My laptop stopped working in the middle of midterms and I really needed it fixed right away.  I called a local computer repair shop and was told that it would take them several days until they could look at my computer.  Additionally they charged a somewhat costly fee simply to diagnose the issue.

Faced with a time crunch, I looked on Yelp and luckily came across the many good reviews for Ryan at CC&R in the Outer Sunset.  In addition to building custom computers, Ryan also does hardware repairs and fixes programming issues.

Ryan was able to quickly accept my laptop at 8pm, and spent the night and the next day diagnosing and fixing the problem.  His hours are flexible and he doesn't drag out his work over several days.  I was very impressed at the speed with which he was able to work on things, and the completeness of his work.  In addition to fixing a software bug issue, he did a diagnosis of the health of my drives, my virus software, and recommended a switch to a free program, which he did for me.   The cost of his help, considering the level of attention and speed, was quite fair.

It should be noted that Ryan is a local college student.  I'm quite happy to be helping someone who is working his way through school.  I appreciated his help so much that I created a Yelp account just to leave a good review.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Can't recall the last time I worked with anyone as efficient, responsive, flexible, proficient, transparent, tactful, and thorough, as Ryan - and his services are reasonably priced!

I had Ryan build a custom computer after his prompt assessment of my decade-old desktop with many issues had me realizing it'd be less cost-effective to repair vs. replace it. He compiled a list of specs and estimates quickly, but didn't rush me into committing. In fact, he encouraged me to research comparable off-the-shelf systems, named one as a start, and welcomed any questions.

After exploring, I still went the custom-built route due to the product fitting my needs; Ryan's expertise; the reasonable costs; and feeling I'd receive good customer service, which Ryan exceeded in delivering:

First, he caught a minor typo in his estimates. While it wouldn't have affected the estimated grand total, he wanted to be sure I was still good to go before starting the work. Greatly appreciated.

We had also been communicating by phone and email, but a technical issue led to his not receiving my emails after the first few. Prior to this discovery, I'd approach our calls as if he'd gotten my emails, but the potential for miscommunication was averted by Ryan's remarkable tact (as it turned out, his email host had undergone maintenance unbeknownst to him).

Lastly, Ryan informed me about a glitch while configuring the computer, and outlined plans b and c if a re-attempt didn't work. I appreciated his communicativeness, desire to perform quality work, and methodical solutions; and he still completed the work at an impressive pace!

Our transactions likely would've lasted just 1-2-weeks, but on top of a busy work schedule, I had to go out of town 1 week, then caught the flu. As a result, we interacted over a span of 1 month, and Ryan was accommodating throughout.

As for the new computer, I've noticed details of its set-up that reflect Ryan's attentiveness, and I couldn't be more satisfied.

Ryan's professionalism will take him far in whatever career he holds, well after he graduates (please don't ever turn corrupt by unscrupulous influences out there!).

Ryan's great.  I'm kind of on the fence about getting a new computer and needed to know what I was getting into.  After finding him on yelp, I asked him to be a consultant while I basically rambled about things I needed in my computer and my concerns.  1) because I need something that can have Photoshop, Illustrator, and music all up with no problems, 2) something that can graphically handle a 3-D modeling program, and 3) I'm pretty sure my use of those programs killed my work computer in the past year.

Anyways, I sent him an email as rambl-y as this review and he is the utmost professional.  Not only did he address my questions about price ranges and spec requirements, he reiterated my needs to make sure we were on the same page.  His feedback made searching for different computers very easy and his estimates on how much I would need to invest in a solid laptop workstation (for my needs) were on point.  I replied back with computer models I was looking at and more specific questions, and again, super helpful and in a timely manner (he was more professional about this than I was).

Long story short, I have friends I could ask but they would've convinced me that I needed some silly expensive supercomputer which is why I appreciated Ryan's help so much.  If I have a real computer problem and not just a lazy I-don't-want-to-understand-computer-specs problem, I will definitely enlist Ryan's help again.

We were looking for someone who could come to our house on a Sunday and debug my husband's desktop which was making him crazy. We could not figure out why it was so sluggish, and my husband had spent fruitless hours with the Dell support line and still could not get to the bottom of the problem!

Ryan was great! Reasonably priced, came to our house and diagnosed the problem quickly. He is indeed smart, professional, quick to discern the problems (there were a few interrelated issues, none of which ever would have been picked up by an phone support person). Ryan was also very pleasant and takes credit cards. I like the idea of supporting a college student instead of a soulless corporation!

    Very highly recommended!

Nowadays with the proliferation of computers and their related accessories,  something will always go wrong.  There is a huge market for computer repairs, but choosing one is always difficult.  I've called various computer stores in my area for service and get the feeling that I am being ripped off.  They either don't know what they are talking about or try to scam you into buying something unneeded (see my Act Net review).  Additionally, many of the technicians at these local computer stores talk down to you and seem impatient or irritated that you have a computer problem.  It must be that their business is so overwhelming that they can pick and choose their customers.

Recently, I had a hard disk that went bad and couldn't recover some Turbo Tax files.  Stupid me, I forgot to back up last years data.  My wife had inquired with a local store on Geary, but they seemed disinterested.  They were not optimistic and wanted a minimum of $60 just to look at the computer with no guarantee of data recovery.

Therefore, I went to Craigslist and type in computer services in my neighborhood and discovered Ryan Gingerich, 925 979-5044, DJNONAYM@gmail.com.  The company name is CC&R for Custom Computes & Repairs.  His ad included a wide assortment of computer services including building new custom computers.

After an exchange of e-mails and speaking with him, I got the impression that he had an excellent background in diagnostics.  Since he lived nearby, I jumped on my bicycle and took my old hard drive to him.  He was confident and not cocky and was very reassuring.  He said that he would not charge us if he couldn't recover the data.  A few hours later, he called and recovered my data.  He then connected to my computer remotely with Team Viewer and inserted the data directly into my hard drive.  What service!

I picked up the hard drive the next day and apparently the hard drive was infected with a virus from the master boot ...., even though I had the latest up-to-date virus cleaner from Zone Alarm.  He cleaned my old hard drive and said it is still useable.  It is an 80 gb drive and I will use it for a back-up.  His fee was a very reasonable $75.

My wife wanted to use him to assess her computer and he came over the next day and spent several hours installing new virus protection, getting rid of adware, and generally cleaning up her computer.  His fee was only $50 which is very reasonable.

Ryan will be starting as a student at San Francisco State and is doing this computer work on the side.  He is competent, pleasant, efficient, reasonably price, and has excellent customer service skills.  Certainly I highly recommend his services, particularly the data recovery.

Last weekend,  my laptop was broken and then I searched for computer repairs on Yelp.  Luckily, I found CC&R with good reviews.  My experience with Ryan was very good. He repaired my old HP laptop and changed my hard drive to a new one.  Now my laptop works very well.  Ryan is smart and awesome.  If you have any problem associated with computers, contact with him immediately and he will help you out.  Overall, five stars review and excellent services!! Thanks Ryan~

Ryan is a GODSEND!  A couple nights ago, my external hard drive failed.  Everything...and I mean EVERYTHING (from work documents to my wedding photos to even my son's baby photos) were on there and I had no way of accessing it anywhere.  I panicked immediately until my husband found Ryan on Yelp.  It was 9 in the evening, after hours for Ryan, but he took my external hard drive anyway to start the recovery process.  He was very quick to respond and would give us updates on the recovery status every time we'd call or e-mail.  In two days, my external hard drive was FULLY recovered all thanks to Ryan.  I can't thank him enough for all of his help!!!
