Daves Liquor Store is pretty sweet. The reason I love this liquor so much is that it's open late. If you need some booze after you're leaving the club it's the perfect place to stop by.
The location is a little annoying to get to, since you can only access the place going west on 16th Avenue. I've had to make countless (usually illegal) u-turns in order to pull into the parking lot.
The prices at Daves are definitely average. They aren't charging you a ridiculous amount, even though they have better hours than most liquor stores. They also have different alcohol on special on different nights. Sometimes you can get a hat or t-shirt with a beer purchase, other times you get a free tester of something harder. I realize a lot of other liquor stores have the same promotional ideas, but it seems like Daves has them a lot more frequently.
The only reason I love Daves is because it is open so late. It makes it really easy to keep the party alive once you've left the bar. Thanks, Dave, for staying open for the booze hounds who are too drunk to think ahead. Cheers! -

Dave knows his stuff.
He's got a good selection of scotch and rums for a small shop, but his real treasure is the beer cooler. He has just about every kind of beer you can find in Alberta crammed into a little back room that's hard to navigate because of all the beers. But this is how it should be. The beer always tastes as cold as it would get in your fridge overnight. Other places on 16th Street seem to turn their coolers down in the summer, but Dave keeps his consistent. This is important on a long, hot summer day when you realize you have no beer in your fridge.
But the best thing about Dave's is the prices. In some cases, he's a dollar or two cheaper than the liquor store across the street for the very same brands. He will never tell you how he does this, but it doesn't matter as long as he keeps doing it. Best liquor store in the area....
