Not only do I travel a lot, I'm also a photography junkie and gadget-head. Especially when traveling internationally, I hate carrying the typical gear bags one can find at camera shops (*ahem*Lowepro*ahem*) because they're so obviously for camera gear, and I don't want to be a bag-nabbing target. So, when I need a stylish bag to carry bag to carry my gear that also doesn't scream HEEYYYYYY!!! THERE'S THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF PHOTO EQUIPMENT AND AN EXPENSIVE LAPTOP IN THIS BAG! MUG ME!!!, I turn to Crumpler.

The bags are expensive, yes. But they're also very protective for my precious stuff. So far, I've bought three bags (the Six Million Dollar Home, the Customary Barge, and the Local Identity), and they've all lasted the beatings of baggage handling, being kicked under plane seats, squashed into overhead baggage compartments and thrown around trains -- and my camera, lenses and laptop have survived it all.

Not to mention the service at Crumpler has been top notch. The only sore spot is their no refunds (exchanges only) policy -- which is a big hard to swallow when a bag can cost more than $275. However, recently, when I bought a new laptop/camera backpack but wasn't sure if it would fit the stuff I wanted to carry, the manager was able to make an exception for me. That's customer service I can live with.

I bought a bag here that I love, but only because it was more than 1/2 off. Luckily other people do not like the same colors as I do.

Their bags are nice and staff are helpful but the prices are high.

Crumpler makes rugged bags for laptops, bike couriers and cameras. I personally have a few of their bags and love them due to their durability (made of materials such as 1000d Nylon - one of the toughest nylons on the market). You can purchase these bags at local shops such as Henry's or Vistek, but this official Crumpler store has far more selection. They carry bags to suit everything from point and shoot cameras all the way up to SLRs with multiple lenses plus bags for 13", 15" and 17" laptops.

Every now and again Crumpler will hold 'Beer for Bags' events where you can bring in certain amounts of beer and redeem them for various bags in stock. They are also taking part in http://westqueenwest.ca/ and can be found on Twitter using crumplercanada. They have free schwag and stickers on their front counter. Crumpler also repairs their own bags locally.

I had never heard of Crumpler before I visited the store, but it certainly gave me the impression that I should have.  For those of you out of the loop like me, Crumpler is an Australian store which specializes in bags of all sorts.  They are all really nice bags and before I checked out the price tags they all looked very appealing, but then the other shoe dropped.  I realize that I am a fairly frugal person, I work (relatively) hard for the money I earn and don't like to throw it away frivolously.  Spending $90 for a messenger bag is not something I will willingly do, nor will I spend $50 on a laptop case, just a case, not the bag, the case.  I wouldn't recommend Crumpler to people like me who are frugal, but if you are wealthy and looking for a very expensive way to protect your laptop, then Crumpler is the place for you.

I've been a fan of their camera bags for a while, but I didn't realize they had such a large selection of bags.  I love the vintage Toshiba laptop they had on display with their notebook sleeves (see picture).  Sure you're going to pay a little more for their products but you'll get more than your investment back.  I have yet to burn through one of their bags before getting tired of it.

Crumpler makes some of my favorite bags! Whenever I am need of a new bag I always check out what Crumpler has first. If you need a bag especially one for carrying around a camera I highly recommend checking out the store.
