Review from Jennifer L.
We drove up to this place and thought we'd be in and out within 20 minutes. Boy, were we wrong. It took us an hour and a half to fully explore what this place has to offer. The venue is not big, but you will learn a lot.
You don't have to set up an appointment to visit, just drop by during operating hours, and they will give you a tour.
The highlights are:
1. Two wild cats that are of a different breed, one usually a prey of the other, living peacefully together.
2. A small crocodile that was able to slash through the knuckle of the handler. It was probably a foot long.
3. Two 12-14 foot crocodiles that was being fed by hand. Unfortunately, when we were there, they didn't want to feed. The handler used to carry them until they got too heavy. And one of them was able to open an unlocked gate by herself. Smart huh?
4. A couple of tortoises eating carrots out of the hands of a bunch of 6 year old kids.
5. Being able to pet a small crocodile (and smell them?) as it was being handled by the guide.
Doug mentioned that they were moving to a bigger and better facility sometime soon so that they can house more animals.
Good to know: because crocodiles and alligators rely on ambushing their prey, it is unlikely they would engage in a prolonged chase. In addition, the best way to avoid a crocodile or alligator is to stay away from the water. Reference: Mythbusters
