Darcy McGee's has a couple of locations in Ottawa, none being quite the same. And although the name is the same along with the theme, the experiences differ greatly. For the Bells Corners location you will immediately see that it is attached to a hotel. this is both a negative and a positive. Obviously the pub brings in people from the hotel, guaranteeing business, but few people want to make a night of it at some bar beside a random hotel. Remove the hotel from the equation, and we get to the heart of the issue: Bells Corners no longer has much of a night life, so after stopping by Darcy McGee's for a few pints, where do you go? There is the Cock & Bull and Local Heroes, and that is about it. Darcy McGee's itself is a great looking bar. Everything is finished in wood, the seats are comfortable and music is always playing in one form or another. They go to great lengths to keep the atmosphere fairly authentic and they do a good job. A couple of years ago Guinness and the owners of Darcy McGee's (Prime Restaurants) held a bartending competition here. The food is a mix of traditional Irish food and classic North America fare. The quality is great, portions are big and nothing bad can really be said about it. Same goes for the booze. The bar is big and fully stocked. Beer, liquor, win, you'll find it at Darcy McGee's. If it wasn't for its poor location, this decent pub would be something really popular.
