After FAILing to get a seat at Khao San Road, my gf and I dashed over Crocodile Rock. Dashed because it was freezing, not because we knew that Crocodile Rock was good.

But it was, it was a good time. The decor was jungle/swamp-esque. Reminded me of Rainforest Cafe for adults. We knew there was bar food featured here, but didn't know about their 1/2 priced apps and discounted burgers. Discount because $2 was shaved off the original price to be donated towards Movember. What an awesome deal. So the burger and fries came to $8 bucks. Although the burger was below average (dry bun, very standard toppings), it tasted fine and the portion was standard.
We also ordered two apps, the coconut shrimp and pinwheels.
Both were tasty and were 4 bucks each. With a coke, the bill came up to 22 bucks. That's impressive for a full dinner with apps.

Martini's were $4 that night as well. Aside from the food, the atmosphere was nice. My gf liked the music, I liked the theme and decor, it suited us both. Apparently the drinks here are cheap and I can definitely see us having a great time here on a Friday or Saturday night.

Overall, this two-floored resto-club was better than I could imagine. I always thought it was a club. The food was good for the price, but not worth the full price. Drink prices were good and the service was good as well. It's a casual atmosphere that let's adults be adult's in the jungle. Beware of Cougars.

Admit it: this place is fun!

It may be a notorious cougar bar, but the place has a very friendly atmosphere and it's a bit on the older side; a great alternative to the many student clubs in T.O. The staff are very friendly and it has a great dance floor. While it may not be my first choice for a night out, it still provides a good enough time (which is more than many other clubs can claim in T. O.)

My Friend and I LOVE this place.

I am 25 and it's definitely a cougar bar so for you yonger ones you might be a little stunned to see people there that are your parents age lol.

I love the company though it's a nice mix from dancing and there is I think 2 pool tables.

The music is a good mix of everyone too.  Friday night is ladies free!

Crock Rock is famous for being a cougar hunting place - which is true, especially on Wednesdays. Wednesdays is supposed to be 911 night - anybody in the uniform can get in for free (usual cover is $5), but in reality I been there tons of times on Wednesdays and never saw anyone with a uniform.

Anyways, what I am trying to say is that despite its reputation of a cougar bar there are a variety of people who go there: young people attracted by $4 beers, after work party people, visiting people and just people who want to pick somebody up quickly.

I love the an assuming atmosphere, even if you don't know how to dance, you can still get up on a speakers and do your thing. People will cheer you up and laugh with you.

I gave it 4 out 5 for one reason, if you come there on Wed, Fri, Sat at 12 the place is so crowded you can barely move and dance, hence my dancing on speakers.

This place is the best on Thursday nights! 1/2 price appetizers, and ultra cheap booze (used to have $3-4 shots and $2.80-5 beer!!!).
The food is actually pretty decent and the atmosphere is good in the summer. They have one of the greatest rooftop patios as well with a great view of the financial district! Be sure to check it out in the summer.

Warning to the younger crowd: while there are lots of younger people, this is a designated cougar bar!!! Watch your drink!

I agree wtih Melissa F. This place promises a good time, with an eclectic range of bar goers.

The drinks were well priced ($4 test tube shots) and the service pretty good. The music offered great dancibility.

This place does get busy and the dance floor on the main leve pretty packed. The second floor often offers a more relaxed environment, with a pool table and a more relaxed croud.

you know what?  this place is pretty fun.
Don't come expecting anything and you'll end up having a much more amazing night.  Not that this place is bad, but it just isn't any of the descriptors you would choose for a "good time" at a club (i.e. trendy, glossy, interesting, cool, good looking).

But I love it nonetheless because its sort of the bar that everyone goes to to not expect anything and have a good time.  It is known as a cougar bar but I can't for the life of me understand why it remains with this misnomer.  There is a DEFINITE range in the crowd from people 19-50.  And there is an amazing range of bay streeters to 905ers.  Which is cool.  I like that it is an easy place, with top40.

I just like small bars better...ok prices, crap beers, mixed crowd and ok music.  This is the type of place I associate with Cancun or Tijuana more than Toronto's scene...

I have an odd love-hate relationship with Croc Rock. I thank the place for providing me with a 'few' great nights out, but on most nights I've been there I found it to be totally obnoxious. The place tries to be many things at once and fails at all of them. First, it's a sports bar with the TV's (especially the big one over the dance floor or a live band) showing us any and all sports, even when the music is blasting and the people are dancing. It's a dance club with a mini-dance floor, cheap lighting, and a hockey game playing on the big screen above it - kind of lame and off-putting. The sound system is really distorted and dated along with the TV's. It's a restaurant with waitresses, menu, food etc. The place is like a hyperactive child with attention deficit disorder. It does get crowded late nights, really crowded, and the people, much like the music and the place itself is a mixed bag. You got everything from tourists from the nearby hotels, workers from the nearby office buildings, and club goers wanting to get a few cheap drinks in before heading off to the soon-to-be-nonexistent dance clubs. Security presence is quite apparent, while they do let you get away with a lot (like my drunken self dancing on the narrow 3-foot ledge above the dance floor) I have seen them kick people out for being drunk and belligerent and for fighting. The vibes are usually positive, but I can sense a bad nasty undercurrent from people there just wanting to fight or cause trouble. I'm not in love with Croc Rock, yet at the same time I don't totally hate it.
