What apparently spawned from a mid-afternoon chat over coffee and biscuits has turned into an immensely successful store. Wandered here one afternoon on the search for something cool and unique for my equally cool and unique friend who just gave birth to Ruby ("She would never say where she came from, yesterday don't matter if it's gone...she comes and goes.... Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday"--guess on which day of the week she was born).

Gone are the tired diaper patterns and the tragically cute bibs. Fran the Bunny by Wonderlamb is quirky and funny looking. And Felix the Bean Bag Chair is just begging to hang out with my own "adult" furniture. Here you'll find your standard baby basics and all those little extras that make childhood so bloody charming. They stock everything from clothes and toys to eating utensils and playground appropriate furnishings. Everything here has mounds more whimsy than you could possibly hope to find elsewhere.

I never had organic clothes, plastic toys that were BPA free and or any of that pretentious stuff and I turned out fine. Than again, my parents were immigrants, therefore, the money needed to be spent putting a roof over our heads than a $44 BPA rubber ducky.  I get the concept and can appreciate the alternative for those over paranoid parents who think that their kid's quality of life will be compromised 'cause they're not wearing organic cotton diapers, however, as a former nanny, I believe that there is only so much that you can do. Even if you were to pamper your kids with the best, there's still the odds that they're not going to be 100% healthy. You do what you can as a parent, however, when it comes to economics vs practicality, I wonder where the reasonable divide is. The staff are ubber friendly. I just roll my eyes at the type of people who actually buy this over price shit for their kids. I deal with these parents all the time. I've seen many of these parents on that TLC show "Til Death Do Us Part" and they wonder why they're in debt.

If your toddler has a high paying job, this is probably the place where he or she will want to do most of their shopping. Or, if you would like for your children to reflect the current status quo that you belong to, the garishly colorful and over the top designer clothes are perfect for showing your kid off at parties, high school reunions, business functions, or even just "look at me" walks down crowded streets.

Fashionable and expensive, this is the place to buy clothes that will prove that your child at least looks smarter than other people's kids. Considering the prices though, it might actually make sense to have several kids so that the hand me downs aren't wasted when your child grows out of them after less than a year.

All in all the place is decorative, crafty and smart with some beautiful artwork, and the clothes do stand out. No matter what you have to admire that at least one person is making money from their fine arts degree.

A great place to find good quality and trendy clothes and toys for your kids.  Don't expect superstore or h&m prices but do expect awesome shoes by vans and native!

Rich, cute, trendy babies shop here. And why wouldn't they with Wonderlamb animals made from wool and cashmere and adorable, incredibly soft stuffed animals by Jellycat. What nursery would be complete without $60 air freshener by Alora? Toddlers who like Ben Sherman will love Dandelion Kids. Actually, I thought the Nasa astronaut suit and the fire fighter outfit were the coolest things in the store. Lucky kids!

Take your tikes to Dandelion Kids and stock their California Closets with everything from mini Thai fisherman pants and Rebuilt tees to Bilibo imagination toys and neon baby glow lamps. Check out the cool Bugaboo Frogs and Petunia Picklebottom diaper bags, too. P.S. While the shop inventory peaks at age eight, smart mamas have been scooping up the beaded coin purses and felt bunny brooches all for themselves.
