I love baking and appreciate a nicely baked cake. If I can't whip up my own creation I head to Crave. We order these for work now after trying both Flirt and Fuss for special events. Crave is more pricey, but if you are going to eat cake you want to eat GOOD cake.
The cake is awesome and the icing is addicting. My favourite is the red velvet. One cupcake is truly a treat. If you go here eat your cupcake with a fork so you can get the perfect cake to icing ratio! -

While you have to search long and hard to find gourmet chocolate truffles on Whyte Ave, there are not one, not two, but three cupcake bakeries. And their names are all verbs (though admittedly, "flirt" and "fuss" also function as nouns).
With three cupcake bakeries serving nearly identical frosting vessels in a three block radius, where you buy your cupcakes ultimately has to do with the precise location when the craving hits.
While located in the same strip mall area as Shoppers Drug Mart, Planet Organic, and Save On Foods, Crave makes up for the pedestrian nature of the surrounding stores with a highly stylized logo, and a highly stylized interior, meant to conjure up images of childhood tea parties, or childhood princess parties, or any childhood parties full of wholesome girlishness.
And while the cupcakes look fantastic at Crave, they also taste pretty good. One issue with Victoria's Pink Sugar Cupcakery was its tendency to serve stale cupcakes. This does not happen at Crave.
I purchased two cupcakes: Red Velvet Cupcake - which is exactly what you think it is - a Red-coloured chocolate cake with cream cheese icing - and another cupcake - a chocolate cupcake with blue-coloured chocolate buttercream icing.
While the cakes were airy and moist, the icing is really the star of the show at Crave - both with appearance and flavour. -

I was going to bake a cake for my St. Patrick's Day party, but my daughter talked me out of it. She suggested I order from Crave. She is very fond of the Whoopie Pies.
I walked over there two days before the party. I looked at all their delights. I asked what the green specials were. I was tempted by the green velvet cupcakes with Bailey's. I ordered 6 of those, 6 green velvet Whoopie Pies and 6 plain white with green frosting. It came to $33.00. I was told to pick them up after 10:00 am on St. Paddy's day. They were packaged up beautifully. They were delicious and everyone ate themselves sick on them. Success! -

Ooh! I love cupcakes! For anyone looking beyond a traditional cake, cupcakes would offer a modern alternative. Stack cupcakes on towering tiers and treat guests to a token of thank-yous. Choose delicious cupcakes for a variety of events -- weddings, baptisms, corporate functions, bachlorette parties, baby showers or anything else.
Craves' based in Calgary and I'm so glad they've expanded to Edmonton! They make freshly baked cupcakes every morning; whoppie pies, cakes, cookies and 13 variety of cupcakes, from reg. size or mini(s):
1. Va Va Vanila
2. Nutty Over Chocolate
3. Lemon-Lime Twist
4. Peppy Pattie
5. A Lovely Bunch of Coconuts (Vanilla)
6. A Lovely Bunch of Coconuts (Chocolate)
7. Crave-O-Licious
8. The Princess (Vanilla)
9. The Princess (Chocolate)
10. Dirty Blonde
11. Just Chocolate
12. Red Velvet Elvis
13. Dark Angel
If you go to their website, there should be a recipe for the best Fudgey Brownie. Ummm...Crave-O-Licious! -

As someone who used to live five minutes away from the original Crave Cupcakes location in the Kensington district of Calgary I was SO EXCITED to see that Crave has expanded to Edmonton.
Now, the cupcakes are fairly steep in price but boy are they delicious. The Red Velvet Elvis cupcake is to die for. Even better, unlike the Calgary locations that always run out of the Red Velvet 2-3 hours after opening, they always have stock at the Edmonton location.
If you're looking to indulge yourself, go to Crave, you wont regret it (well, you might 2 hours afterwards...haha) -

I am writing this review as I'm eating the cupcake. (My boyfriend surprised me at work with them!)
The icing by itself tastes pretty standard for buttercream. It's VERY sweet, a bit too sweet for my tastes, but it doesn't taste like shortening which is awesome. The cupcake itself is moist and not greasy (some of the other cupcake places have very greasy cupcakes, which impacts the flavor and appeal a lot.) I'm eating a chocolate cupcake and the level of chocolatyness is pretty good, but it tastes more cake-mix-y than anything. It's not bad at all, but it's not above and beyond. From a place that specializes in cupcakes, I would have hoped for something more... this tastes more along the lines of something you'd get at a bake sale.
Overall, too sweet/ordinary for me but much better than a lot of the other places in the area. -

Yummy, yummy, yummy!!! What else can I say about Crave! To be honest I am not a huge desert fan and find most cupcakes leave me feeling a little ill due too the sweetness but surprisingly and very happily I did not get that at all with Crave. I was able to satisfy my "crave"ing for something sweet without the what was I thinking feeling. Mind you I did stick to the mini cupcakes, baby steps right. I love love their peppermint icing cupcake, definitely my favorite!

I tried a "Nutty Over Chocolate" and a "Red Velvet Elvis" cupcake. At $2.95/cupcake, I was hoping that I'd find something exceptional that I wouldn't be able to create on my own. The cupcakes here are good but average.

I just had my first crave cupcake in about a year, and wow, the quality has gone downhill. Or else, they accidentally made one really bad cupcake. Tough, bad flavour, tasted like it was about 2 weeks old.

Crave is definitely one of the better cupcake bakeries in Edmonton. The cakes strike a good balance between moist and airy and the icing is creamy without being oily or heavy. The shop is attractively set up, brightly lit, and generally a welcoming environment. So far, their basic chocolate cupcake is my favourite. It authentically tastes of rich cocoa. I'm hesitant to give Crave more than a three out of five for several reasons though; cupcakes are pretty safe territory and I would love to see Crave push the envelope with exotic fruits or herbs/spices.

I used a coupon for this place and got a 12 pack of mini cupcakes. They were very delicious! My favorites were the Red Velvet Elvis and the Princess Chocolate. The frosting on top is the best I have had anywhere! I just wish they weren't so expensive.

Was in the area today and remembered today was Crave's grand opening ! Popped in and was surprised to see only 1 person in there.. I suppose it was close to closing time though... The layout of it is very cute ! First thing I noticed was that these are a tad cheaper then other places.. I remember going to Fuss and it was $8 something for 2.. Here I got 2 regular size ($2.95ea) and two minis ($1.75ea) . And it came to $9 something. Anyways ! Being a hater of the buttermilk I stuck with my best friend cream cheese icing.. I got the Dark Angel ( Chocolate cake w/ cream cheese icing) in a regular and a Velvet Elvis (Red velvet w cream cheese icing) in mini. First bite of the dark angel, it was a flavor explosion! The cake melted in my mouth along with the EXTREMELY sweet icing. Now my teeth didn't hate me for it surprisingly ! But the sweetness is a lot to take in. It was pretty hard to eat the whole thing at once so I only took two bites so I could try the other. Velvet elvis was a different experience on its own. The only way I can describe the taste was that I was eating the sun covered in lolipops. No joke. And with being the mini it was just perfect for sweetness. No overdose, no shaking while driving etc etc. So for those of you with a super sweet tooth I would suggest this place ! And with those of you that don't.. stick to the minis ! They're awesome !
