Review from Robert H.

I think maybe 3.5 stars. I thought the service and the Sushi was good. The reason I would give them 3.5 stars... They took my left overs to put in a to-go box and I watch the guy in the back, grab my food with his bare hands and put it in the trays. I am just whinny that way, sorry I don't like people touching my food with their bare hands. I don't want to dis them with 3 stars or less just because I am being a little whinny and this seems to be the norm. I know gloves won't stop Cross Contamination but I don't want dead skin or whatever was stuck under your finger-nails in my food. HELLO. I will probably not go back here again. Sorry.

Ok, 4 stars just because they accommodated me and my friend at 10.30pm, just when they were closing! They were really nice, and didn't rush as at all! And I sooo appreciate it, I was really craving sushi last night!
We had dynamite roll, spicy crab roll, yam roll and california roll...they were all tasty, and ginger on the side was super fresh and yummy! Nothing to write home about, but just what I needed at the time. I will go back for sure!
Thanks guys! -

This would have been a solid 3 star review, but the service was HORRIBLE. We had to ask for menus after being there for ten minutes already, ask multiple times for a glass of water, ask for chopsticks and actually resorted to using our teacups for soy sauce dishes. The tea was only hot water, not even any leaves.
The food was ok, not as incredible as I remembered it being the one time I had takeout from there, and we couldn't get them to bring us the bill and had to go up and get it. Sigh. -

Returned for more. This time we ordered salmon sashimi and shared a teriyaki chicken bento. Between the two of us, the portions were just right.
Salmon sashimi
- creamy, fresh, leaves you wanting more.
Teriyaki chicken bento
- crunchy salad (I love the dressing!)
- moist chicken with just enough teriyaki sauce served on a bed of sauteed vegetables and rice
- well made sushi (holds together and just nice in size)
- tempura consisted of prawn, sweet potato and zucchini (loved all of the them) and a fried spring roll
I'm fastidious about wasabi and pickled ginger, both not great here but not bad. Prompt service and great food more than make up for the difference.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I think I need better sushi-discerning friends. Wandering done Denman, we wanted something to eat, not too big (and left Kintaro in a hurry as there was no way we were going to finish an entire ramen soup each). Popped in here for some simple vegetarian sushi rolls and some gyoza. Decent. Ok. Perhaps hard to do wrong?
The menu did seem to have a bunch of interesting sushi rolls, but we weren't feeling adventurous (or hungry) enough to try. They get an Meh rating because their appetizer prices were a bit too high - $4.95 for 6 pc of gyoza, when down the street at Kintaro the same ones are $3.95 gets a Meh.
Great thing about this place? their sushi menu has *pictures* that accompany it - smart idea! you can really see what the roll will look like. Every entry had a picture - good idea! -

I rarely leave reviews but the staff is so friendly and creative that I'm very impressed by how this is put together. Great sushi at great prices!

Decent Sushi option in the West End. Actually this place is better than most of the "Chinese owned" sushi places in this hood. The price is right and the service is good and friendly.
