I've never stayed at a Crowne Plaza before but I do have to say I was impressed. The hotel staff made our stay extremely enjoyable. Courtesy is second nature to everyone we interacted with. They're all so nice even to our two young boys who are in the autism spectrum. Needless to say, they can be challenging, but everyone from the restaurant staff (look for Emelita) and bar staff (ask for Michael) were amazing.
Besides the staff making our stay enjoyable, the breakfast buffet, lunch, dinner and bat menu were all delicious. Please note that we didn't being our boys at the bar. We had our teen daughter keep an eye on them while my wife and I had a drink.
The location is also near many fine restaurants and the high end mall, Galleria.
We'll definitely be staying here again if we visit Addison, TX (just north of Dallas) again. -

I was here for FenCon, a local SF convention, and was very pleased with the place. The layout is very good for a convention hotel, especially one of the less than 1000 people size.
The hotel had a decent buffet at a great price. The options weren't bad, the food quality was OK, but for 12 bucks including tax and tip, you can not go wrong.
The problems were minor. No free WiFi, the desk staff was helpful but kinda scattered, and the internet room had at least two machines that weren't working well, but all-in-all, I'd stay here again -

Nice pool and hot tub area... But very disappointing to find out they do not free wifi in the rooms like most hotels... I mean even the
motel 6 offers it... Also do NOT forget anything in your room after check out... the front desk clerk's are rude about it and it never reappears... -

I've stayed at better and less expensive hotels. The website was misleading. There is only free Internet in the lobby. You have to pay for Internet in the rooms. I came here for a seminar so that was useless. The shower knob came off. No flat screen tv in the rooms. Expected better. Unclean glasses. There were dried food particles left on the glasses. Unclean comforters. Looked like there was poop stains on one of them. No microwaves and fridges in a lot of rooms. That was very inconvenient. Horrible stay. Would rather stay at the Marriott next door for half the cost where my other friends were at.

Just stayed here for a business trip. The hotel itself is a bit dated like most Crowne Plaza's I have seen. The rooms are spacious but carpets are old, bed spread has a hole in it, pillows had black spots on there and the bathroom tiles are old and dirty. It's a serviceable hotel. What I like about it is the location since it is two minutes from the Galleria mall and not too far away from DFW.
A couple of other negatives about the hotel, they put me in a room where the shower has handicap access (not sure why) which means there is nothing separating the shower. This resulted in the water going to the floor in the middle of the bathroom and that is rather messy. The next negative was they didn't clean my room (maybe they walked by and saw do not disturb) and when I got back around 4:30, it still wasn't cleaned. However I called and they took care of it. -

For the most part, I enjoy my stay at this hotel. I can tell you all about how the staff is always courteous, the room is always well kept.
So, Beth, you ask, why the 2 star rating? Are you just a mean, mean girl?
No.
They get a 2 star rating because every time I stay there, I call ahead and remind them to make a note not to include their little satchel of DEATH on my bed and they never listen. I'm highly allergic to lavender. They give you little bags of lavender to freshen your sheets. Well, unless they want me to have an attack and possibly die -- not a good addition to my room. When I see it, I have someone throw it out.
I stay there 2 times a year for around 4 years now. They have never remembered to remove the lavender from my room.
It's as if they want a lawsuit. -

So I was there for a black tie charity fundraiser and wasn't sure what to expect from the hotel having never been there before. Fears aside, young tuxe'd man as all was fine!
I was greeted warmly by the staff because I wasn't sure where to go and they guided me to my party. Once there, the bartenders were quick and efficent pouring me a glass of the grape, my friends were pleased also and that was fine. The security was also pretty good, as they handled the event with aplomb and I didn't see anything that made people bad mouth them. ( I have been to my share of black ties and have seen security just ruin events or parties but not here)
I would recommend people to stay here, great location and professional attitudes were all around! -

I practically live in hotels (business travel). I come to Addison often and decided to stay at the Crown Plaza since it was fairly close to my office. Probably won't do so again.
Where do I start? In all fairness, the rate was very good. Took about 5 minutes longer than usual to check in due to what appeared to be newer counter staff. Went to my room only to find a huge hole in the ceiling (was a sprinkler without the plastic frame around the actual sprinkler head). The Internet was not working (was not advised of this during check-in).
Got a new room for the night then shortened my stay at this hotel from 3 nights to 1. Many hotels in Addison.... I'll steer away from this one in the future. -

I left this weekend's high-tech conference at the Crowne Plaza Addison very impressed with the facility, their "over-the-top" associates, great food and beverage team, and (most importantly) the hotel's warmth and attention to our group.
The rooms were clean and updated. With 429 rooms and 32,000 sqft of meeting space, the hotel was perfect for our group's 300+ attendees!
Good job Crowne Plaza Addison. Keep it up! -

I have never stayed overnight at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Addison, but I can attest to the warmth and hospitality of their staff. As a former employee of a large hotel chain that rhymes with Farriott, I can speak from some experience.
I attended a large, high-tech conference at the hotel, and was continually impressed by how willing the staff was to help out and get you an answer to any question you had. If you had any questions, you only needed to find someone wearing a name tag, and they would help you find an answer quickly.
The food and beverage staff were great! They directed us where to eat and were quick with drink refills and clearing away dirty dishes, which is really all you can ask for in a buffet-type situation.
The facilities were top-notch. There was lots of room for the 300+ folks in attendance to move around and find places to recharge equipment or find a quiet place to talk on the phone. Having attended conferences that didn't have these sorts of amenities, I can tell you they are sorely missed when they're not there. The Crowne Plaza had it in spades!
I haven't ever stayed overnight at the Crowne Plaza, I said when I led off this review, but that will probably change as my wife and I take one of those 'stay-cation' these kids keep talking about. When I go to make reservations, I will remember the great staff at the Crowne Plaza Addison, and will be back! -

I recently attended a two day conference at the hotel and was very pleased with everything overall, including their wireless connection for a 500+ person event where most of the people are wireless users.
The only reason I won't give 5 stars is because their food wasn't the greatest. -

Stayed at Crowne Plaza for the weekend.
- The hotel is a weird shape; i felt like we were walking around forever.
- There "is" access from the garage area.
Find the closes elevator and use it to get around with the room
key. (saves you tons of time!)
- The room was very clean
- There was a relaxation kit on the bed. It consisted of...
a) lavender linen spray
it has faint scent of lavender and it was pretty soothing.
b) eye mask-cover
c) ear plug
d) relaxation CD (which is all talking - no music)
complimentary thing, so can't complain right??
- The hotel itself is promoting eco-friendliness so if you can
afford re-using your towel, its a plus.
- Sprinkler goes on at night. (11ish) The grass gets really wet,
so watch out!!
no complaints from me. over-all experience at the hotel, splendid! -

Walked into my room... ohhh no way, small, 2 queen beds, I felt claustrophobic!
I walked downstairs and requested another room.. they were super accommodating! While i waited the shuttle service brought me to the Galleria Mall - nice touch..
When I got back I was moved up to the 4th floor, the room was sooo much better! All you have to do is ask.
I was pretty tired from traveling and walking around the galleria so I ordered room service from McAurthur's which is downstairs.. I had the salmon.. not bad..
Beds are comfy, service is good.. Not top of the line but for 1 night it definitely works. When back in Dallas I'd stay here again - it's close to the clients location and good enough for me. -

The people at the Crowne Plaza are some of the best I've ever interacted with in the hospitality business.
I'm running a major conference at the hotel, so I've interacted with literally every single function in the hotel. All have been incredibly service oriented and each person works hard to help us in any way possible.
I've got nothing but Love for the Crowne Plaza and highly recommend it! -

For one night, this place was fine. Room was nice. Bed was alright. I liked the bath amenities - they smelled good. :) There were a few other nice touches like a clip for the window shades so you could clip them together to prevent any light from coming in.
However, a couple minor problems...
(1) The rooms are not soundproof. Our room was right by the elevator so I could hear that dinging. Also, I could hear the person above us walking around.
(2) The A/C system was NOISY! And I didn't mind that it was noisy, but it was more that whenever it started up or shut down, it would make a big racket. It woke me up more than once. If I had stayed there a second night, I probably just would have tried to figure out a way to get it to run continuously.
(Neither of those problems were endemic just to our room either - we had friends in other rooms who had similar problems.)
So, if you plan to stay here, ask for a room away from the elevators, hope no one is in the room above you, and test your A/C unit before you run it overnight to see if its noise is going to bother you. -

The Crown Plaza has been just amazing. The staff was friendly, helpful and responsive every step of the way. The remodeling makes the hotel feel like new. The food was notably good, not something you can say about every hotel and the amenities were nice.
Particularly notable is their new internet pipeline is fast and reliable. I was part of a team that recently ran a big tech conference there and we put it to the test!
If a clean, nice comfortable room a reliable high-speed (not pseudo-high speed) internet are on your list of "must haves" the Crowne Plaza is a "Must stay".
Also a short drive to a TON of restaurants. -

While the food was okay, the service here both times was TERRIBLE.
The first time, my party of four was reseated twice. First, we were directed to one table, then we were moved to another, and then we were moved to a third when that table already had someone sitting there. After this, the waitress immediately filled all of our cups with water before we could take them up to the breakfast buffet to fill them with milk or orange juice. We ended up taking cups from other tables. Then, after we were done, the waitress tried to lecture us on how to sign a bill after we had paid. Her tone was extremely condescending and she wouldn't let us leave without signing our copy as well. Bizarre!
The second time, I came down to the breakfast buffet alone. No one was there to greet me at all, so after waiting for a few minutes, I sat down someplace. In the middle of eating, a waiter came up to me and asked me if I had a meal coupon. I said that I didn't, and he replied, "Well, this isn't free, you know?" Keeping my cool, I said, "I fully intend to pay for it." Seriously, what the heck? I sat down at the place in designer clothing, freshly showered, and you think that I'm too cheap to pay for the breakfast buffet? I tend to be really good at keeping my composure and not losing it, but I was really close at this point. I paid my $10 and left.
Seriously, I won't be coming back here anytime soon. I'll just head to someplace else that's close for breakfast.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I attended a Army Reserve Conference here and the place is great , the food is pretty good, the facilities are descent. I would say if you want to use the gym, that is a little small compared to a large hotel, but it works. The service is great and the rooms are clean. There are lots of places to eat where you can either walk to or drive. The service from the staff is great and the snack that we had during the conf were great and imitative, we had popcorn and some candy, which was good during a long conference at 2:00pm
If you have to be at a conference and close to the Airport (DWI), 20 min, this is the place to be.
On the down side you do not have WiFi in the room, but if you have a HTC phone you can tether and it works fine. You can get hard-line but will cost you about 10 bucks a day. Just get a phone that access WiFi. WiFI is available for free in the lobby.
Bottom-line, a great place to stay -

I am so tired of businesses that take your credit card number and then feel they have the freedom to charge fees without your approval. I made a 5 day reservation at this hotel and was told that I was paying a rate that would allow me to cancel any night without penalty. I had a very specific conversation about this with the eager reservation agent. I was paying a premium rate for this option! Then when I got the confirmation email (a few minutes later) it showed he had not booked the 5th night as I had requested. I immediately call back to make the correction. The "new agent" told me that I would have a cancellation penalty if I cancelled any night. I told him that was not the arrangement I had made and I wanted him to cancel the whole reservation if that was the case. He told me he would be charging $153 to my credit card! I told him it was stealing and that he needed to turn me over to a supervisor to ensure that that was not going to happen. He held me on the line for 15 minutes and then hung up. And you wonder why there is road rage. What happened to the day when you could call a hotel and speak with an agent IN THE HOTEL and not live in fear that they will steal your money. I am furious.

We recently held a large conference at the Crowne Plaza in Addison. This group of people is one of the finest I've ever worked with. They were extremely accommodating and attentive to our needs. The rooms were immaculate and the food, both catered and restaurant were wonderful.
I even recommended the Crowne Plaza to a friend of mine who will be hosting a similarly sized event. He was VERY impressed with how wonderful the facility was.
Thank you Crowne Plaza for helping to make our conference the best it could be. -

The Crowne Plaza Addison hosted the OpenCamp conference this past weekend. I helped organize it and got to meet a lot of the staff. They were all extremely nice and interested in making every guest's experience a great one. They cared, and the rooms were very comfortable. A great experience, and I definitely recommend it!

The food was very good and all of the staff was so friendly and nice! They were so patient and accommodating with all 600 of us that it was amazing! The conference pretty much took over the hotel and it was just the perfect space! It's a great place to stay!

I was at a conference for OpenCamp at the Crowne Plaza this weekend and I have to say that everything the hotel did was flawless! Fast friendly service! Great food and wonderful beds. Even though I only live 7 miles away I was so glad that I stayed at the hotel. If you need a place in the Dallas area to hold a conference or you just need a room for the night, you can not go wrong at the Addison Crowne Plaza!

I agree with the other reviews.
PROS
1. I love the gym. It's probably the nicest one I have seen in a hotel, and they have gym quality towels, tv's, water and hand sanitizer. Put it this way, I belong to Equinox at home, and I was happy with what they had to offer.
2. The breakfast is really darn tasty.... mmm grits, amazing biscuits, eggs any way you want and fruit... need I go on? Oh, and if you aren't going to eat all of that then you can get the continental style (basically, no hot food) for $7.95. Cheap!
3. Room service is very fast and friendly, and the food is decent (again, huge Texas portions)
4. Beds are comfy
CONS
1. OMG this place is huge. I've gotten lost every time I have gone to my room, and the signs do not make sense. You follow one and then a minute later after having not turned at all another sign will say you went in the wrong direction. UGH!
2. VERY old. The rooms need a face lift. The tv's are old school... a box with the curved screen (circa late 90s?), and it doesn't pull out. So if you want to sit anywhere but on the bed or couch then you can't see the tv.
3. They charge $10/day for Internet, and it is plug in only and not wireless. There is free wireless in the lobby... that is if you can find the lobby after spending 10 minutes trying to find your room.
4. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner and stuff. The stuff here is of Suave quality (although I don't know that it is really Suave). I just personally would not use it.
5. I had an issue with my key. It didn't work. So I called from someone else's room, and it took them 25 minutes to come rescue me. I just thought that was a really long time. Granted, I could have just walked to the lobby, but I was carrying a lot of stuff, and it is soooo far away...
I would stay here again for business. I'm not sure I would stay here for a vacation or anything. -
