Oakland, CA
Two main things: The food is delicious! The service is terrible!
The food is always amazing, I've had several of the sandwiches and they're all really great with vegetarian and gluten free options! The portions are obscene! You and a friend could share a plate and be very satisfied and the prices are pretty low!
The service was pretty sad... the counter staff was surly as were several of the waitresses who seemed not happy to be alive much less fetching water. There was one really nice one though!
I'd recommend it for getting food to go any day! -
Review from Andrew C.
Your standard "chalkboard crêperie" type of place a la Squat & Gobble or Crêpes on Cole in SF with savory & sweet crêpes, sandwiches, and other cafe fare written up on a large chalkboard menu.
My last visit, I got the Tuscany which is a chicken pesto crepe (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) which turned out to be pretty sauce heavy and somewhat oily.
Crêpes are the over-stuffed variety and would make a Ti Couz fan faint. You do get a lot of food with the salad and potatoes.
Decent omelettes, salads & sandwiches. Not a destination, but will fill you up for a decent price, if you're in the area. -

The chain crepe restaurant is not bad at all. Huge portions for its price. My favorite thing here is actually the side salad and the house potatoes that you get when you order a crepe or sandwich.
The sandwich that I alway order is the crepevine club, which consist of bacon, grilled chicken, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and sourdough bread.
The salad has the home-made vingrette dreasing! It is delicious. I cant find a dressing that tastes the same!
The house potatoes are also good. Pretty crunch to it and a huge rosemary flavor. Yummy -
Review from Anna M.
It's fine, I guess. This location is definitely better than the one in Berkeley, and I appreciate anywhere that helps out us gluten-free victims, but the crepes are gloppy and overstuffed, in my opinion. Their fries are delicious, the portions are huge, and I love any place that gives you a salad with your meal...
...but the people who work there look like they're undergoing slow torture and the food that the place is named after is just not very good.
I guess if you've never had a crepe before, these wouldn't be too bad. -

Surly staff, filthy floors, burned (black char) home fries. The only reason this place is in business is its location.

First off, I am a fan of any place that has outside seating and lets my dog sit with his family while we enjoy a meal. Stopped here to grab a bite to eat. All members in our party like their food....tuna sandwhich, salad, cheesburger, and wrap. The fries were good and so were the portions. I would like to come back and try their breakfast because it looked so tasty. Nice place to people watch as well...interested characters walking up and down the street. Can't believe I never cam here when I was at CAL...I do recommend it to students as well--not too pricey.

It's true ... gluten-free crepes! And they were damned good, too. Portions were big enough to share with my gluten-eating husband, who thought the GF crepes were just as tasty as the regular.
Service was just ok. Too bad that the location can get cramped and noisy, but ah well. Lovely fast eats in Rockridge. -
Review from Kadi D.
Oakland, CA
I have gone to this location several times over the last few months because its close to my home & well... who wouldn't want a crepe once in awhile! I'm downgrading my review after I've noticed some consistent patterns at the restaurant.
1. The service is consistently poor! The cashiers always look annoyed as they tap away at the register carelessly. I usually order the same thing so I know when my bill is wrong most times, the last time I went in, I decided I would order the 1/2 sandwich & salad option... funny thing was that this "combo" which included 1/2 a sandwich & 1/2 a salad cost $1 more than the "regular" order which came with a full sandwich, a side salad & fries... It's one thing to be overcharged, it's another to realize that the cashier knew this & never thought to mention it to the customer! Once I realized it, I asked the girl & she just stared blankly at me completely perplexed as to why I would prefer to change my order...
2. The last few times I've gone in, I've had to chase down my own table settings, request refills and remind the servers that portions of my order had not been received (15-20 minutes later).
3. Others are correct in noting what appears to be a decline in the quality of ingredients, lately the crepes have been rubbery and sparse. Along with the decline in quality, the prices are still pretty high, an average breakfast (with bacon) can run between $10-$15... Add to that, the idea that you have to order at the register, table service has been increasing slow & it's not worth the cost.
Having all that said, I will probably give the place another try because the location is convenient, and the food isn't "horrible", but it's not a place that I would take someone I wanted to impress, which is sad because the location, setting and concept have real potential.
I'm not really sure why the employees always look so miserable, but if there was a single message I would give to the management/owners of this place, it would be to focus on this issue as it appears to have a consistently negative impact on customers, invest in your people & encourage them to embrace a less apathetic stance. Try to figure out what the problem is... Are they feeling underpaid; overworked; under-appreciated? A positive experience for your employees will translate into positive experiences for customers... happy customers tend to review everything in a more positive light.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Sorry, Crepevine. You used to be good. Now I know better.
Whoever has experienced the frustration of ordering takeout only to realize when you get home that they completely screwed up your order knows the silent rage that overtakes you on such occasion. Could have, would have, should have checked the order before leaving the restaurant. Instead I went home with a completely different pasta and an inedible salad. Really, when you get home and sit down after ordering takeout because you were obviously too hungry or couldn't be bothered to cook or whip anything up, there's nothing more disappointing that opening up the wrong punch of the cashier's register button.
I asked for the Capri pasta: angel hair with spicy marinara and shrimp. Instead I got a pile of gag-inducing fettuccine swimming in a pool of white cream sauce mixed with chunks of dry flavorless salmon. I also got the Nicoise salad and the tuna was bloody and super scary looking. Usually weird looking food doesn't faze me, but one bite later I was officially grossed out.
So what did I do? Threw my food a Liz "what the WHAT!?" Lemon and carried on with my life.
Seems to me the quality of the ingredients has gone down considerably from what I've experienced the past. Coming here for a crepe or an omelet is generally safe, but this time disappointed me so much I think I won't be back for a long time. Should have known better. It's called CREPEvine for a reason. Had the Santa Fe and it was delicious. The crepes were super light and the chicken apple sausage blended in nicely with the scrambled eggs and was rich and juicy. Their potato wedges left a lil to be desired as i they were burned and not very seasoned. Overall a nice place for lunch.

Every so often, when I spend the day alone, I sometimes go here and have a burger and a screwdriver. The staff is really nice and my food always comes in a timely manner. I usually sit upstairs, because the population of children is non- existent.

I live about half of a mile away so I tend to go to Crepevine pretty often.
Bangkok salad, abruzzo pasta, tuscany crepe, and burlingame crepe are my favoriteeeeee. -

I've had some delicious crepes in my time and these were sub par. I thought the incredients looked delicious, but once everything was on our plate, it was nothing to really ooh and ahh over.
San Francisco is known for its amazing food; if you're only here for a pastry and coffee, I say go for it... but if you're only visiting (as we were) and are looking for some amazing eats to write home about, this is probably not the place to go. -

Am visiting the East Bay, got off a plane was went here for lunch. I had a burger with cheddar cheese - it was DELICIOUS! Perfectly cooked with yummy seasoned fries on the side, along with a LARGE salad that i didn't really want/need. I think I would have preferred more fries, but then again, this is the East Bay! Healthy, healthy, healthy! I really enjoyed my meal here and would come back again. It reminded me A LOT of Squat 'n' Gobble (of which I am also a fan!). The staff wasn't particularly friendly, but they were efficient and the food was great - so I'm not complaining :)

Whether it has been a crepe, sandwich, or their breakfasts, I have liked everything that I have come across.
The staff is usually friendly and even though they are always busy it is nice atmosphere and I love the patio area to sit out and chat on a nice day:-) -

What is not to love about Crepevine? It's a popular spot to go to for brunch and I recently just tried it for my very first time.
Order at the register and they bring your order to where you're seated. I had the Costa Del Sol Egg Benediction), which was served with a lightly tossed salad and house potatoes. YUM. My friend ordered the Milano Crepe and I liked her dish more than mine.
Service was nice, they consistently refilled our cups of water as my party of three was there for a long time chatting it up and whatnot.
Looked like a lot of people come to read a book or do work on their laptops. Pretty nice atmosphere to get work done if needed.
The one thing I found confusing about this place was that they didn't list the prices of their cakes and cheesecakes. I can't recall, but it was roughly $4-$5 for a slice. They all looked appetizing though.
Pretty sweet place. Will be back! -

San Francisco, CA
The crepes were absolutely rubbery. I expect better quality for the prices.
I stopped here for lunch and had a brunch crepe that had eggs, green onions, chicken maple sausage and cheese. While the filling was tasty, the crepe itself was was unpleasantly chewy and came out half warm. I'd have returned it for a fresh crepe, but it took so long to get served in the first place I couldn't chance it taking so long again and it would make me late for an appointment.
It came with potatoes (very good) and fresh salad. 2 lunches and 2 iced teas came to $30. Not terribly cheap for thoroughly average food. -

Oakland, CA
I want to give 2-1/2. Not a whole 2 because I continue to eat here often. I do enjoy convenient food. Not a full 3 because just about everyone you have to deal with at Crepevine Oakland is only borderline capable. I swear 'slightly educated' must be a prerequisite for employment.
Want to know what flavors are in the cake... The young girl behind the counter can't tell you because she never thought to ask... and whomever runs this place doesn't think it's important for customers to know. Yes seriously she didn't know what flavor
the cake was... She said 'white' flavor...what is that?! You're a pregnant lady (like me) and need to know if the cheese is pasteurized. The unintelligent boy on the phone doesn't even know what the word means. Have a nut allergy? Assume everything will send you into a reaction because the staff is too incompetent to find out from the cooks or a grown-up. Every time a friend or I have had a question in the past few months... they can't help. These examples are from 3 different visits to Crepevine.
Also, don't expect any kind of timeliness for your food whether eating in or taking out. You will always have to wait.
Seriously Crepevine, did you just hire your ignorant nieces & nephews? -
Review from Grace C.
- Crepevine Club sandwich: 4 stars - mmm, bacon & avocado!
- Chicken & brie sandwich: 3 stars - pretty decent
- Grilled salmon fettucine: 2 stars - Don't order salmon dishes here... the salmon tastes bland and probably isn't the freshest either.
The fries are crispy & deliciously seasoned, though! For dishes that come with house potatoes (really "meh" and limp), you can ask them to substitute fries instead. -
Review from Judy W.
crepevine used to be so good.. but the last time i went, everything was just bland... the crepe is way too thick and mushy... it makes me really sad that i spent 30 minutes to look for parking to eat mediocre food.
sure, the portions are decent size, but if it doesnt taste good, then it doesnt even matter... oh wells! ill find some place else!!

I loved the Crepevine in the Inner Sunset, so I was really happy to have one close to our new East Bay home. We've had some pretty good meals there, but last night there was a cockroach in our food... seriously! Gross!

Depending on what you eat, the food could be good or not so good. I have been coming to this place for almost a year now. Two things I want to point out.
First, the service is bad, the servers will bring you the food that you didn't order all the time, it usually belongs to a different table.
The wait time to get your food is not acceptable at all, even if you order a cereal it's still going to take the time to make a burger or omelet.
The people behind the counter are not friendly at all. -
Review from Deana I.
What an adorable, lovely breakfast place. I'm a sucker for breakfast food and this place serves breakfast all day. SCORE! They have several savory and sweet crepes choices along with a variety of other breakfast and lunch entrees. I got the Sienna which was a strawberry, nutella crepe with pistachio nuts and whipped cream, served with vanilla ice cream. It was absolutely yummy! The crepe was a good size packed with strawberries. The strawberries were a little too sweet, but not enough to keep me from scarfing down the crepe. It must've been preserved strawberries since they're not in season. Or are they? Regardless, you better believe this place goes on my list of places to return to whenever I'm in the Bay.

Oakland, CA
We had brunch here recently, and we had been there before and liked it. This time was a let down, and we won't be back again. I agree that the staff isn't friendly. The lady who took our order just stared at me coldly and didn't smile or talk to me. I hate that! I mean, if you work in customer service jobs, I know it's stressful, cause I worked retail sales and I know all about dealing with the public. However, I resent the attitude, and it made me feel unwelcome and annoyed the entire time.
Aside from THAT, my husband found a hair on his plate, so he took it up to tell them. They (supposedly) cooked him a new crepe dish. I was hungry and my plate looked fine, but I was kind of grossed out otherwise. I thought my Greek crepe was ok, edible and I liked the generous diced potatoes and salad they fill in your plate with. I think the latte was good. I don't recall which crepe my man ate, but once he got a "clean" one, he seemed to like it all right.
The tables are cramped in here, and I was highly selective about where we sat, because I do NOT like sitting on top of people. Anyway, we are turned off now, and will not go back due to the problems mentioned, and the food is ok but not fantastic.
Spend elsewhere and eat happier!
*Just realized that this review has my husband's name, but I wrote it. He had been signed in on this computer right before me - oops. Oh well.... -

We were out and about in the Rockridge area last night. After a fun time at McNally's we got hungry and decided to head over to Ben n Nicks for some food, but unfortunately they closed the kitchen at 10 which was a minute before we got there. They told us that Crepevine next door was open so we ended up going there. It was awesome. We had a huge group, the food was really good and they had beer and wine. We had a really good experience. The service was very pleasant and fast.

I've been here a couple of times. The crepes themselves are pretty delicious and I love the unlimited refill of the lemonade. I'm just REALLY disappointed with the potatoes! The potatoes are so important! Sometimes they aren't cooked enough. Sometimes they would be too dry/burnt. The terrible potatoes knocked off one star. Other than that, I do recommend the place.
Parking on the side street could suck, but I guess cross your fingers when you head there. -
Review from Sophia C.
So another 24 hours in the bay resulted in staying over in Berekeley/Oakland area trying to find food. Since living in the bay over a year ago (I so don't miss it!!!), I've tried the other Crepevine in Burlingame, which was mediocre at best.
All the other breakfast places we walked past at 8am this morning just looked like it was either crawling of people who have bed bugs (aka: haven't had a bath in a loooooooooooooong time) or the food was too yuppy like (aka: accommodating to gluten, peanut, allergy-free nonsense). We came across this one, gave each other the sigh and said, sure, why not, how can they possibly f--- up crepes? Norcal never provided me any memorable meal, but I digress from the review.
Anywho, the sun was shining, so we placed our order then found a spot in the outside patio for some people watching.
I ordered the corte de azur benediction...which simply means an eggs benedict with addition of lox and spinach. Surprisingly, it was actually not bad, but genuinely yummy. Eggs were cooked soft, the lox wasn't smelly at all! The potatoes that accompanied the dish was actually hot as well. The location in Burlingame usually served luke-warm dishes when they came out, so this one was a surprise.
The hubby ordered regular ol' french toast. Again, it came out pipping hot and not gooey--he was a happy camper.
All in all, a whee bit expensive for breakfast. Getting a refill on coffee turned to be a bit of a feat but I would suggest giving it a try if you area in the neighborhood. Cute area where it's located...sans the bums yelling at your from the nearby BART station. -

Oakland, CA
This place just rubbed me the wrong way. I am a big fan a Rolling Dunes and I would only hope that this place ( after realizing that its literally the same style) wouldn't do me wrong.
Maybe it was the fact that when we were getting served, the waitress came over and started serving us water; that is not the bad part. There was five of us, she served us only two of the five waters before she somehow dropped the other three off of her tray to the floor, splashing all over the patrons the next table over. (All over the ladies legs). I didn't hear as much as a "sorry", "my bad", not even an "oopps!". She just left, gone, vanished off to take care of all her other tables. We even waited a few seconds to see if she was going to get some towels; In the end, we were the ones wiping up the floor. The table that got splashed, just left, I doubt they even paid there bill. Rightly so.
We had to get our own forks and knifes. A person at the table with me asked for a to-go box, her reply, "Im a little overwhelmed now, they are over there." After that we simply got our boxes, and left.
She said the word, overwhelmed. That is exactly what they are, and it sucked. The service was absolutely forgettable. I doubt ill be back anytime soon. I expected more from this place. Rolling Dunes will do me just fine from now on. -

I am always wary of a restaurant whose menu has more than 40 choices for entrees. Crepevine, however, is one of those places where all the choices are quite pleasing and tasty. For the portion of food, this place is cheap. Unless you order a salad, however, don't expect to be eating on the lighter side.
The benedictines here are all pretty good. The New Orleans (Crab cakes) benedict is probably one of the best I've had despite being from Maryland and eating my fair share of crab cake benedicts...
This cute restaurant has a fair amount of seating. I really like glass array of heated lamps outside. There's something, however, about crepevine that is just kind of generic. It's a great standby but there's nothing really to make it special.
The order up front service also diminishes a bit of the charm of going to weekend brunch. -

3.5 stars. I like Crepevine, but I wish that they weren't cash only as it prevents me from going there! I probably only come here about 3 times a year...
They are open late, and that you can get breakfast all day. They have sweet and savory crepes, they have salads, they have sandwiches, burgers, pasta, and more! The menu is large, and the portions are good! I have also found that the servers and cashiers are friendly. I like that you can sit outside on the patio with the fresh air... It is a great location on college avenue.
As a vegan my options are a little limited, but they have allowed me to substitute things no problem. They also have many vegetarian options. -

Corona, CA
One of our friends highly recommended Crepevine. Whenever they come up to norcal, they make it a point to ALWAYS stop by this place. Intrigued, we went for brunch on our way to Ici (wonderful artisan ice cream, another must-have!).
We surely were not disappointed. From the open air atmosphere, to the delectable variety of delicious food, we instantly fell in love with this place. My wife had the San Francisco (smoked salmon) savory crepes and I had the Sante Fe. The smoked salmon was very fresh and cooked just right. The Sante Fe with the country apple sausages, cheese, and salsa fresca, was right on the money. The crepes were also very good. My only wish was to try some of the salads and the sandwiches - the portions were huge and they looked scrumptious.
When you consider the price for salad, potatoes, and your savory crepes, it is truly a good deal. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu! -

Berkeley, CA
I've been here twice, once to this location and to their other location on Shattuck. Both offer the same tasting food, in my opinion, but I much prefer the one on College because of their quaint layout!
I got the Philly crepe w/ fries on the side and my friend got the San Francisco crepe. (I'm only including my friend's order because I had a bite of hers and it was MUCH better than mines!)
The Philly crepe was good, but not my cup of crepe tea! I think it might have been the flavor of cheese that didn't mix well with the beef. It was not horrible food, but it wasn't something I would order again.
Next time I would definitely come back and order the San Francisco! :) -

Let's just say I've never had a bad meal here. I come here often. I've had their burgers, pasta, salad, crepes and breakfast. I've never been disappointed and always left satisfied. I lllooove their carrot juice! definitely one of the best. There's never a wait and there's always free table. It's great for grabbing a quick meal and you can also call in to get a meal to go. Parking is easy to find, since there's a bart station around the corner with a huge parking lot. Love this place!

Crepevine is pretty damn close to perfect.
Inside and out, the atmosphere is awesome. The decor is bright and light, and seating is abundant. And if you sit outside, there are tons of people and puppies to watch.
I came here with 7 girlfriends. Each of us got different crepes, plus a couple more for dessert. After ordering at the counter and making our way back to our table, it took them no more than 7 minutes to bring out all of our food. Amazing! Beyond that, everything was yummy. Beyond crepes, they have a Crabcake Benedict which is absolutely wonderful, and their scrambles are nothing too shabby either. Yum. Yum. Yum. -
Review from Sandra S.
I don't know why I've waited so long to eat at Crepevine. I suppose honestly because I had no idea what a Crepe even was and I didn't want to go in looking like a fool...alone that is :)
My friend Brandi explained to me a Crepe was like a thin pancake. We were looking for some place with a good salad so her BF suggested Crepevine. I was like YES...I've been dying to try it. I love North Oakland and knew exactly where this place was. We get there and I took a look at the menu and was instantly overwhelmed with all the options. Before I knew it, one crepe looked like them all. Shortly after I was about 2 seconds away from just saying "give me any ole crepe" I saw they had a sweet crepes option. That was it!!!! Love at first sight :)
I decided to get the Crepe called Rockland which was a crepe with bananas, strawberrys and Nutella. YUMMY!!!!!!! It came out super fast and I DEVOURED IT!!!! It had the right about of sweetness and flavor. I also ordered some fresh squeeze lemonade that was to die for. Mmm Mmm good!!!
If that wasn't enough, I loved it so much I wanted to try my luck and order another one. Not because I wasn't full of course but because I needed to see what an unsweetened one taste like. I ended up ordering a California one, which consisted of the crepe, onions, peppers and avocado. It was super good as well although I was completely stuffed after like 3 bites.
I {heart} this place!!!!!!!Listed in: Oakland Eats

New city. Same crêpe.
On the first clear San Francisco July 4th firework show since 1776 I was in the east bay watching my city's show from afar. It was rather ironic.
Even more so was the fact we were eating dinner from a San Francisco chain. Crêpevine's tofu crêpe is just as good on the other side of the bay, and I quite enjoyed the side of roasted potatoes on the side. Granted I was still replenishing calories from Markus Schulz the night before, so everything tasted good.
FYI San Francisco: The Berkeley show was longer. Work on that next year and I promise I'll stick around. Even in the fog. -

This place is awesome!
-Great food
-Great prices
-Great service
-Great set-up
-Great background music
what more could you ask for?
There are so many options from sweet/savory crepes, to sandwiches to salads, and all at what I feel is a reasonable price (especially because the food actually has flavor). I'm ashamed to say that I'm an almost 20 yo Oakland native and yesterday was my first time there. This is definitely going on the restaurant list. -

Never had Crepes before, a friend asked me to come and try this place out. So I yelped it and and checked out everyone's comments and it turned out pretty good. It was a huge portion, man for a lunch it was Way too much, but it was good. The food came with a salad and some potatoes. I tried out the Tuscany Crepe because it was the one that was mentioned the most and it turned out great.
So you have to order before you sit down, the staff there gives you a menu while your waiting in line, the have a huge chalkboard with ALL the food that's on the menu, its really cool. The Service was good, the staff was nice and friendly. If you hadn't had a crepe before, you have to try it out! -
