In one sentence: "Great, cheap, and fast dry-cleaning service from a lady that you won't want to mess with."
For those of you who need more, I popped in to drop off three sweaters to be dry-cleaned, an occasion that happens only like once a year since handling my dry-cleaning is one of my least favourite things of all time. Usually 'dry clean only' to me just means hang outside for a little while and hope for the best.
The person behind the counter was just giving the guy ahead of me instructions on how to use the washing machines, quickly progressing to curse words under her breath when he didn't get it right and she had to walk over and help. Quickly, I tried to think of ways to avoid getting on the bad side of the person I'm trusting with some Marc Jacob cashmere...
She said my stuff would be ready the next day, which is awesome, but I didn't make it back in for a few days and was seriously nervous that she was going to tell me off because of it. While *that* didn't happen, there was no love for me when I didn't notice that they only accept cash and I felt I had already drained her patience after having to run next door to the ATM in the gas station.
It was a really classy experience, can't you tell?
Determined, I walked back in with my head held high, waiting for my total with cash in hand. "$25? That's it?" After easily paying $17-20 per item for dry-cleaning before, I was legitimately impressed at the savings - a reaction I may have amplified after seeing a hint of a smile cross her face: "Well, we're not trying to get rich here..."
And then we were friends. Well, maybe not friends -but we understood each other. Well, maybe we didn't understand each other, but damnit I got my dry-cleaning back in no time flat on the cheap without driving anyone to swear words. Success!
