Review from Lim K.
My husband is a white guy who loves spicy Korean food. So when we went to Vancouver to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary, the fist thing we looked for was a good Korean restaurant. By the recommendation of a hotel clerk, who happens to be from Seoul, Korea, we went to this place for dinner. We ordered some Kalbi, fish egg soup, and squid sauté. The Kalbi tasted good but was a little greasy. However, we were very delighted to taste the fish egg soup and squid sauté. Both dishes were spicy and were very delicious. We have tried the squid sauté from many different restaurants in the past but this was probably the best so far. My husband also loved the fish egg soup.
The service was okay. The waiter did not come back to ask us if we needed anything. He came only when we asked for more water. This is very common in Korean restaurants but they need to be more attentive to customers.
I would give 5 stars if the service was better. -

authentic quality korean food at 4th ave price. it's our choice of korean food in the neighborhoods when we don't feel like driving all the way out to coquitlam.

Good, solid Korean BBQ food, reasonable prices and melodramatic, awesome K-pop! We've been here many times and it's always good!
Lots of food to choose from - we have a particular liking for their BBQ but there's a wide range of yummy Korean cuisine.
There's always lots of seating available but when it gets crowded, the servers can get spread a little thin (so be aware, you may to have flip your own BBQ meat).
Good for lunches as well! -

The only real complaint of the night was the aloof service. The waiting staff were fine, but a little out of sorts. We ordered a set menu and they forgot to give us our side dishes of rice, kimchi, and assorted items. They seemed confused at the mistake, but did bring it promptly.
The food itself was really good. All the meat was fine and damn tasty. The beef and chicken in particular were really good and well prepared.
It was a good mix of dishes and styles with the great assortment of meat in vintage Korean style. There's just something about eating food straight from the grill that is incredibly satisfying.
It was another fun evening of good food and company.Listed in: Diverse Eateries

Dae Bak Bon Ga is a really nice place to eat Korean BBQ. Hmm... such a mediocre comment. Should I spice up the comment?
Meh. Maybe not.
Don't get me wrong though, this place is pretty good! We came here for dinner and ordered the chicken, spare rib, japchae and steamed pork belly. They're all really good, and we enjoyed our dinner. But theres nothing extremely special about this place.
The server's nice too, service was alright, not too fast, not too long. Well, the only 'meh' was that they served the chicken the last. After we were all pretty stuffed by the Cowrean spare ribs (haha, Korean - Cowrean, get it!!!)
WHAT ARE YOU STARING AT HUH?! LAUGH!!!
yeppp that's all I have to yelp about I guess. Price is alright, I think it's around $20 per person without drinks. -

My husband was craving for Korean food tonight and I didn't want to go to downtown. So I searched on Yelp and found with good review for Dae Bak Bon Ga.
When we walked in, it was empty except for 1 table at 7.10PM. Hmmm... that's ok. The menu have a lot of nice pictures and selection of food. It looked delicious and we almost wanted to try everything on the menu.
Overall, the foods were good and tasty.
Stone Bibimbab with Chicken - The chicken rice in stone bowl was pretty good, however, I just found few chicken slices.
Spicy Squid with rice in stone bowl- Taste delicious, just a bit too much sauce.
Marinated Beef Short ribs - Very tender and juicy
Pork Back Bone soup - Taste perfect!!
The service was great and the waitress was so friendly. -

Korean BBQ is just so amazing, this place falls a bit short compared to the better BBQ places I've been. Still, the service was excellent and you get plenty of delicious food. If this place was anything other than Korean BBQ I'd probably downgrade it to 3 stars. Extra star for genre I guess.

What a surprise!!
In the middle of Christmas shopping, my brother-n-law and I were starving. We passed on Refuel's burger special to try something my Bro-n-law may not have had a chance trying at home.
We approached Dae Bak Bon Ga, had one look at the lunch menu and walked right in.
I ordered the Spicy BBQ Pork, my brother ordered the assorted bbq dish. We added the Seafood/Veggie pancake to round out our food frenzy.
Portions were a decent size and the quality of the meats surpassed my expectations.
Service was good. I can't think of a single reason not to go back.
Yet again it amazes me that such great fare is passed up for such places on 4th ave like Sophie's and Las Margarita's. -

Don't let the drab exterior scare you away from Dae Bak Bon Ga; the specials are a steal! My partner and I visited this restaurant upon seeing their sign for the 6.95 bibimbap special (it was not served in a stone bowl, however, as other reviewers have mentioned). I was surprised to find the restaurant almost empty, a rarity in Kits on a Friday night. The service was promt and extremely friendly.
We both ordered the beef bibimbap, which also came with soup and a side of kimchi and potatoes. The bibimbap was large in quantity, however I was hoping for more vegetables, and less rice (but for $7 dollars, I shouldn't be expecting too much).
All in all, my craving for bibimbap was sated, and I will definitely be returning for another serving of $7 bibimap very soon. -

3.5 STARS.
We saw the place while passing by and decided to come back for dinner. Luckily this restaurant (the second location in Vancouver under the same name) just opened today at 6pm.
I like the ambiance with its modern dark interior which is a departure from traditional Korean restaurants we've been accustomed to. There are no booths, but tables are spaced apart graciously.
Pricing is very decent, but can also skyrocket if you get carried away with the variety of choices from the appies, casseroles, BBQ and Shabu Shabu.
Service is good and friendly of course being their first ever dinner service and with only a handful of patrons today. Everything is perfect up until asking the bill and asking for some take out boxes where there was a bit of a long pause as one of the staff had to wait for the other making us second-guess why he couldn't do it himself. Time will tell if they can keep up this friendly demeanor as they get busy.
As for the food, it was tasty from the Tofu Seafood Soup, the Dolsot Bibimbap, the marinated Beef, and finally the various Korean side dishes.
I could only wish they serve more side dishes as I noticed these days the Korean restaurants have been cutting the variety down to four. I'm used to seeing at least six.
If they can maintain the quality of ingredients and service, then they won't have any problem attracting repeat customers down the road. -

Just an update for any vegetarians or vegans that are drawn here because of the positive reviews stating that it's veg friendly. I just called the restaurant and their kimchi is made with bonito flakes - which is fish. I wouldn't say this place is vegetarian or vegan friendly.
For non-veg though it looks great. -

Dolsot Bibimbap in a hot stone bowl at lunch menu prices? Who's doing his own embarrassing, awkward-footed dance interpretation version of this year's Oscar-nominated films worthy of million view, Internet notoriety? This guy.
Banchan refills? Check. Super friendly server? Check. Quick and tidy service? My check-ticking hand is developing cramps! I was very happy with the food here, and although their kimchi was more on the spicy sour side (slightly less vinegary is more my style) it's a small quibble for an otherwise great experience. I'm definitely coming back here. -

It was my first time dining here and I have to say that my experience was pretty good. The service is decent, they're not aloof but they're not exactly on point either. But the food is great! We ordered the JapChae noodles with seafood, a seafood stew that came with rice, and the steamed dumplings. I've been to other Korean restaurants and must say that this is one of the better quality places. The prices are average, the bill for two of us came to about 50$ and that included tea and a soft drink. It's conveniently located in the heart of Kits.
I would definitely come back for some more! -

I found this restuarant with my trusty Yelp app on my iPhone! Was out and about over the weekend with my cousins from out of town. They were craving Korean food (none to be had where they are from) so I was eager to impress.
We stopped in around 12:30 for lunch and the place was empty except for one other table. The service was a bit slow. the two servers were off in the back chatting away, but then again we were busy chatting amoungst ourselves so we didn't mind too much.
We ordered the stone rice bowl, two set lunches (with a selection of meats for the grill) and the beef bone noodle soup.
The bibimbap was solid. And at a great price. We ordered the rice in a stone bowl and paid an extra buck or two for that.
The lunch sets came with some delish sides (the coleslaw was amazing!) The meat came out raw and sizzled away on the table top grill while we worked away at our other dishes. The meat was seasoned well and very tasty. If the fan above your table is not on, be sure to ask so that you don't end up smelling like bbq for the rest of the day. Our server forgot to turn ours on but was perfectly accomodating when we asked.
Saving the best for last... the beef bone noodle soup will knock your socks off! The soup tasted like it had been slow cooking for at least 24 hours... light, delicate and savoury, a strange combination of words to describe to be sure... but tis true... a pure broth that is uncluttered by an excess of spices... just amazing. It is because of this dish that I give this place 4 stars. I've never had Korean beef broth quite this good before.
Enjoy!
