I don't know any other stores where I can get a tie clip, a pocket square, a bow tie and a bunch of obscure-looking Asian candies all for just two bucks each.

If you're into girly things like those weird mechanical pencils that the Asian kids in your high school math class used to always flaunt around, you'll also take a liking to the store. Lots of other neat things here and there with most of them costing $2 but make sure you check the prices. Everything I've gotten says Made in Japan on it so that's also pretty legit!

Authentic Japanese owned Daiso store. Though most things are $2, unlike the real japan one which is 100Yen (~$1CAD).

This ($2) store is a huge hit not only for the richmond community, but for all lower mainland. Ive even had friends come from alberta asking me to take them to this so-called Daiso.

Dual floors, with all your household, stationery, gardening, storage needs, this place is definitely worth a visit.

TIP: check your item for a green sticker, as it may cost more than $2

    Piggy banks
    Pantyhose
    False eyelashes
Stationary (with very bizarre sayings I might add)
    Kitchen supplies
    Pens
    Fake flowers
    Nail polish
    Hair brushes
    Glasses
    Christmas trees
    Cardboard
    Flip-flops
    Wrapping paper
...all that along with much, much more is what you'll find at Daiso!

It's usually busy, but if you go in the mornings not so much...I would avoid it at all costs on weekend afternoons!

I wouldn't recommend buying their make-up, and everything make-up associated, it seems of very cheap quality (obviously if it's $2!), and is probably not good for you...

You come here for one thing you say to yourself, but you leave with much more...it always happens but at the price it's a-okay.

You know you're insane when you're willing to drive all the way to Richmond from Poco just to get this one specific item at Daiso that costs $2. Yes, I know. The gas costs more than the item in question. So, I often justify that "hey, it's in a mall, so I can browse at all the shops at the same time!"

But yes, I went to Daiso to specifically pick up a folder. Yes, a folder. But I love the kind of folder they have AND they have plenty of colours to choose from!

Also, they have these yummy snacks that you can get as well from pocky to chips to chocolate all the way from Japan. So, yes, I am happy.

Went here a couple weekends ago with some out of town family. If you are familiar with a Daiso this one is clean not too busy and has a wide selection of stock.
If you're not familiar with a Daiso, prepare to have a silly fun time gawking a funky, plastic, funny products.
Our prairie family had a great time, and we had one of the cheapest outings to bring them to.

Isn't everything supposed to be $1.5 or $1? Why is everything $2?

    Ohh Canada!

Otherwise, typical Daiso store. It does have a much bigger selection than some other stores in the U.S.

I spent the better part of 2 hours in here today, giggling like a schoolgirl, perusing the aisles, giddy with excitement from all things polka-dotted, animal'ed, and bright-coloured.

Have you seen the kitchen section??? Mercy me, it's got all types of tools, wrappers, goodies and they're surprisingly sturdy for $2 (most of it is $2, some is more). I love you, Japan.

    Other things to note:

    * lots of cute stationery, cards, files, folders, etc
    * funky socks for girls!
    * plenty of crafting materials
    * zillions of types of bowls, storage bins, food containers
    * a gardening section
    * wide variety of Canadian flag stuff here
    * questionable makeup assortment?
    * chopsticks of all types (polka dots, stars, checks, colours!)

    Also! Items of comic value:

    * disposable panties for men (that is what the package said!)
    * an unusually large assortment of fake eyelashes
    * stationery printed with what looks like rabbits and dogs stuck in elaborately decorative tube tops, and
    * my least favourite, what I call "the cat tire spikes", little plastic fence mats with spikes, so that cats don't trod all over your yard/flowers. They even have sad little drawings of cats crying on the packages of their creepily vast assortment of them. Aaaaaah!

This place is dangerous to someone such as myself, who can rationalize buying most items in this store/find a use for anything (except cat tire spikes), so it's best to venture in with your stern friend who always says "oh, come on! You don't REALLY need that."

Service is quick and polite, but it's a rarity to find someone who works there, in case you have a question.

Dear Daiso, you have stolen my heart

I'm now afraid I can't live without you. Whether it be crafting supplies, art supplies, wood for my wood burning or art stuff in general I can't stay away. This place has nearly everything and for $2. Sometimes, it isn't cheaper than a dollar store but, use your discretion .

Think Walmart but, an enjoyable experience?! Things are organized, the store is neat. Plus it's two floor with an elevator. I would say many parts of the store are wheelchair accesible but some of the aisles aren't so well design.

It terms of the range of things it sells
    -arts and crafts supplies
    -home hardware
    -stationary
    -cleaning supplies

Now some of you are arguing, this sounds like a Dollar Store. No people, this place is 2 floors. It's HUGE. The range and selection of items is like nothing I've seen out of any dollar store. This is one of the few stores that can drag me into the depths of far away richmond on any consistent level. Want dish cleaning clothes? Now a dollar store normaly has what 2-3 varieties here you can choose from adorable frog shaped ones to even how well it can scrub your dishes clean.

Not all the items are $2 but, the majority of them are. The range is $2-$10 for the majority of items. However, do be warned me and my friend picked up this glass item in the more "touristy" section with all the Canadian items. We flipped it over to view the price tag and found out is what $150...I've never seen anything that expensive in a dollar store before.

    I just love this store!!!
It has almost everything for a toonie.  It's much better quality than the crap at the dollar stores.  Unfortunately, they decided to add higher priced items into the lineup which doesn't make sense.  A toonie store should always be a toonie store.  The higher priced items are so not worth it as I can find a similar item for a lower price at some nearby store.
I especially like the pet aisle as the items can be very expensive at a pet store.  There's something in every department for a toonie.  I buy lots of slippers/flip-flops for $2 or how about a hat for $2.   I think this is the largest Daiso there is as I've been to the Daiso in Japan and it was small.

Every time I go to Daiso, I never leave empty handed :)  The store has two floors and everything is labeled nicely from sewing, to kitchen supplies, toys, and gardening.  They also have holiday items.  Even though it is a $2.00 store (unless they state it otherwise), the quality is higher and lasts longer than dollar stores.  I especially adore the cute notebooks, pens, and pencils.  I also love their craft supplies !!!

I've been itching to visit Daiso for a long time now and now that I have, I was like a little girl in a toy store at the barbie section! Well, without the jumping and screaming part but you get the point.

So as you may already know, they sell things for $2 unless stated otherwise (green tags not for 2 bucks).

Big store, two floors, full of things ranging from cute things, toys, piggybanks, canada souvenirs/keepsakes, arts&crafts, makeup, houseware, kitchenware, snacks, disposable panties, sponges with cute faces, fake eyelashes, POCKY, coin purses, deco-den stuff, CD cases, iphone cases (plain black), screen protectors.... and the list goes on! Hehe I just listed half of the things I remember.

Dont expect all the things to be cute though as there are other buyers who would most likely prefer plain things.

    The things I bought:
-cute pink rabbit coin purse $2
    -polka-dotted makeup bag w/ bow $3
    -9 pack Pocky for $4
    -strawberry piggy bank $2

I love 'em all! I looked around the entire store with my boyfriend and took us about 2 hours i think?!  It was a really fun experience :)

PS: if you're looking to buy snacks there, some of them are more "expensive" compared to T&T or other stores that sell them.  For example, Yan Yan and Hello Panda are sold for $2.50 each but in T&T they're just a Dollar something.  But if you dont mind spending a few more loonies, then by all means! I still bought my pocky 'cause it was right in front of me ^_^

    Oh well, yay Daiso!

Somehow, this 2-story Daiso is the best outpost I've been to anywhere.  People from Japan think Daiso is full of cheap stuff that's not worth buying but this location has been like a mini trip to Japan everytime I've come and held me over in between trips to the motherland.  I live in Hawaii and with the tons of Japanese and Asians here, you would think that we'd have the best selection of Asian goods but no. Richmond Daiso wins the prize for the breadth of items that they offer.  It's difficult to compete with two stories of housewares, dishes, laundry accessories and more.  I've found everything from my butter container to plastic oil bottles and an entire series of Japanese mini cookbooks all for $2 CAD each.  Maybe this Daiso really is stellar or maybe it was built just for someone like me.  Either way, I'm a happy camper each time I know I'll be heading to Vancouver!

    Daiso is absolutely fantastic.

You can find pretty much anything here. And I really do mean anything: slippers, bartending tools, false eyelashes, hammers, office supplies, wooden spoons, parchment paper, smartphone protectors and cases, cleaning supplies, candy, sewing notions, fake flowers, kitchen utensils, Japanese stationary...I could go on and on and on.

Daiso is like your traditional dollar store, but better. About 90-95% of the store is stocked with items for $2, and there are some random items with prices as marked. You can easily spend at least a full afternoon scouring Daiso's two jam-packed floors. For the uninitiated, I recommend taking your time making your way through the store; translation: you will need at least a full hour, probably more.

Don't forget to check out Daiso's impressive selection of Japanese dinnerware (both ceramic/stoneware and plastic faux-lacquer) and their superb assortment of travel-sized bottles. Seriously. If you're traveling anytime soon, go to Daiso, where you'll find an incredible variety of flip-top squeeze bottles, pots, jars, and fine mist sprayers. They even have tools to help you fill unusually-shaped bottles.

    Mind-blowing!

This was my first Daiso store!  I had no idea we had it in the states.  This remains the largest and best Daiso I've been to.

I bought my friend a lucha libre mask here for $1 as a Canadian souvenir (never mind that it has nothing to do with Canada, and if anything, California was closer to Mexico).

I get overwhelmed when I step into Daiso, so I try to make sure I focus on what I 'need'.

Plastic storage containers for my crafts. Cheap eyebrow pencils. Cute engrish tupperware. Housewares. Whatever you need, Daiso has. And all those $2 items could end up to be a hefty bill. I try not to come in too often.

    I absolutely love Daiso.

Everything in the store for $2 each (unless specified) and the quality is a bit higher than most dollar stores.  I've noticed the staff are more friendlier the past few visits and I think they are making an effort.

Daiso is usually a 1 stop shop for me.  Take for example today, -I need tea cups, wrapping paper, soy sauce dishes, hand wipes, fake eyelashes, chopsticks and some clear boxes to organize my shoes.

    15 minutes.  Done.

I could seriously build my life with stuff from this store. Daiso has everything the cheap chic girl is looking for, and all for $2. They've got everything from plastic storage options to dishware and bakeware to cleaning supplies to clothes! My favourite section is the arts and crafts and kitchenware sections, I could get lost in there for hours.

The terrible thing is, I end up buying so much stuff! I'm always surprised about how much I spend despite the fact that everything is $2. But I look around my apartment and I can see each item put to good use (except the stuffed toys, I just like stuffed toys).

This place is awesome. Just awesome. When people come to visit, I sometimes take them here and let them run wild. Everyone is always as amazed as I am with this store. Their sister store in Chitown is nice, but doesn't have the selection that this one does (and some of those items are as much as $3!)

Mind you, it's no refunds or exchanges, so check your stuff thoroughly (especially dishware, for cracks).

Daiso is know my new favorite "asian general store", they had my favorite items from Japan (mainly food).

I was surprised that they had Kirin coffee and Pocari Sweat!

The staff are friendly and REALLY know what there doing, when I was checking out the clerk already knew the prices of all the things I picked out.

If there was ever a title for the coolest "thrift" store, Daiso would have my vote any day.  When I'm at Aberdeen, I'm either at the food court or I'm here.  99 cent stores in NY don't hold a candle to this amazing inventory of Japanese "everything."  From little gadgets to toiletries to snacks, this store of cheaply made Japanese stuff always has a crowd of people invading the store.

For a store that is constantly mobbed by folks resulting in bigger lines and stuffed aisles, the place is clean and organized.  The staff is usually able to make recommendations for almost everything.  Part of the experience is discovering new things while casually perusing.  This is the perfect store for a cheap gift - a gift that will likely impress the recipient (assuming they've never been to Japan or Daiso).

Most everything is roughly $2-3 CAD.  Backscratcher made from nice wood?  $2.  Translucent "fashionable" bandaids?  Also $2.  An iPhone cover / arm strap?  Only two bones and no more.  A 4 pack of body soap?  $3.  (Ok, everyone boo!)  I think the theme is becoming pretty clear, "quality cheap items" that is a reality more than an oxymoron.

One thing that should be noted is like most stores at Aberdeen, the staff is almost always going to be limited in English.  But don't let that keep you from taking a chance and buying something new, buyer's remorse is a rare affliction in a store as awesome as this.

How Daiso makes me feel better about the fact I'm shopping in a (two) dollar store is beyond me. It's still cheap, it still smells weird and most of it is still (maybe, probably) constructed by tiny hands in a factory overseas. But it's Daiso! It's Japanese! Kawaii!

Even more than that, it covers pretty much all of my (read: young, female, renter) requirements. The stock is varied and odd, with everything from snacks to balsa wood to bike parts to Japanese ceramic dishes to toys to tools - all for 2 bucks a pop! Well, almost all. Even dollar stores aren't immune to inflation it would seem.

But the real gem of the store are the silly notebooks that say things like "Mofi Loves J'adore Happy Puppy" or "Love Hearts Feel Fun!" It's kind of ironic really, because they pretty much sum up how I feel after leaving Daiso - slightly confused, but essentially pretty upbeat.

There once was a $2 store called Daiso,
That offers products with words like "love hug me bug" and 'Nice-O".
Aisles full of items so cute and sweet and cheap,
you fill your cart with all kinds of things to keep.
Pottery dishes, toys, novelties, and food,
You walk up to the counter with $2 items wondering how you ever found a place so good.

Its like entertainment and shopping all in one!  How can you go wrong?

I love Daiso. I really wish they had one in Edmonton. It's basically an Asian dollar (well, $2) store with a couple of other items for cheap.

I found that this location was pretty organized, considering the size of the store. I couldn't find any help from the staff though, as they were busy stocking items or at the till.

I'm still so amazed at the wide variety of things you can buy from this store. School supplies, house supplies, business supplies... Etc.

You can also buy food from here as well, but I wasn't too sure on the quality of the items so I chose not to try it out.

You can easily be a compulsive shopper in here if you don't know what you want though... But it's all good!

This place really is incredible. Sadly when I stopped in the other day I only had about 15 minutes to look around but this kind of place requires about an hour of your time - not only is it huge, it's two floors.

Daiso almost gave me an anxiety attack because when I walked in, there were so many things that I didn't even know what to look at first. They literally have everything you could ever need. As other reviewers pointed out, this is a great place for housewares. I seen some adorable drinking glasses with flowers and bears on them for a buck each. They also had a whole aisle of those little floor cushions with every animal, print, design, flower, etc. you could think of.

I bought an umbrella, some makeup sponges and cotton pads for about six bucks. I will certainly go back here soon when I have more time to look at everything.

I don't know why one would look forward to shopping at a dollar store in Richmond, BC but I know I do! It's a Japanese dollar store where everything I bought was $2...maybe there are some slightly higher priced items but I didn't see it. It's a concept from Japan so the quality and the selection is much better than the regular dollar stores that you encounter in Canada. This is the North American Flagship store that opened in 2003 and continues to be super popular. It's located in Aberdeen Mall and is the anchor tenant and takes up two floors.

Things are well organized and it's clean. This store is located in the heart of the main Chinese mall so it's all Asian staff and mostly Asian shoppers. The staff I encountered do speak English and some even have name tags that say that they speak English. Obviously there are some cheaper made items but that's more the exception in this store.

    Some notable items:
    - there's a pretty big home ware section that sells Japanese style plates, teapots and cups that are of good quality
    - kitchen supplies (egg beaters, spatulas, ladles etc) but this area has definitely shrunk down from my visit a few years ago
    - bento box section (molds for sandwiches and rice), fake grass that you sometimes see in Japanese meals etc
    - cute little drinking glasses
    - lots of travel containers for cosmetics, soaps, hair products (you can never have enough of these) and they are a fraction of the price compared to drug stores and Sephora
    - lots of pill containers and medical related items
    - laundry items (devices to hang dry sweaters, washing devices to put your delicates etc)
    - stationary, cute gift boxes/bags and organization stuff
    - the toy section looks a bit cheap so I wouldn't buy things from here

Get a FREE cup ...if you are not a Canadian. Go to the information center and show them your out of town ID card to get a coupon book. Look for a coupon to get a free gift. Give it to the cash register to redeem.

This place is pretty cool at first glance, however, be warned that many of the items Daiso sell are not made in Japan, but rather made in China. $2 for each of the items are actually more than what they are actually worth. In the US, you can find some of these items at the $.99 store. From a marketing point of view, this place hit the nail on the head in packaging their product. Hidden behind some excellent Japanese labeling, some of the products at first glance appears to be of high quality. It's not until you actually open the package that you can feel how cheaply they are made. A few of the items i've purchased have questionable useful life beyond 2 uses.

This store is a great addition to the Aberdeen Center. It's neat, it's organized, and there are plenty of novelty product you wouldn't find in any other stores in Canada or the US. This is precisely why so many Chinese shoppers are packed along the isle of this store because it feels like you are in a Japanese store, which many people perceive to be of high quality.

I give this place a 3 star for it's product quality, but a 4 for keeping me entertain.

This place also accepts US dollars.

This is one of the biggest Daiso stores I've been in. They have lots of those clear pocket notebooks which are always out of stock at my local Daiso. In general, they have many more choices for each item and you could easily spend hours browsing here. I wouldn't recommend buying any "steel" cookware here. The couple items I bought rusted after one use.
There is a covered parking lot attached to the mall but I would avoid it at all costs. It is crowded and dangerous.

Step one: Buy something here for cheap!
Step two: Use it a couple times
Step three: Forget you purchased it because It's broken or sitting in the back of some drawer because it never worked in the first place
Step four: Toss in the the trash or give to nephews & niece
Step five: Repeat like a sucker.

Binging, impulse buying and throw-away consumerism is the business model here. But it's so colourful and shiny here I can't help myself. Must have those plastic spatulas. Sure they will disintegrate after one use but they're so cute small and flourescent green and at 29¢ each who can go wrong? Better get about 20 or so.

Maybe it's me, it has to be me. I don't like Daiso as much as Yoyoyaya123. Looking at the reviews of the latter you see loads of scrooges complaining that it's a smaller, inferior version of Daiso. Well, yes, Yoyoyaya is smaller, but I have to say, I like it better. Behind the doors of the monstrous Daiso is an organized, yet unorganized store full of junk. Now, I certainly have nothing against junk, but with Daiso it's kind of overkill. It seems also, despite it being hailed and the kawaii mecca of the west cost, the adorable Japanese imports get buried in the bland, everyday household and craft items. Yes, there are a few cute things that you can get at Daiso that you can't get at my beloved Yoyoyaya, but they aren't really worth the trip.

Daiso sells better quality stuff than most dollar stores. Just think of it as the Japanese dollar store, except everything is two dollars and up. Interestingly, all of the products I've purchased at Daiso so far never ended up in the garbage due to quality issues. Just maybe, I know what to buy and what to avoid. If you're wondering, most of the products are made in China and the rest are made in Japan.

Some of the staff at Daiso aren't fluent in English, so you'll get the "Do you speak Chinese?", or "Do you speak Japanese?" Well, you'll get it if you look Asian and ask a question such as, "Do you sell cases for e-books readers?"

Daiso has raised their prices. Ouch. It used to be only 2 dollars for all items in the store, but… Read more »

I was so happy when Daiso opened! There are a few kitchen utensils that are necessities in Japan that I hadn't been able to get here. Also, loose-leaf refills to Japan-size planner binders. And clothespin-contraptions for drying laundry. And "kesho-sui", the watery thing to put on your face after washing it and before cream.

I love the cute water glasses, and Japanese-style dishes. If someone had given me a Daiso gift certificate for my wedding, I would have been set :)  I'm sure you've seen plates and tea cups from here at Japanese restaurants :)

One downside is, that I always walk out with more than I came for. The other is, that I can't bring 100-yen store souvenirs back from Japan and have people ooh and aah. They've seen it already at Daiso.

P.S. The reason that they have "more-than-2-dollar" items now is that the Daiso chain in Japan started to have "more-than-100-yen" items. It's not that they raised prices on its that were formerly $2.

There are so many cute bowl, plate and cup sets here it's retarded!! I didn't come in here looking for anything in particular, but I left with a few cute little metal tins that I have decided are now band-aid holders. Even though the package suggested cigarettes.

The amount of cheap makeup here is surprising, but I wouldn't trust it personally. I say go with a selection from their giant collection of fake lashes. That's where the bargain is.

Next time I go back, I think I'll be hitting up the stationary, gift wrapping and similar products section. They have lots of really cute themed notebooks and paper.

I also snagged two small boxes of Strawberry Pocky for $2.50. They didn't make it to the end of the day.

I'd go on about all the products they carry, but then I'd be going on forever, because they have everything. I'm not kidding. Nobody has time to write about EVERYTHING.

My dear hubby stumbled upon this place and came home raving about it... we HAD to go.

So we packed up the family and made the 50 minute trek to Richmond. Let me be clear about this part: I despise going to Richmond for any reason. Manoeuvring a vehicle into a mall or on the streets there makes the veins stand out in my forehead. As it was the line up to get into the parking garage at Aberdeen mall was at least 40 cars long...

So off to Daiso we went - it was cool. Lots of hilariously badly translated labels describing the product... that alone was worth the laugh.

Many useless items, but some really handy stuff. My husband bought a face roller to prevent swollen face for men. Who knows... maybe the Japanese have found the cure for swollen cheeks?

What I LOVED was the section of Japanese dishes... it was EPIC and beautiful. I now own very lovely Asian dessert bowls, and some cutie cutie little bowl things and cups and trays... It triggered my inner child who loves dollhouse furniture (you girls get that I know).

They do have everything, and you can spend an easy two hours trying to take it all in... but if Hello Kitty and pink crap aren't your thing you might be hard pressed to fill the hand basket.

But who doesn't want a paper fan that says "I am a monster how is eating you".

    It's the Asian dollar store!

Ok, nothing is $1 here, and mostly $2. What sets this place apart is that this consists of two massive floors of goodness.

Wicker baskets of all shapes and sizes, stationary-notebooks, pens, file folders, tape, binders, houseware, craft items, makeup, snacks, accessories, toys...basically everything and anything.

Stuff may have Japanese printed on the packaging, but I believe their items are all from China.

I always end up with random items that I don't really need. The best part about this place is exploring in it and being surprised at what you can find here.

    $2 heaven.

If you've just moved into a place and you need some extras, this is the place to go. Need kitchen gadgets? They've got em. All sorts of designs and colours and everything for two bucks. It's dangerous, really. Plastic storage containers o-plenty, makeup (crazy cheap, tho I've never bought it), fake eyelashes (total steal), gift wrapping supplies and boxes, cleaning supplies, snacks, socks... the list goes on and on.

Only come here if you truly need stuff because your mind will play jedi mind tricks on you and before you know it, you'll be hauling home bag of random stuff. Oh snap! That would be me!

Daiso: imagine IKEA, but for dollar stores.

Everything here is 2$ and up and they do have pretty much everything!!  kitchen, cleaning, storage, babywear, gift wrapping, bathroom stuff, craft supplies, things to help you start or quit smoking, toys, snackies, stationary... the list goes on.

Just like Ikea, make sure you already have planned ahead of time what you're looking for or else you may buy everything in the store.  :)

:D I love Daiso! You will find really unique gadgets there! They also have plenty of cute items too! And the best part of all is that almost everything is $2! I can spend 2 hours + in that store and I'll still be amused!

Side Note: ok, its an Asian dollar store (sort of...) so don't expect high quality stuff! You're looking at stuff that might break easily. I suggest reading the "made in.." bit of the sticker.

    I love this place !

This is not your typical cheap, made-in-china, use-it-once-and-throw-it-away-item dollar store

They have everything that you can think of - and the items are of good quality AND most of them are $2

I'm never going back to regular dollar stores now ...

all the crap that most dollar stores sell are basically useless and things you get repulsed by just looking at them

the items that daiso have are actually of pretty good quality - especially check out their stationary, kitchen & home ec/improvement sections !

I knocked off one star because for the items that are NOT $2, they do put up the signs of their actual price but are not too noticeable for a number of them and I was 'tricked' into buying a tray that I thought was a good deal at $2 but turned out to be $10 :O

they have no return/exchange policy so I'm stuck with the tray but there are so many other countless items that I bought @ daiso and still use/love
