Review from Cyndi H.
Vancouver, BC
I came here for a wifi date and though the wifi was hit and miss the tea was amazing! Order in and enjoy your cha in a ridiculously tall glass. Yes, size IS everything so go for broke.
I regretfully abstained from pearls (must come back soon to try) but my lychee green tea that was to die for... all 85L of it! Okay, maybe 1L, but it's huge.
The atmosphere lacks oomph but the service and tea are two thumbs up! -

**Review is for the boba milk tea only**
Heard a bit about this place before going up to Vancouver for a dragonboat race and decided to check it out as we were in the area. It's a cute little store off the beaten path right by the Creekside waters. We stop in to use the free wi-fi and decide to get a couple drinks. Whenever I try a new boba place, I just get the regular boba milk tea, so that's what I got and it was served to me in a large glass cup. When I paid almost $5 (CAD) for it, I was thinking that this milk tea better be bomb. When it came to the table, it was actually a little bland. There wasn't enough tea flavor, too much milk flavor. Not a good balance.
We stayed for about 45 minutes just because we were able to use our American smart phones with the free wi-fi there. The free wi-fi is the only thing that upped this review to two stars, unfortunately. -

* Taiwanese cafe in Yaletown *
While the Greater Vancouver area has a lot of really good Taiwanese options, there aren't so many on the downtown peninsula. So this comes as a welcome addition to Yaletown.
I popped in for a quick bite and got the Taiwanese chicken nuggets ($5.99) with a side of rice ($1.00). It would have been nice if they had a combo with some Taiwanese side dishes like many places do, but alas not at this time. But in any case, the nuggets were perfectly fried, and not greasy at all. The chicken was well marinated, quite juicy, and the coating had the typical Taiwanese taste to it. Really nicely done! It was served with a tomato chili dipping sauce which added a pleasant punch as well. Photo: http://www.yelp.ca/biz...
Service was really friendly too!
It is a fairly limited menu, but they seem to offer 3-4 daily specials a day on top of the base offerings.
It is really nice to not have to leave the downtown peninsula to get some decent Taiwanese snack food. I'll be back and will work my way through their other offerings!
P.S. Free wifi if that matters..... -

Been here since they opened as they took over Raging Bean's suite last year. Sad to see the mom leave (along with her baked goods) but happy to see a change up in cuisine in this small little town of Yale.
Drinks are sometimes too sweet but it cna be easily fixed with a "half sweet" order. A little pricey if you ask me..but it's Yaletown. Rent is high and they gotta stay afloat somehow. A family ran business with the brother and sister manning the front 90% of the time. Could use some specials..but at least they have stamp cards!
Haven't tried too many food items on their menu as I'm always here for bbtea..but I did manage to try their spicy beef noods and marinated tofu a couple weeks ago.
Noods: Good noods but it reminded me of instant noodles (it wasnt). I would have preferred the more thick noodles but I guess with such a small kitchen they can only do so much. Broth was SPICY but it didn't have that 'beefy' taste that I enjoy elsewhere. However, the beef was super tender and i would definitely recommend trying it if you're a beef person. SO tender and juicy.
Marinated tofu: it's pretty hard to mess this up since it's a staple in taiwanese cafes..but I wasn't a big fan of the sauce they used. It was too....'star anisey' for my liking ..but I did like the texture of the tofu itself.
If you want have a craving you want to fulfill when you're in this area..you can come here. But it wouldn't be my absolutely FIRST choice. -

Yaletown has bubble tea. Finally.
Dash took over the old Raging Bean location and has transformed it into a little cafe serving bubble tea, fresh fruit juice, shaved iced with various toppings, and ice cream.
I went on opening day which meant that everything was 1/2 off (Score!). I decided to try lychee with pearls. They asked me if I wanted it mixed with black tea or green tea and I picked green tea. The mixture was just right - really light and refreshing.
My bubble tea was just over $2 because of the promo but it would have normally cost $3.85 + 0.50 for pearls. I'm glad to see that they're not price gouging just because it's Yaletown.
I still think Dragon Ball has the best bubble tea, but this place was good in my books...especially for an area of town that was hurtin' for a bubble tea joint to call its own. -

Really nice staff. I went with two bubble tea virgins and they were great at explaining how everything works and what they might like. Bubble tea can be a little intimidating for the uninitiated; that menu is just so big! The pearls are just right with a little bit of soft and a little bit of chewiness. They even let us taste our drink beforehand to make sure we were going to love it. Great place.
