VEGANS! Have no fear, this Indian food truck is SUPER SUPER Vegan friendly!
My BF I decided to wait in line for this truck out of all the trucks at Off The Grid because I had heard so many good things about this place! He ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala burrito and I got the Vegan burrito. We also shared a Deconstructed Samosa.
The Vegan burrito was bomb, filled with rice, cinnamon-like seasoning, and fried potatoes. I tried the Chicken Tikka Masala burrito and it was definitely interesting. Not nearly as good as the Chicken Tikka Masala you can get at an actual Indian restaurant, but pretty unique and good for coming out of a food truck.
Lastly, the Deconstructed Samosa was the most interesting thing we got. Normally samosa are just one huge deep fried triangle, but dish was many mini samosas with toppings on top. DEFINITELY my favorite dish out of all the ones we tried.
Really enjoyed the food here, don't know if I'd go out of my way and wait a good 30-40 min to try it again but it's definitely worth it if it's your first time! -

Points for creativity, but the food is not that great.
They were at the LunchBox in SOMA, and I got the Tikka Masala Burrito and the Sexy Fries. Now I like spicy food, and I mean authentically spicy food, but whatever spice they put in the tikka masala gave me a stomachache.
While the Sexy Fries looked fantastic, they were half raw. Crunchy raw potato is not sexy.
Really disappointing, and this is the first time I've ever I've ever said that about a food truck. Never coming back again. -

Chicken Tikka Masala burrito is nom nom! Would be 5 star but the online ordering process is a bit broken. I also considered using the APP to order but the reviews were terrible siting that orders placed with the app aren't communicated to the truck.
I Placed my order online but they had no record of it when I arrived. Go figure. They were good about getting me the food I paid for but sorta defeats the purpose of ordering ahead of time - or even having that option.
Chicken Tikka Masala is really good. Ingredients tasted fresh and delicious. I asked for a little extra spice in mine and blam, they delivered. Runny nose - affirmative.
I'll definitely repeat. -

One of the best places I've found to eat in San Francisco, Curry Up Now serves an interesting twist on the run of the mill burrito. I eat here more often than I probably should, but I really can't get enough of their delicious burritos, and judging by the regular lines, either can anyone else. There are choices for our vegan, vegetarian and meat eating friends alike, and while I'm normally a sucker for chicken, their paneer tikka masala is by far my favorite.
The burritos themselves come with a perfect blend of rice, beans, filling of choice, and a healthy dose of spiciness. The spiciness can vary from day to day, so don't be surprised if you don't remember it being as hot or mild as last time. And speaking of hot - these things burn! If heat is for you, then you should be happy, and if not, they come in a mild form too.
Although my stomach lining probably hates me, I'll be back soon. By far my favorite food truck. -

I ordered the Chicken Masala burrito for lunch. With others waiting, I was surprised when she handed me my change and the burrito. The burrito was really tasty! The only problem I had with it was it was too spicy (maybe 7-8 on a scale of 10). I almost could not finish it because of how hot it was.
Next time, I'll ask if they can turn down the spiciness. (Overall Grade: B+) -

I'm obsessed with Curry Up Now. I am not just replacing "I like" with "I'm obsessed with" to be cute. I'm pretty sure thinking about curry all day and getting on the subway a few times a week to hit the Bush truck for lunch merits "obsessed."
I love this truck so much. People seem to have a low tolerance for spiciness--I'm not judging, just noting--because I would describe the spice level "moderate." It makes my nose run a bit but it's not FIRE IN MY MOUTH status at all. More importantly, their food is delicious.
Here are the things I eat at least three times per week:
Tikka Masala Burrito: the crown jewel of Curry Up Now, this thing comes packed with your chosen meat or cheese tikka masala, pickled onions (I love these things and could eat them on their own, breath be damned), rice, and some garbanzo action. It's amazingly, magically delicious, and it's $8 for at least two meals (I'm an average-sized female so maybe one meal for you burly men or 4 meals for you waify supermodels).
Deconstructed samosa: This stroke of genius is a smashed samosa topped with garbanzo action, chutneys, and your chosen meat. It's savory and has more flavor than the burrito. It's the food snob choice, but I'm often lured back to the burrito when I need more of a curry kick. The decon isn't actually curry, contrary to popular belief. ...I'm not sure that's true since the definition of curry seems to be "some spices together" but it's definitely not tikka masala as in the burrito.
BOTH OF THESE ITEMS ARE AMAZING.* I really can't overstate this. I've had a ton of Indian food from all sorts of places, but I'm in no way an expert, so I'm not going to compare CUN to Indian food as a whole. I have no idea how authentic it is, nor do I care. Curry Up Now does not speak for all of Indian cuisine. It speaks for all of delicious cuisine. Try it, love it, go back, borrow your friend's car to go to the restaurant, suffer dreams about it, call in sick to a meeting so you can curry up, force your spice-hating friends to love it, become That Person who just talks about curry all the time...
Maybe it's actually a life ruiner, now that I think about it. Avoid it at all costs. At the very least, it'll ruin your local sandwich shop for you. More curry for me.
*Other menu items are delicious as well--I just consider these two the stars of the menu. Feel free to construct your own opinion and write me an angry message. -

DAMN, this stuff is spicy.
The Chicken Tikki Masala Burrito is great. The creamy sauce is wonderful; the rice is great too. The chicken was flavorful as well. The mango lassi is a great way to kill the heat from the burrito.
The deconstructed samosa is great. The spice is strong, but its still good.
I love going to off the grid and getting this food. Although I will warn you, they sell out of the mango lassi within the first couple of hours and they make the burritos beforehand, but that's all okay.
Will have to try some of the other stuff; the naughty naan...sounds interesting. -

Wish I could be "a fan" but it was almost inevitable that I wouldn't be considering that I can't really eat spicy food. However, this fact doesn't always communicate with my taste buds. I always want to try everything just to say that I have, and Curry Up Now was no exception.
We ordered the Tikka Masala Burrito and the Veggie Samosa at the 2010 Eat Real Festival. I have no idea what either of these things are so I thank the person taking our order for being extremely patient with us.
They were both delicious! I like the burrito better than the samosa, but both were just too spicy for me to finish. So I reluctantly handed them off to be devoured by another. Oh, and if their food isn't spicy enough for you, they have even more hot sauces for you to add to your order. -

Finally I try Curry Up Now. I was trying to find a "lighter" option and thought that their deconstructed samusa is the answer. Wrong! It's samusa topped by chicken tikka masala so it's still pretty heavy. But the chicken tikka masala was good, so whatevs.
In addition to the deconstructed samusa, I bought additional 2 samusas (2/$3). It's perfectly crispy. However it had a very strong freezer burn smell. One of them actually had a very strange taste too. I'm not sure what happened, maybe it's an old batch?
Being one of the very first food trucks, their setup is the most organized. They literally can just close their window and take off as soon as they're done, since all of their equipments are attached to their truck. That's pretty cool! -
Review from Kyle D.
Lost, hungry and alone, a certain art student found himself wandering the busy streets of Montgomery. It was then when an obnoxiously bright orange and purple food truck appeared under a veil of light on the other side of the street, surrounded by a crowd of scary elitist white people.
JK. Anyways, Curry Up Now is a fine example of fusion food done right. Never saw or even heard of the truck before; I just saw the crazy line of people waiting. It can't be horrible if there is that many people, right?
You might want to stop by early to avoid the lunch rush. I ordered the chicken tikka masala burrito, and it was freaking delicious. I don't consider myself an expert on Indian food, but I am an expert on what tastes good. The chicken bits were tender and well proportioned. The onions had a delightful crunch. The chick peas almost had a lovely potato-esque texture. And the sauce...oh the sauce. It is quite spicy, but rich in flavor. The tortilla itself was perfectly chewy as well.
Only thing was that the wait was a little jarring. Plus some of the orders were given out of order, which definitely annoyed a number of customers, including myself. But it was ultimately worth it. Just be sure to have some water with you for that fiery masala! Muy caliente! -

Since I started working in the FiDi almost a year ago, I've been dying to try this food truck. It finally happened this past Monday. I went to it around 1pm, waiting in a semi short line, and was at the front in a matter of minutes. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala burrito, which is what I've been hearing and thinking about this entire time. It was really good! However I'm a HUGE sauce person, and I wish I would have had some chutney or something to put on it, the burrito would have been exponentially better :). But it was great, and it did not weigh me down like I thought it would. It IS huge, but I ate it at a pretty slow pace, and really enjoyed it. I will definitely come back to the food truck on Bush street, but maybe not for a while.

Their indian burrito was one of the best things we tried at Sactomofo 4. Curry chicken and rice and such in a burrito? Brilliant! The contents were awesome all on their own, and then you add the portability of the burrito. The consistancy and construction was just right so that you could eat it without it getting everywhere.
And the burrito was pretty big for the price. A solid 5 stars on this place! Ill be back for sure! -

Soooo, I got the Tiki Masala Burrito for lunch yesterday.
I love curry but to be honest, my stomach just wasnt the same for hours after.
I think I need my curry to be over rice or something, but this burrito is no joke. Definately for the stong willed stomachs for sures.
Lots of onions in it too, maybe too much.
Sorry, but I wont be going here again.
There are plenty of food trucks that I can go to where I'm not hating myself for hours after :x -

Tried the Decon Samosa, Naughty Naan and the Burrito with Paneer. The samosas were not completely fried and the potato filling inside was so stale it was stinking. The Naan and the burrito had beans overloaded with spices and chutneys.
I grew up in Bombay, India and I can assure you Indian food is not supposed to be like this. It's clearly made by someone who doesn't get it. It may work well for folks who think Indian food == spices. Sorry, that's just not true.
Very disappointed, never again. -

Ordered the goat curry over rice special. I got about 3 morsels of goat, the rest of the lumps turned out to be shards of bone. It was also way too spicy. I love spicy food, but this masked the flavor of everything else. In fact, I would wager that the extra spice was added to numb your esophagus so you wouldn't notice it being punctured by the bones you didn't realize you were eating.
Seriously, the bone shards were potentially lethal. I'm ok with a few bones, but a warning would be good (required?). Replacing the meat with bones and disguising them with sauce is downright criminal. And for $10. -

The Tikka Masala burrito is the bomb!!
I'm not normally a fan of paying $8 for a burrito from a food truck, but the fact the burrito made the top 100 list for the Big Eat SF in 7x7 Magazine pushed me to try. Dang, was it worth the try!
Wrapped in a fresh tortilla was chicken tikka masala, Indian rice, chickpeas, and lots of flavor. Now, I just need to find the truck again at the next Off The Grid! -

OK I Am pissed offffffff !
The quality of food here is inconsistent ... Maybe Americans cannot see the difference.
People flock up and make a line which is a mile long, but is it really worth it ?
I have been to this place many times, and every time the experience is different, mostly bad !
I believe the curry up staff has become complacent since the food is selling a lot. But saying that the truck opens at 11:30 and then opening it at 11:45 is not acceptable. We have work to do !
Then they take up bulk orders and cannot keep up with it.
After a long wait, order no.20 was delivered, but my order no.10 was still not ready. I mean common..you just have to mix 4 things in a box !! I had to intervene and ask if there was any progress on my order. I could clearly see that everyone was making burritos and nobody paid attention to other orders. Then after 15 minutes, I am given my food.
Curry Up..you do not respect my time, I am not coming back. -
Review from Zain D.
Their PTM Burrito is amazing! Holy crap that thing is huge and there're so many different flavors, spices and textures going on. The rich curry, the soft rice, the tender paneer, the crunchy onions and the firm garbanzo beans all work so well together.
If only they went the extra mile and put it in naan, that's all I ask. Some soft buttery naan. Or even a roti but come on, a tortilla?? Your delicious curry deserves better.
None the less, I'll be back because of the delicious curry, the friendly service and even the reasonable price but NOT because of that tortilla! -

Since the first time I went to Curry Up Now I had wanted to try their Sexy Fries. Every time I tired to order them they were sold out!
Finally a couple of weeks ago at Off the Grid Hayes Valley I was able to try the Sexy Fries. I ordered them with chicken tikka masala. They were amazing. The criss cut fries were perfectly cooked and crispy. The chicken was super spicy, tender, and delicious. My only grip is that the cheese on top didn't completely melt, but it definitely didn't ruin the dish.Listed in: Lunch Spots, Food Trucks and Carts

I just wrote a scathing review for an Indian restaurant, and I realized I should be thankful we have trucks like Curry Up Now.
Delicious food that makes you feel like your money was well spent. I had the 'sexy fries' with paneer tikka masala -- drool worthy stuff. I ordered online and that helped me skip the long long line. Nice friendly staff as well! -

Me: Hi, I'd like the paneer tikka masala burrito, spicy please.
Food Truck Dude: It comes with a kick. You sure you want it spicier?
Me: Yes, please, extra-spicy.
FTD: So how spicy do you want it? You want it really spicy?
Me: Yes. Extra spicy.
FTD: OK, cuz it's gonna be really spicy.
Me: (getting annoyed). Yep. That's what I want.
... 10 minutes later, handing me the burrito....
FTD: OK, this is REALLY spicy. You sure?
Me: I know I'm a white girl, but yes.
Seriously, dude?
I'm half way through the thing and my nose isn't even running. Also, it's not really that great. :/ -

Curry Up Now is just okay. Their CTM burrito is not as satisfying as a burrito from your fave taqueria, and if you're looking for Indian food, not saucy enough either. But it's worth a try.
The CTM burrito has components of a burrito and it's spicy and dry. You got your basmati rice, chickpeas, and chicken. It's a bit expensive (8+ dollars) and I really just felt like I was eating spicy rice wrapped in a tortilla with bits of chicken surprises. -

Boyfriend and I went here for lunch and got the Chicken Tikka Masala burrito and the "Kathi Rolls".
The burritos were already made and ready to go for the customers and the Kathi Rolls were made to order. Despite the fact that the menu had written "rolls" (plural) it was really just one big roll (was expecting multiple tiny rolls, like an Indian Spring Roll type deal). It was pretty good but nothing memorable.
The Chicken Tikka Masala Burrito was pretty good. It was Chicken Tikka Masala, rice and beans. Kind if boring after couple of bites. When ordering an $8 buritto I kind of expect a little more layering. Definately needed some acidity (like maybe a pico de gayo or tomato chutney) in the burrito. It is definately big, got 3 meals out of it. After I took it home I broke open the tortilla, chopped the chicken up (was a little too chunky for me, would have better if shredded or had just smaller pieces), added tomatoes and cheese and it was a million times better.
Overall this was just an okay experience. Didn't really live up to the hype, that could be because I have one of the best Indian Fusion restaurants 2 minutes from my Boyfriends house (Pizza and Curry) and kind of compare to them a lot.
ANYWAYS, I would probably rather try a new truck before coming here again. Would be interested in trying their other products though in the future. -

I'm a purist, and the biggest advocate against anything "fusion." If you're going to do a cuisine, my motto is: do it authentic, do it right!
But alas, it looks like I belong to a fading regime of fusion-haters in SF, where anything and everything is put together and made surprisingly, better!
Perfect example of this: Curry Up Now's Chicken Tikka Masala burrito.
Yummmmmy! Alone, the chicken tikka masala sauce was really, really good. The creamy sauce hit every note: savory, spicy, and spicy. Combined with the tender chunks of chicken and flavorful rice, all wrapped up in a soft flour tortilla, every bite was an explosion of flavor and taste sensations. I vaguely recall sour cream, fresh avocado, and garbanzo beans, but I can't remember. My eyes were rolled back into my head and I was DEVOURING the burrito.
Curry Up Now has become one of my 3 favorite food trucks in SF (the other 2 being Chairman Bao and 3-SUM). A definite must-try at any Off the Grid gathering of food trucks. -

7x7! I'm on a roll, speaking of roll (awkward transition to...)
Burritos! Let's specifically talk about those fusion burritos. Curry Up Now serves this thing called a Chicken Tikka Masala burrito. It is delicious! I love the spicy sauce, yum yum yum. All that goodness wrapped up, without ever needing a utensil. It's 8 dollars, and they accept credit card--which is totally awesome for a food truck. You instantly get your burrito when you order, so that's awesome. My friend ordered the Sexy Fries, and mmmhmm they looked enticing. Maybe next time.
Tip #1: you might want to order ahead of time because the line is long!
Tip #2: bring a drink/water or buy at the truck. Although I was totally fine with the spiciness, my friend was sweating from the heat, yowza! -

Another 7x7 big eat crossed off my list. I ordered the Tikka Masala burrito and it was ready right when I ordered which I was not used to from a food truck but it was a nice surprise. This was a large burrito and it was good and had a good kick to it too. Now I understand why there is always a long line here unless you show up after the lunch rush (which I luckily did).

I love curry up now, I salivate just thinking about their tikka masala burritos. I'm salivating right now as I write this review. But I have two small issues that knocks them down a star. Yes, I know I'm being nitpicky.
1. Their regular spice level isn't quite spicy enough for me, but when I asked for it a little spicier than normal, it about burned a hole in my mouth. I love spicy food, but this was painful. Sniffling and crying, I still finished it because it was damn good. So to be safe I now order it standard wishing it were a tad bit spicier.
2. Please chop up your chicken into smaller pieces. There are large chunks thrown in and not incorporated very well, so you end up with bites of rice and sauce and then suddenly have to work your way around a way too big chunk of chicken. No bueno.
Other than that, keep doing what you're doing, CUN. I may have to get a burrito for dinner now. -

Met my friend for lunch at 12:20pm today. The line wasn't long, only 3 or 4 people in front of us (probably because of the rainy weather). The line went pretty fast and the burritos are all pre-made and ready to go.
I got the chicken tikka masala burrito and a mango lassi. The burrito is delicious. There are large chunks of tender chicken and the rice is moist and flavorful from the curry sauce. I liked that that there were garbanzo beans too. The mango lassi is pretty good- full of mango flavor, not overly sweet, but a tad too thick for my taste.
I tried a bite of my friend's sexy fries which are sweet potato fries topped with chicken tikka masala and cheese. Ehh, they weren't that good and the fries weren't crispy at all. For a few more dollars, I'd rather get a burrito which is much more filling. -

I work at Montgomery and Bush so the truck is almost unavoidable. I've grabbed lunch here twice before: the first time it was good, the second time less so and my order was wrong. Today I saw the '$10 Pork Belly Burrito' sign and had to stop. The pork belly was cooked perfectly but the rest of the burrito was so soaked in grease it leaked through the tortilla, the tinfoil and the paper bag, got all over my hands and my dress and left the burrito inedible. I won't be back.

Awesome, delicious Indian food...not exactly traditional, but oh-so-yummy! We saw them at the Pleasanton Food Truck festival over the weekend. Service was fast, prices are reasonable, and food is hot and delicious. We were quite surprised that there was hardly any line. Maybe that represents how efficient they are.
We tried the deconstructed chicken samosa. It came in a small box, but it was a generous amount of tender garbanzo beans, samosa wrapper, savory meat, and peppers. I'm a fan of garbanzos...and these were among the tastiest I've ever had. Super tender and creamy. Nothing like the stuff out of cans. I loved the combination of Indian spices. The hotness level was a tad intense for this spicy wimp, but I'm sure most people would find it acceptable.
The other thing we ordered was a ground beef keema. The savory flavors of the ground beef and Indian spices played well together. The intensely meaty juices were kept in check by the egg-based wrapper. It was sort of like eating an omelette burrito. It warmed my belly on a cold Pleasanton night.
This food truck beats out the other Indian food trucks we've tried. Even better than a lot of sit-down Indian restaurants. I highly recommend you to Curry Up Now! -

I love this food truck! Their wraps are enough to fill you up for less than ten dollars.
I highly recommend the paneer masala wrap.
Tips:
1) Be prepared to wait in line for about 20 to 30 minutes. This truck is pretty popular.
2) Do not request your dish be made spicy unless you want it atomic. If you do, I suggest you grab some extra napkins. You will be sweating!
3) Don't forget to ask for chutney. They carry it, but you have to ask. ;)
4) If you're not a huge onion fan, make sure you request no onions. They really pack 'em in there. -
Review from Sylvia D.
Gone are the days where I worked directly across the street from where Curry Up Now parked itself at Bush and Sansome. I miss peering off the building's balcony to see if the truck arrived and being one of the first in line. Now that I'm back in the South Bay, it's too bad that CUN is a rarity in the South Bay. But when this beautiful yellow food truck does roll into San Jose, at least there aren't 45-minute lunch waits like there are in the FiDi.
Here's the breakdown...
- Tikka masala burrito: The chicken in the chicken TMB is too dry for my liking and the onions have that raw onion taste because they're are cut a tad too big and/or not cooked long enough. For those reasons, I always go for the paneer TMB. The TMB is way better than some non-Indian burritos out there. Solid.
- Deconstructed samosa: Almost as big as a baby's head. Serious.
- Sexy fries: Criss-cut sweet potato fries lovingly smothered with your choice of chicken or paneer tikka masala, then sprinkled with melted shredded cheese. What a way to one-up chili cheese fries. Damn.
- Mango lassi: I'm no lassi expert so I can't comment on it's authenticity or whether it's the best lassi ever. I will say that the mango lassi pairs is a great counterpart to the spices found in the food. Mmm.

I can't get enough! I love the Organic Chicken Tikka Masala Burrito and I have not tried anything else. Don't let the line discourage you, the wait isn't as bad as it looks.
