledgable of their teas and their benefits. Their teas are unique and their labels are super fun. Whoever thought chocolate and tea are good together is a genius. Great dessert without the sugar!

Rooibos and Herbal and Black, OH MY!
Tea, that is. David's Tea.
This review is difficult for me, seeing as me and tea haven't spoken to each other in a little while, my ability to critique is lackluster,
So, for all you tea-inept out there like me, David's tea is perfect! You like the name of a tea? Well, they will let you smell it before you buy...instead of describing it with a bunch of useless tea jargon.
Customer service was pretty fine, and the environment was fan-diddly-tastic (It smelt like the heavens gave birth to a new scent).
So, for all you non-tea drinkers, David's Tea will rebirth you into a believer!
Oh, Oh, Oh, and you can have all your tea either hot or iced. I love options! -

Wow! Cafes in Toronto need to rip a page out of Davids book. The service. Is. Impeccable.
Walk in and you'll be sure to be met with smiles. The staff is so friendly, patient and informative. No one is pushy here, and you can take your time in smelling the different flavours of tea, take some loose leaf home, or try some there($2.50). They will also produce a latte (without espresso) if you desire. There are only three tables in the cafe, but it wasn't busy on my visit (Weekday evening).
I noticed that the teas generally smell more aromatic than they taste flavourful, but that's the way tea rolls, and most coffee drinkers (like me) sometimes forget.
Tip: I love that they offer a discount if you bring your own container(any container) for loose leaf tea. -

BEST TEA PLACE EVER. The associates are ridiculously awesome, so nice. The smell when you walk in there - nothing like it. This place is for TRUE tea snobs ( I mean this in the best way), for those who love their tea- quality tea. Because you're getting quality tea leaves, and you can actually see fruit and nut chunks in the leaves. It's just the best place for tea lovers. I'm never going anywhere else for tea again. I keep the tea list in my purse for regular browsing. I recommend LIVE LONG OOOLONG tea.

There is an unbelievable number of coffee shops along Bloor Street West, so when I saw Davids Tea today, it was a nice surprise. There are a couple tables near the window to sit at. The place is bright and the staff is friendly and knowledgable. Bought a tea to help the husband sleep better, and it works!

This is my favorite tea shop ever! Everything about it is pretty. From the walls to the simple containers of tea. They have coloured labels so you know what kind of tea you should get. I got caramelized pear and love it. I have also had Swamp Water, Creme Caramel Rooibos, Hojicha Creme and Spicy Chocolate Rooibos. It all helps me sleep on the days that I can't relax enough. I love buying my tea here and taking a whiff of everything. Some of them are organic, and a way to take it home and be Eco friendly is to buy their little tea containers for $2.50. If you bring it back the next time you buy tea 50 cents will be knocked off the price. Forget grocery stores, this little shop is somewhere everyone should go to for their tea.

Buying a french press might not have been the smartest thing to do considering I already drink too much coffee, but having visited David's Tea I can now justify the purchase by using it to brew tea, too. I stopped by this location yesterday and was offered a sample of some buttered rum black tea by a friendly employee who explained the deal to me: all the teas are colour-coded behind the counter (black, white, green, herbal, oolong etc.), and you can ask to smell any of them before purchase. They also have pamphlets that list all the teas in stock during the season, which I'm sure I'll find useful for future visits. Some of the teas are quite expensive (up to $20/50g for the really fancy stuff, but your basic earl grey and english breakfast are both $4.50/50g. I ended up buying the delicious pumpkin chai from their fall line ($6.75/50g) and sweet dreams ($6.50/50g), which i haven't yet tried but which i assume is better than the teabags available from the grocery store.
