Thanks guys for a great hair cut!!
This place is amazing.  A small vintage barber shop that does it proper!
Aside from it being best haircut I have had, I was very surprised at the price, VERY reasonable.  I did not feel rushed at all, Jon took his time and I felt taken care of.
I will continue to go back.
    Cheers

Created a Yelp account just so I could post a review. Then I realized that I don't have much to add on top of the reviews below. Simply put this place is awesome. Jon gave me the best haircut I've ever had. My new barbershop in T.O.

I booked an appointment at Crow's Nest Barber Shop after scoring an invite to their awesome 1 yr party. I loved the look of the shop (Vintage Barbering Tools, Antique What Not & Religious Items, My kind of stuff) I always drive to Waterloo, ON to get my haircut by the same man, every single time, But based on trusted recommendations on Yelp (Thanks Eric M.) I decided to see if they would take me... *Sorry Seann G, I am a Woman*

I have always loved a Barbershop Cut, I started out as a kid going to a barber with my Dad, a Small Town with few choices, but I always thought the barber shop was top notch with the cool aesthetic and fast, efficient no fluff service.

I booked an appointment with Matt (Book an Appointment, it is the best way) Matt was extremely friend, asked great questions about the cut and got to it pretty much right away. That being said, he took his time and made sure I was liking where it was going... which trust me, I didn't know it could be this good! I was offered a coke in a glass bottle ( my favourite drink of all time, specifically in that form) I revealed I am a licensed hairstylist & trained barber that works in the city too, and that I love what they do there. Matt gave me a haircut that still has me all fired up. I met Jon as well, quite the gentleman.

The Cut was great, the mood was good and the gentlemen working there are very much about the trade and the true aesthetic of the shop. I asked Matt if they are alright with having women in, and he said "For your Type of Haircut, Of course... We wouldn't turn you away these are the haircuts we cut. (I have a Classic Pomp Sidewinder, Faded) But They can do any men's cut with perfection!

With the haircut being the best I have had in ages, and Matt being so skilled and professional I will certainly see him again, he is my new barber in the city. (I may become an every 3 weeks girl) They also sell Lay-rite, a Heavy Gel Substance that rocks for Pomp's & Sidewinders & Flat Tops...

A few side notes, They have an apprentice there, I believe his name is Jimmy. He is very skilled *I saw him do a straight razor shave while I was there, flawless* He does Apprentice Cuts for $15.00, They are skilled and make China Town look like... well China Town... and you are getting a great cut for $10 Off at the most rad place in Kensington by far. Support the new guy, It will pay off for you when he is the old guy and he has known your bobble head for years...

I find the $25.00 for the cuts to be a steal of a deal, Matt is Super Skilled and comes from a Family of Hair people, his own Father comes from and still works in the trade.

I am the most thrilled to give this 5 out of 5, and though it is rare I give a perfect review, My experience there was just that... Perfect!

PS: I added some pics, the place is awesome!

Found this place online when I was looking for a place that does hot towel shaves. They do an AMAZING straight razor shave and have since come back to get a haircut from them as well. It was wicked. Besides the fact that they are awesome at what they do, the barber shop is amazing and pretty much a museum of old religious stuff and barbering equipment. SooOOoo, if you have am amazing moustache, yes they have an authentic moustache curler to make your mo look dapper (it looks similar to a normal curling iron but is wicked small).

The staff are all lovely, you'll leave looking bonermeltingly hot and wont pay an arm and a leg for it, lucky you.

I booked an appointment after reading an article online about Barber Shops being the last bastion of men only exclusivity. Previously I had been frequenting salons to get my hair done, paying upwards of $50 a cut. Switching to a barber was the best decision I ever made, and the Crowsnest staff will make your transition swift and easy. They do men's hair right, pure and simple.

You don't have to be super cool to go, but you will feel cool, and you'll look great. Can't praise this place enough!

I usually walk out spending between $40-50 as I buy my hair products from them as well. But if you're just looking for a cut, $25 will get you out the door looking good (shame on you for not tipping).

    I'll be short and sweet.

I have had the classic $4 Chinatown haircut. Most were crap, one was near perfect every time. I have had the $60+ haircuts at salons, typically winding up with something a little too 'arty' for me. I once even tried cutting my own hair. That was terrible, and I swore to myself I would never subject anyone to that atrocity ever again.

Enter the Crow's Nest. A cozy spot under the King of Kensington where you pay a bit more for a haircut, but you really get full service, and you never feel rushed.

The guys are rad, the cuts are flawless, and you leave feeling like you didn't pay enough, even with the hefty tip.

Do your mom a favour: go get a nice haircut at the Crow's Nest. Then call her. Then stop listening to music with so much swearing, and why do you have to spit so much?! Okay, scratch everything but the part about getting that nice haircut. Go. Now.

I was walking around Chinatown at about 6am when visiting Toronto for business.  I stumbled on Kensington and kind of wandered up and down the street.  This place struck me as perfect for a haircut and I returned later that afternoon and got my hair cut.  The guys that run the place were really friendly and care about what they do.  Also, someone's dog just hangs out on one of the old school theatre seats for waiting customers.  This is the kind of shop that makes me love going to the barber.

Every once in a while I find a place that I just don't want to tell anyone else about. It's selfish but you can't go giving it all away for free now can you? Crows Nest Barbershop is that kind place.

Tucked away in the basement of a clothing shop on Kensington Ave is one of the best barbershops I have ever seen. It's small and feels like a club house, the way barbershops were meant to be.

The shop tends to cater to a more classic style of haircut. Don't be surprised if you see a good solid pompadour stroll out before you sit down. Crows Nest sells pomades and other hair styling products as well.

There are only two chairs and one barber so you will probably have to plan ahead and make an appointment. If you're in a rush, this is not the place to go. I had the chance to sit down, relax a bit and read old (not classic, I mean printed in the 50s "old") hot rod magazines while the young man in the chair ahead of me got a lesson on how to pomp his hair. All the while I kept wondering why there aren't more places like this.
